Chapter 29
The inside of the farm the boys had just gone into looked just as cozy as the outside had done. Seoyun clearly had a big love for plants considering they were filling up every table, counter and there were even a few big ones placed on the ground with big brown pots around them. Cute looking flower curtains were decorating the windows and a soft breeze could be felt every now and then from the open window in the kitchen.
Currently the boys were seated on a green sofa with a small brown coffee table placed in front of it. The fireplace, which did a great job at heating the place up, made a crackling noise every now and then and it truly made Jungkook understand why Seoyun had chosen a life outside of the city instead of her old apartment. He too would like to life a normal and quiet life like hers once this was all over. To him she seemed so at peace.
Seoyun soon returned from the kitchen with a tray filled with 5 cups of steaming hot tea and a plate filled with multiple chocolate chip cookies, clearly made by herself considering the smell from having them baked earlier this morning still lingered inside the living room. She carefully placed the tray down before handing each of the boys a cup of tea and taking place in the green chair that was placed right across from the sofa.
"So obviously we are not only here for a reunion between you and Taehyung, Mrs. Kim." Namjoon decided to speak up immediately after the brown haired woman had sat down, he had come here with a reason and while he loved the fact that his friend had finally gotten a chance to meet with his mother again he had to think about the bigger picture, Korea was depending on whether this woman could help them or not and wasting time would benefit no one. "We were hoping you could help us with bringing Seunghoon down."
Seoyun smiled slightly, a sad look briefly crossing her features before she focused her gaze on the cup of tea in her hands. "I cannot stop him if that is what you need help with." The brown haired woman spoke before looking at her son with an apologetic look on her face. "I've tried that before and it almost cost me mine and Taehyung's lives."
Upon hearing this a confused look made it's way onto Taehyung's face and he locked eyes with his mother. "What do you mean? The blond asked, his mind clearly filled with questions. He hadn't known the reason why his mother had left him and he had always assumed that she had chosen to do so herself. However upon hearing his mother's voice now he slowly began to doubt everything he had ever believed.
Seoyun looked at the confused look on her son's face and she immediately looked away from his gaze, a feeling of shame creeping up on her. "I've known about his plans for years Taehyung." She spoke before a soft sigh left her lips. "Seunghoon tried to kill me the morning I was going to tell the police about his plans." She confessed before she put down her cup of tea and stood up from her chair, a somewhat nervous look now visible on her face. She had lost Taehyung once already and by telling him all this she might lose him again. He would have every reason to hate her after she was done telling the story. After all, it had been her who had left him with that monster.
"During my marriage with Seunghoon I felt like I was trapped. The beginning of our marriage was great, we were happy and we even got blessed with the most perfect baby boy I could have asked for." Seoyun spoke before she looked at Taehyung with adoration in her eyes. Her son was the only thing good that had come out of her marriage and even though she hated the man her ex-husband had become she could never hate the son she shared with him. How could she hate the one person she would be willing to sacrifice everything for? Taehyung was her everything and he would always remain so.
Upon hearing Seoyun talk about the son she had with Seunghoon immediately Jungkook's eyes grew big as his brain began to connect all the dots. His gaze immediately shot over to where Taehyung was sitting but the blonde failed to see the other look at him, too focused on watching his mother. Finally all the puzzle pieces began to fit right into each other and it all made perfect sense why the blonde had been willing to give everything for this mission to be a success and why he was so well informed about everything that got to do with Seunghoon. The blonde hadn't just been any of Seunghoon's closest men, Taehyung was his son.
Finally the puzzle that had been Kim Taehyung had laid bare all it's pieces. Finally Jungkook could all fit them into each other with ease. There were no more layers to be undone, the brunette had finally figured out everything there was to know about Taehyung. Knowing what he knew now he finally understood every single choice and decision the blonde had made. Why the elder had said certain things and why he was so closed off in the beginning. It all finally made sense to Jungkook.
"The morning I was planning on going to the police about his plans I did something I usually didn't." Seoyun continued as she looked at her son, a pained tone lacing her voice. "You had been sick that night Taehyung and thus I had taken you to the pharmacy that morning to get some painkillers to make you feel at least a bit better. "It somehow didn't feel right leaving you home alone that morning. I had planned to give them to you when we got home, put you back in bed and then drive towards the police station. By then the maid would've arrived and I could've asked her to check in with you every now and then" The petite woman continued as a small sigh left her lips every now and then. Telling the story of what happened that morning clearly brought back a lot of memories the woman had been trying to forget and a pityful look began to form onto Jungkook's face as he looked at Seoyun. He truly felt sorry for her as well as Taehyung and what they must've gone through while being so close to a man who bears such hate for humanity inside him. Power was the only thing Seunghoon cared for, nothing else.
"Just when I turned the car onto the street our penthouse was at I saw a bunch of men dressed all in black exit a car, they were carrying big guns and ran towards the building where we lived. To me it was oddly coincidental that on the day I would talk to the police a car filled with those men ran inside our building, too coincidental. They were there that morning for me and to silence me once and for all, it apparently didn't matter to your father that you were supposed to be there as well. In my panicked state of mind I turned the car around and I drove to a parking garage in the middle of the city, trying to hide from whoever it was that Seunghoon had sent after me." Seoyun spoke before she closed her eyes briefly and focused her gaze on Taehyung again. "We've stayed there in the car for a few hours while I was thinking about what I had to do next., you didn't notice the time since you were sound asleep. It was then that I decided that we had to part ways Taehyung. As long as we'd be together the target on my back would become yours as well. I could not let that happen, I could not stand and watch how I dragged you into the mess between me and your father."
Seoyun then walked back towards the chair she had previously sat in and sat down once again, a hint of tears now visible in her brown eyes. "It was then that I dropped you off in front of the office building of your father. I softly woke you op and sent you inside while telling you that I still had some errands to do before I could go home. You being the amazing son you are didn't question me and gave me a hug before you left to go to your dad's office. I then drove of and never saw you again." The brown haired woman spoke, tears now slowly streaming down her cheeks. She hated the fact that she had left her son but with her had not been safe and his safety had always been her top priority. She had been willing to make every sacrifice necessary to ensure that her baby wasn't brought any harm.
She then looked at her son while a sad look was still plastered on her face. "You must understand that I only left you with your father because that would be your best chance of survival. I couldn't let you get killed in the crossfire that had begun between me and Seunghoon."
Taehyung sighed softly before he stood up and walked over to his mother, kneeling down and engulfing her in a hug. He did not blame her, not at all, not anymore. Now that he knew that it was once again his father that had fucked everything up for him he only began to hate him more and more. He had driven his mother away from him and made him feel all that anger he had felt towards her all those years. Seunghoon had played Taehyung like his own personal puppet and planted ideas in his brain that he didn't agree with by telling him lies. Now that he knew the whole truth about his mother he didn't hate her at all. She acted out of love for him and he could never blame her for that.
"I don't blame you mom, don't worry about that." The blonde spoke before getting up again and smiling slightly at her. "It wasn't your fault, you had no choice. I know that now." The blonde spoke before he continued. "I'd like to ask you anything if that's okay with you." He asked and his mother softly nodded, the tears now slowly stopping from appearing. Just knowing that her son forgave her for leaving him behind made the brown haired woman very happy. Even though she hadn't seen Taehyung for years he had always been the one on her mind. Not a day had passed where she hadn't thought of him. He was, is and will always be the most important person in her life.
"There was this chip which contained all of Seunghoon's plans. We tried to steal it so that we could make his plans public. However it got stolen from us and the only clue we've got is; In order to be on top of the pyramid you've got to be willing to make sarifices others aren't willing to make." Taehyung spoke while the rest of the team looked hopeful at Mrs. Kim. She was their only hope at finding that chip right now and if she had no clue what he meant by this then they were for sure doomed.
Seoyun immediately began to think before a small smile began to form onto her face. "There is this big pyramid formed building on the east side of Seoul. I've been there once with him, it's one of Seunghoon's private buildings. The top chamber of that building is filled with paintings of important historical figures like former kings, presidents and military leader. It is always guarded. My bet is that it would be hidden there."
"Jungkook locate that building for me." Namjoon immediately said and Jungkook nodded before he opened his laptop and began to type. It didn't take the hacker long before he had found exactly what Mrs. Kim had described. A big pyramid formed building completely covered in glass walls on the outside. "I got it." The brunette announced and the boys quickly stood up from their seats, ready to go tell the others about the great news they had. This must be it, this must be where the chip was hidden and now they needed to go and steal it again.
It didn't take long before Namjoon, Jungkook and Jin took place in the car, after thanking Mrs. Kim for her help. Taehyung turned to his mother and gave her one last hug before he too made his way towards the car. "Taehyung!" Seoyun shouted
just in time before her son had gotten in the car. The blonde turned around with a confused look on his face while starring at his mother. A small smile could be spotted on her features and she looked at her son with an adoring look on her face. "When this is over I'd like to start again." She spoke and a small smile began to form onto Taehyung's face as well.
"I'd like that too."
