Chapter 28
To say this morning was chaotic would be a complete understatement. Jungkook sat on the couch and looked with big eyes at everything that was happening in front of him. Ever since he'd woken up every single member of the team looked like they were busy with one thing or another.
Namjoon was busy getting everything he thought he'd need for their mission for today and Jin was walking right behind him while trying to calm him down. It was as clear as crystal to Jungkook that even though the elder would never admit it he was nervous to be meeting Taehyung's mother. The woman was their only shot at finding that chip at the moment and knowing that fact clearly stressed Namjoon out.
Jimin on the other hand was busy making sure everyone who'd go on the mission were ready and he had made it his personal job to provide everyone anything they needed. Seeing as only Taehyung, Namjoon, Jin and Jungkook would be going it was safe to say that even though the pink haired male was doing everything with the best intentions possible he was driving the other males quite crazy.
Hoseok and Taemin were busy taking care of Johnny seeing as since Jin would be gone they'd be responsible for making sure the male ate and drank enough. Yoongi on the other hand had gotten the role of being in command while Namjoon was away and he was completely fine with that. Yoongi was used to being second in command and thus he knew exactly what needed to be done once the others would leave.
Jungkook slowly looked around before his eyes focused himself on Taehyung who was sitting on a chair near the couch he was sitting on. A tense look could be spotted on the male's face and he often could be spotted taking deep breaths. Jungkook smiled slightly at the elder, a compassionate look visible on his face. He knew damn well that no words could calm down the nerves already soaring through the blonde's veins. Taehyung was only hours away from meeting his mother after not seeing her for years. If it had been the brunette in his shoes he knew damn well no words could have made him feel less nervous as well. As much as Taehyung wasn't sure about how to feel about meeting her she'd always remain his mother and even though the love they'd once shared might be gone now, there's no denying that it had been there before. They'd shared moments together which were precious to Taehyung and therefore she'd always occupy a small part of his heart, even if he decided that he didn't want to ever be around her again.
Judging by the tense look on Taehyung's face now Jungkook could see that even though he was trying his best to hide his feelings Taehyung was having a difficult time with all of this. The blonde of course didn't was to appear weak to his team by showing such a response to the internal battle that was going on in him right now but to Jungkook it was clear what he was truly feeling. By now he could easily call himself a pro in reading Taehyung's body language. From the way his shoulders tensed to the way his eyebrow twitched, the brunette knew what all of those little signs meant. Ever since Taehyung had decided to open up a bit more to him and allow him to see what he felt Jungkook knew what signs to look for. Taehyung had allowed him to knew what signs to look for by opening up and Jungkook would use the knowledge the blonde had granted him by supporting him whenever he could.
"Taehyung, Jungkook." Namjoon spoke as he walked over to them. "Are ready to go?" The grey haired male asked as he looked from Jungkook to Taehyung. Jungkook immediately sprung up from his seat, his laptop firm in his hands. "As ready as I can be." The brunette answered while he smiled in the direction of Namjoon. Jungkook had been chosen to come along because he was the only one out of the bunch of them who had the exact location on his laptop and thus Namjoon had trusted the male with the task of leading them to where Mrs. Kim would be living.
Taehyung only briefly nodded before he stood up from his position and walked over to the others. Jungkook immediately out of instinct send him a small reassuring smile before he locked eyes with the other. "It will be fine Tae, don't worry." The brunette spoke to which Taehyung nodded his head again while sending a small smile back to Jungkook.
Jin quickly grabbed a few more things and before they knew it the four males who were assigned to do this mission were seated in the car and on their way to where ever Jungkook would lead them. Jungkook was comfortably sitting in the backseat together with Jin while Namjoon was sitting in the passengers seat and Taehyung was driving. The blonde behind the steering wheel was tightly grabbing it, his knuckles turning white in the process.
"Take a left here. Were almost there." Jungkook spoke after almost 30 minutes of driving as he navigated Taehyung where he needed to go. By now the busy streets of Seoul had made place for the country side outside of it and every now and then they passed a small farm. Even though Jungkook didn't have a lot of time to look at each and every one of them since he had to navigate he still managed to catch a glimpse of a few of them. Ohh how the hacker would love to live at a place like that sometime in the future. It would be a complete contrast from his life now and in a way the hacker thought that would be a great way to start all over again. After all he'd be free of any criminal charges once he'd be done with this mission.
That is if he made it out alive of course
"After two minutes it's the farm on your right Tae." Jungkook then announced as soon as they'd almost come to the place to which he had tracked down Taehyung's mother's phone number. A small farm indeed was located to the right and once Taehyung stopped right in front of it the males all quickly got out of the car. Jungkook decided to leave his laptop in the car seeing as he really didn't need it right now.
The farm they'd stopped in front was small. It would be just big enough for about two people and it looked quite cute in Jungkook's eyes. Chickens were walking around it freely while a small yard filled with all kinds of vegetables could be spotted a bit to the back of the farm. Brightly colored flowers were surrounding the farm completely and to Jungkook it truly looked like the view in front of him was some sort of painting. It was absolutely perfect.
"I guess we should knock on the door." Taehyung broke Jungkook out of his thoughts and hesitantly walked over the small wooden door that would serve as the front door of the farm. The blonde's steps were slow and careful as if he was trying to postpone knocking on the door as long as possible. However he did reach the door quite quickly and Taehyung sighed deeply before he raised his fist to knock twice on the door before walking back to were the other's were standing.
It took a few minutes before there finally could be heard some footsteps inside the house and before the males knew it a small woman with long straight brown hair opened the door. A friendly smile could be spotted on her features and to Jungkook her whole presence felt rather comfortably. Quickly the brunette looked over to his side where Taehyung was standing in order to try and read what was going on inside of him.
Taehyung's eyes looked calm and much to Jungkook's delight he couldn't spot any hint of anger visible on his face. However the blonde still had his jaw clenched and judging by the way his knuckles were turning white from squeezing his fists too hard he still was having a difficult time controlling the nerves soaring through his veins.
"What can I do for you boys?" The woman spoke, a friendly tone lacing his voice and a smile visible on her lips. Namjoon was quick to step forward while he too plastered a smile on his lips. "We're looking for Kim Seoyun and we were wondering if you could help us with that?" Namjoon asked the woman in front of him and immediately an amused look began to make it's way onto Jungkook's face.
To him it was as clear as crystal that the woman they were looking for was standing right in front of them. The resemblance she had with her son were clearly visible and thus the brunette looked a bit down to smile without anyone thinking he was laughing at them.
"Then you're looking for me, that's my name." The older woman spoke as she once again smiled at Namjoon. However a small hint of curiosity could easily be spotted lacing the tone in which she'd answered the grey haired male and thus it didn't come as a surprise when she quickly added a question to her previous sentence. "Do I happen to know you boys?"
Immediately Namjoon opened his mouth to answer but before he could bring out a word suddenly the blonde standing right next to Jungkook began to speak. "Mom?" an uncertain voice spoke and immediately Jungkook looked to his side. Taehyung was looking at his mother with a confused look covering his features and he clearly had no idea what to do with the situation he had brought himself into. Seeing his mother after so long must have made him feel a thousand feelings all at one.
Upon hearing that word Seoyun's eyes immediately shot to the male that had said them and she locked eyes with Taehyung. A shocked look briefly took over her features before she brightly smiled and tilted her head a bit to the side. "Hello Taehyung. You've grown quite a lot since the last time we saw each other." The petite woman spoke while she took in the appearance of her son. Jungkook carefully looked at the two of them and while Taehyung kept that tense look from before on his face his mother seemed pleasantly surprised at the sudden visit from her son.
"Well it has been seven years since I last saw you." Taehyung then spoke while finally locking eyes with his mother and taking in her complete appearance as well. To the blonde it was as clear as crystal who she had been from the moment he saw her. Apart from her somewhat older features she still looked exactly like how he remembered her appearance and somehow that gave him some sort of familiar feeling. It had been years since he'd last seen her yet somehow he was still happy her presence didn't feel like he was talking to a complete stranger.
Seoyun clearly was hesitating her next movements. To Jungkook it looked like she was contemplating whether to move towards Taehyung or to keep the distance they'd now had between them. In those seven years of no contact they'd grown apart, that was clear and thus Seoyun had no idea where they were standing now in their relationship and if Taehyung would even want her to come closer to him.
"How have you been?" Seoyun decided to ask instead of walking towards her son in an attempt to clear the tense atmosphere between them. A small smile could still be spotted on her features and in a way Jungkook felt a bit bad for her. Right now she must have wanted nothing more than to hug her son and not knowing if he would want that as well must hurt.
"I've had a rough few years but finally things are starting to look up again." Taehyung then answered truthfully to which a surprised look became visible on his mother's face. "Ohh?" she spoke in a questioning manner, hoping Taehyung would tell her more about what he'd done and what had happened in his life these past seven years.
Taehyung sighed deeply before he spoke again. " I left Suenghoon and his plans behind me once I found out about what his actual plans were." Taehyung spoke while he kept looking at his mother. "I could not support the downfall of Korea mom." The blonde continued to which Seoyun looked back at him with a compassionate look on her face. This time she didn't hesitate and walked forward before she engulfed her son in a hug. Taehyung's whole body immediately tensed upon feeling her hug him but soon he relaxed again before wrapping his arms around her. Right now it didn't matter to him what had happened in the past. He just wanted the warmth and comfort his mother had always brought him. He wanted her to hug him, now more than ever.
The two of them hugged for a while before they let go of each other again. A happy smile could be spotted on Seoyun's face and she looked at her son with a loving look on her face. "I knew you'd eventually find out and walk over to the right side Taehyung." The brown haired woman spoke before she grabbed her son's hand and locked eyes with him again. "There's a lot we need to talk about I guess. How about I invite you boys inside and we'd discuss everything under the pleasure of a cup of tea and some home made cookies?" she asked and immediately Taehyung nodded his head.
"I'd love that."
