Chapter 27

"I'm so full, I feel like I'm gonna explode." Jimin spoke as he leaned back in his chair and rubbed a hand over his belly, a content smile plastered on his face. Jungkook smiled at him while he too laid down his chopsticks and pushed the bowl in front of him a bit backwards. Currently the whole team was eating the dinner the brunette and Taehyung had cooked for them and by the looks of it everyone liked it a lot.

Jin in particular was enjoying his meal. He felt a bit guilty that he hadn't been able to cook the meal himself and he had also been worried the recipe he had chosen for today would turn out to be too difficult for the two younger males. However they had done a great job and that made the eldest of the group enjoy every bite he took of it. It was nice to know he had some people he could count on whenever he wasn't available to cook.

"Have you made any progress with finding the chip Jungkook?" Namjoon spoke as he too finished his bowl of noodles, a curious look visible on his face. Immediately Jungkook shook his head while a soft sigh left his lips. "Unfortunately not." The brunette admitted while locking eyes with Namjoon. Ever since the chip got stolen the hacker had done everything in his might to try and find the damn thing back but that unfortunately turned out to be nearly impossible. Right now it could be anywhere in the world and Jungkook didn't even have a single clue to start from. He was looking for something that might as well be invisible, getting it back like this was impossible.

"Try again today, we have to find it." Namjoon answered, a slightly disappointed look  covering his features. Jungkook softly nodded his head before he focused his gaze on the table in front of him. Trying again would be absolutely pointless and he knew that Namjoon knew that as well. However the elder was working with exactly as little as he was working with and both of them knew it was essential for them to find that chip back so Jungkook would try again, even if he knew he would be wasting his time that way.

"He has tried to find it Namjoon, way too many times already. This isn't working." Taehyung suddenly cut in. Immediately both Jungkook and Namjoon's eyes shot towards the blonde and Namjoon raised his eyebrows before a soft sigh left his lips. "I know that Taehyung but we can't just sit around and do nothing about this whole situation. A lot of people depend on us finding that chip." The older male spoke as he looked at the blonde with an intense look in his eyes. Namjoon clearly didn't like the fact that Taehyung didn't want Jungkook to look for the chip and he made that crystal clear to him.

"Exactly and that's why it's about time we stop fooling around and get to getting the damn chip back." Taehyung spoke before he looked at Jungkook and smiled in his direction. "You agree with me don't you? We need a different strategy to get the chip back." Jungkook looked from Taehyung to Namjoon and then back to Taehyung while  he nodded slightly. "I suppose it wouldn't hurt us to try something else. All my other attempts to track the chip failed miserably so I guess we could try something new."

Namjoon sighed softly at Jungkook agreeing with Taehyung before he locked eyes with the blonde once more. "What do you have in mind Tae?" the grey haired male asked while he rested his head against one of his fists, an overall tired look covering his features. In a way Jungkook felt sorry for Namjoon, the older had been through so much and yet it had all been for nothing. His perfect plan turned out to not be so perfect and it had already cost them more than enough.

"Let's involve Johnny in all of this. He was the last of us to see that damn chip so figuring out what he did with it could help us get at least one step closer to it." Taehyung spoke and immediately both Jungkook and Namjoon their eyes grew as big as saucers. "Are you out of your mind? He betrayed us once  already Taehyung.  What makes you think he won't do it a second time?" Namjoon spoke, disbelief clearly lacing his tone.

"He won't, I'm pretty sure if I talk to him that he will help us." Taehyung answered to which Jungkook turned towards Taehyung and put a hand on his shoulder. "You know you don't have to do that for us right? We can just try and locate it again." Jungkook spoke, knowing fully well how the older male had reacted the last time he had spoken to his former best friend. Taehyung was putting a heavy burden upon himself just because Jungkook couldn't find that damn chip and in a way the brunette felt extremely guilty for it. He didn't like seeing the older male stressed and now he was going to stress himself out because of him not being able to do a stupid job.

"And where did that get us the last five times Jungkook?" Taehyung answered back and when he was only met with silence from the brunette he quickly continued. "Exactly, absolutely nowhere. Johnny knows what happened to that chip after he stole it from us. He is our best chance at finding it. Asking him is the only chance we have." The blonde then spoke before Namjoon softly nodded and locked eyes with Taehyung. "You're absolutely sure you want to do this?" Taehyung immediately sighed before he looked at the other two males. "He's our only shot at finding that chip, I have to."

"Very well then, we're counting on you Taehyung." Namjoon then spoke before he focused his gaze on Jungkook once more. "Can you set up your stuff in case we need it? Taehyung go get Johnny for us please and bring him to Jungkook and me." The grey haired male spoke and immediately everyone sprung into action. The whole team helped clean the dinner table before everyone except Namjoon and Jungkook left the kitchen to go and wait in the living room.

An anxious feeling slowly began to creep up Jungkook's chest. The brunette had been so concerned for Taehyung having to talk to Johnny that he hadn't even considered how he would feel himself with having Johnny around. The last time the elder had been close to him he had seen someone die and the time before that it had almost cost Jungkook him his own life. It wasn't like they'd ended the time they'd spend together on a positive note, no it was far from that. In his whole career Jungkook had met a lot of people who he hadn't felt at ease around but Johnny was on a whole different level according to Jungkook. No one had come as close as to almost kill him. No one except Johnny and if it hadn't been for Taehyung Jungkook was pretty sure the other brunette would have ended his life without thinking twice.

It only took Taehyung 5 minutes to come out of the bedroom again with Johnny and enter the kitchen. The first thing Jungkook noticed about the other male was that he looked tired. Black circles were surrounding his eyes and his eyes looked dull compared to what they'd looked like back in their previous hide out. The second thing Jungkook noticed about Johnny was that he appeared to be a bit thinner that the last time he'd seen him. Of course the brunette knew from what Jin had told him that Johnny hadn't been eating well but he had no idea it was as bad as this. And the 3th and most terrifying thing that Jungkook noticed was that he wasn't wearing any sort of handcuffs. Taehyung apparently had decided that it'd be best if the other brunette would be free to use his legs and arms and the hacker didn't understand why one bit. It wasn't exactly like Johnny liked any of them and now he had the freedom to just take whatever he saw and use it as a weapon against them.

As soon as Johnny and Taehyung came closer to Jungkook and Namjoon the hacker began to feel more and more nerves taking possession of his body and he gulped visibly while keeping a close watch on Johnny.  He didn't trust the elder at all and he was surely not about to let his guard down as long as he was near him. Taehyung however noticed the tense look on Jungkook's face and he briefly walked over to him before putting a hand on his shoulder and softly squeezed it before he leaned down himself. "Relax Kook, I'll personally make sure he won't even be able to lay a finger on you. Trust me." The blonde whispered in his ear and immediately a soft sigh left Jungkook's mouth while he softly nodded his head, his nerves starting to calm down. He still didn't trust Johnny one bit but he did trust Taehyung. He trusted the blonde more than himself at this  point. Taehyung had saved his life twice already and Jungkook was pretty sure he'd do  it a 3th time if it would be necessary. If he said he'd protect him then Jungkook believed him. After all, Taehyung had proven that fact twice already.

"I know why you brought me here Taehyung." Johnny suddenly spoke while he looked at the three males in the room. "I don't know where the chip is. I gave it to Suenghoon once I had gotten it in my possession and he then took it somewhere else." Johnny spoke to which a frustrated sigh left Namjoon's mouth.'' So you too have no idea where the damn thing is." The grey haired male spoke, his eyes displaying a hint of anger in them. "Absolutely fucking great."

Taehyung ignored Namjoon before he turned to Johnny once more. "Did you ask him where he was gonna take it?" the blonde spoke to which Johnny nodded. "I did, however he didn't tell me. He only answered some weird lines which didn't make sense to me at all." Johnny answered to which Taehyung raised his eyebrows. "What lines?"

Johnny looked hesitant at first but softly sighed before he answered his former best friend. " In order to be on top of the pyramid you gotta be willing  to take risks others  aren't willing to take." Johnny answered and immediately Taehyung's eyes grew big before he looked at Jungkook and Namjoon. "I've heard him say those words before. He used to always say that to my mother whenever they'd have an argument with each other." The blonde spoke to which Namjoon immediately changed his pose and looked at Taehyung with a serious look on his face. "So there's a chance she knows what those words mean." Namjoon concluded while looking at Taehyung who was becoming a bit pale. The blonde nodded hesitantly before Namjoon immediately told Jungkook to find her. Jungkook looked hesistant at first and looked at Taehyung to make sure he was okay with it. The blonde immediately noticed the younger seeking confirmation from him and he softly nodded before he sat down next to Jungkook and gave him his phone. "This is the last mobile number I have of her."

It didn't take Jungkook long to find out where the woman they were now looking for was hiding herself. A big red dot was glowing on a small farm just outside of Seoul and the brunette was positive that that was the place where Taehyung's mother had moved herself to after leaving this apartment. Jungkook smiled slightly before he pointed to the screen. "I traced her number back to this farm, if she still has that number then I'm positive this is where she is living now."

Taehyung looked at Jungkook's laptop screen with great caution and to Jungkook it almost looked like the blonde was hypnotized by  it. Taehyung didn't even blink once and an unreadable expression had begun to cover the male's features. Immediately a concerned feeling began to fill up the brunette and he looked at Taehyung with worry in his eyes. The older male once again began to hide his feeling from anyone around him and that was bad. He finally had begun to open up more and Jungkook hated to see the two of them go back to Taehyung not trusting him with his feelings.

"Are you okay?" Jungkook asked as he laid one of his hands on the blonde's knee. Immediately Taehyung tore his gaze from the laptop screen and looked Jungkook straight in his eyes. His face was completely void of any emotion and it pained Jungkook to see the elder hide again. Especially when his eyes betrayed the anxious feeling that he was actually feeling. Taehyung quickly looked down after seeing the worry on Jungkook's face before he stood up from his chair. "I'm going to smoke a sigaret." The elder announced before he turned around and walked away. Jungkook looked in the direction Taehyung had just gone and a compassionate feeling began to make it's way into his chest. He felt so bad for Taehyung.

"Go after him, I'll take care of Johnny." Namjoon then spoke and quickly Jungkook turned around before he nodded and stood up from his chair to follow where Taehyung had gone. The brunette reached the balcony in no time and immediately the familiar frame of Taehyung with a cigarette between his lips came into view. As much as Jungkook didn't like the smell of the smoke that emerged from it he softly sighed before he opened the door and walked up to stand right next to Taehyung. The brunette knew damn well by now that smoking was some sort of coping mechanism for the elder and right now he looked like he really needed it and thus there was no reason for Jungkook to comment on how bad smoking was for his health or anything. Taehyung right now just needed a cigarette and Jungkook understood why.

"Are you okay? You looked quite pale back in the kitchen." Jungkook decided to speak as he leaned back against the railing of the balcony. Taehyung took another drag from his sigaret before he briefly closed his eyes. "I really don't know." The elder answered as he stared of into the distance. A confused look was visible on his face and while Jungkook was happy that the blonde wasn't hiding his emotions any more he still felt like he needed to be there for Taehyung.

"I'm so confused Kook, you have no idea." Taehyung then confessed and Jungkook nodded slightly while staying silent. He wanted Taehyung to get everything that was bothering him off his chest and the only way he could do that was to show him he was there for him and was listening. "Part of me is excited to see my mother again because I missed her while another part of me is angry at her for leaving me in the first place." Taehyung then continued while a deep sigh left his mouth. "And right now I really don't know which of those feelings is dominating more." The blonde spoke as he threw away his cigarette, apparently not having the urge to smoke anymore.

Jungkook softly nodded before he smiled slightly at Taehyung. "It's a though situation indeed. I understand that." Jungkook spoke before he stepped to the side, his shoulder now touching Taehyung's. "But you don't need to choose which one is the stronger emotion you're feeling right now Tae. You'll know exactly which one it is as soon as you see her." The brunette spoke before he turned to look at the sky above them. A mixture of blue, orange and pink was decorating the sky and Jungkook smiled brightly, knowing that they would soon have to make place for a million pretty stars.

"Emotions are like the sky Tae, they change often and that's okay. The sun shines  when it's her turn just like the stars and moon do when it's theirs. The same goes for emotions, the right one will come up to the surface when it's time." Jungkook spoke as he rested his head against the  older male's shoulder. Taehyung softly nodded his head "I guess you're right." The blonde spoke before he too rested his own head on top of Jungkook's. Upon feeling the elder relax Jungkook's smile began to widen itself while he briefly closed his eyes.

The two of them stayed in that position until the sun finally had gone down and the  cool air of the night began to engulf them completely. Even though Taehyung was still a bit anxious about how he would react upon seeing his mother tomorrow he knew Jungkook had been right. He'd know how he wanted to react upon seeing her for the first time in so long as soon as he'd see her. Both males decided to go to sleep soon after their moment together on the balcony, tomorrow would be a busy  day for the both of them and they had to be well rested.

As the both of them went to bed Taehyung kept on thinking about how Jungkook had once more managed to make him feel at ease with a situation that was  hard for  him. The brunette had turned out to  be a great friend and he  always knew just what to say. Somewhere deep down Taehyung he had begun to develop a soft spot  for  the younger and he could easily admit by now that Jungkook had become special to him. He liked having the hacker around and a soft smile began to form onto his face as he slowly drifted off to sleep.

Who knew that while he had lost one friend during this mission he'd gain another?
