Appearance: Hawthorne's a tall, muscular man, with tanned skin and a high-wattage smile, the kind that seems to fill the whole room. He's earned himself a few scars over the years, the most notable being the white line scratched over his nose that trails under his right eye and curls up close to his ear, and the thin scar that cuts across his throat (which he claims was deep enough to scar, but shallow enough that he wasn't in any real danger). When not out on a job, Hawthorne dresses in a sleeveless, double-breasted, high-collared royal blue vest and matching pants, which he tucks into knee-length gray-leather boots. His armor - summoned using his Requip magic - consists only of a silver shoulder guard on his left side; its placement is only due to Hawthorne's belief that he needs protection on his non-dominant side. When on jobs, he'll also requip his various shields, which he uses for both offense and defense.

His guild mark - a golden rose-head surrounded by a ring of stars - is situated on his right shoulder.

Personality: Hawthorne tends to be a "go with the flow" kind of guy when the mood strikes him, smiling broadly, laughing too loudly, taking things as they come and dealing with them one at a time. He has a strangely one-track mind, though, when something he deems important crops up - for example, on a job, he's quite willful and sober, working systematically until his goal is accomplished. It's that side of him that the magazines absolutely love, and it's what earned him a spot on the "Top 10 Mages You'd Want as Your Boyfriend" list, with his stoic charm apparently wooing the ladies of the land. His guildmates tease him for it all the same, as they know how meek he tends to be outside of a battle, but he always brushes them off with his signature good-humor. The one thing that rattles him is when people show him affection beyond that of simple friendship, and he usually avoids meeting up with people who claim to be his fans because of this, knowing he gets so nervous he stutters and blushes, and generally makes a fool of himself. His nervousness has also led him to develop hives on occasion.

Because of his nation-wide persona, people often compare him to Erza Scarlet of Fairy Tail, citing his similar magic as another reason for the comparison. Hawthorne doesn't see the resemblance.

Short History: [under construction] Hawthorne was raised alongside his older brother for most of his childhood, with a loving family and a comfortable life. They lived in peace until the day a bounty was put on the head of one of their residents, a former S-Class mage, and several dark guilds descended on their town. Hawthorne lost his family in the confusion of the multiple attacks, but he stumbled across his brother in the midst of it; he was overjoyed and relieved at first, believing they might be able to escape together and locate their parents, but he was dismayed to find that his brother had joined with one of the dark guilds, "to escape such a boring life," he reasoned. Hawthorne was left alive despite his brother's reservations, and once he found his mother (his father having died in the attack), he resolved to become strong enough to drag his brother back from the darkness.
