Ch.5 Lamentis 1

~Y/n pov~

I woke up to arms wrapped around my waist.

Rubbing my eyes, I looked around in confusion.

Oh yeah.. we we're on the train.

Sylvie had her arms around my waist, her face buried in my shoulder.

I gently shook her awake.

She didn't move away like I expected her to, instead she took her head off my shoulder and kept her arm around my waist, pulling me towards her.

I noticed Loki singing and drinking. Everyone else was joining in.

So much for not bringing attention to us.

"What is the idiot doing?" Sylvie asked.

I sighed, "I'd tell you if I knew."

Planning to beckon him over, I waved my hand at him.

He simply waved back excitedly and continued to sing.

"Let's go get the idiot." I stated, pulling Sylvie up and heading towards him.

"You're drunk." Sylvie stated.

"No. I'm just full." Loki responded.

I sighed. Does he not realise the situation we're in?

"Oh, don't be like that." Loki stated, pulling me into a tight hug.

"We don't have time for this you idiot." I told him.

I turned and noticed Sylvie glaring at Loki.

She grabbed my arm and pulled me away from Loki.

"Where's your uniform? We're meant to be laying low." Sylvie asked.

"Nobody cares. It's the end of the world."

I noticed some guards coming up behind us.

"Actually.." I pointed at them, "I think they care."

Sylvie's eyes widened as she grabbed my arm and pulled me behind her.

Loki turned to see what we were looking at.

"Sir, can I see your tickets?"

Loki put his hands up as a gun was pointed at him.

He smiled nervously, "Tickets.. of course."

He held out his hand and small fireworks formed above it, "Oops. Looks lovely though, doesn't it?"

The guard restrained his and started dragging him away.

"Is this really necessary? There is a simple explanation." Loki started.

The guard shoved Loki so he shoved them back.

It eventually turned into a fight.

"Get out of the way." A guard approached me and Sylvie.

She whacked them and blocked the hit coming our way.

I grabbed her hand, "This way."

Taking a running start, I jumped through the window, using my body to protect Sylvie's.

We rolled a bit before coming to a stop.

I glanced down at her, "Are you okay?"

She raised an eyebrow at me, "Are you okay? You just jumped out of a window."

I got up and held out my hand to her.

She accepted it and pulled herself up, "You didn't answer my question."

"Yeah, I'm fine."

Sylvie let out a breath of relief.

"You're not okay.. are you?" I smiled sadly.

"No, no I'm not." Sylvie took in a shaky breath and then pulled me into her arms.

I wrapped my arms around my waist tightly, my other playing with her hair.

"We'll be okay, I hope." I tried to reassure her.

She chuckled and pulled away from the hug, smiling softly at me.

We heard a grunt and noticed Loki land on the ground a few meters away from us.

He stood up and dusted himself off, looking around for us.

When he spotted us, he walked over.

Sylvie pulled out a dagger and pointed it at his throat.

"Give me the tempad!" She demanded.

"All right. All right. Okay." Loki agreed, pulling it out of his pocket.

It was broken. Probably broke when he fell.

"This is just great." I smiled sarcastically.

"Well.. I did take quite the tumble." Loki commented after seeing the state it was in.

"You asshole. You killed us." Sylvie spat out, gritting her teeth.

"Maybe we can fix it. Okay? Um.." somehow Loki was still remaining calm.

Sylvie was clearly not calm and I was starting to panic.

"We're gonna die." I glanced at Loki, "Again."

"You're not a serious man." Sylvie commented after watching him fiddle with it for a few seconds.

Loki dropped it on the floor, "You're right. I'm a God."

I started talking deep breaths, trying to stay calm.

"You're a clown. You got drunk on a train." Sylvie spat out insult after insult.

When she saw me panicking, her eyes widened slightly.

She placed her hands on my shoulders, "Calm down."

I looked at her blankly, tears running down my cheeks.

"We'll get out of here. I promise." She gently wiped the tears off my cheeks, "Look at me, okay? I'll protect you."

I nodded and rested my head on her shoulder.

Out of the corner of my eye I saw Sylvie shoot a glare at Loki.

Loki just looked concerned.

I yelped quietly when Sylvie suddenly picked me up.

We were around the same height so I wasn't expecting her to be able to pick me up.

She cradled me to her chest.

I relaxed into her arms.

Sylvie started walking away from Loki. He tried to talk to her but she kept ignoring him.

After walking a small distance, Sylvie placed me down on a rock and took a few steps away before screaming.

After screaming she came back over to me and sat down beside me.

"Did that makes you feel better?" Loki asked, sitting on the other side of me.

"It did actually. Maybe you should try it."

He wrapped his arm around my waist and leant down so his warm breath hit my ear.

"I'm sorry." He whispered.

I nodded, leaning into him and resting my head on his shoulder.

Sylvie shuffled closer to me.

I smiled at her and held my arm out to her.

She smirked and snuggled into my side.

Sylvie shifted slightly and placed a light peck on my temple before moving back into a more comfortable position.

I was melting in their embrace. It was so comforting.

"What now?" I asked. I had managed to calm down so thankfully I didn't have any voice cracks.

Loki rubbed my back in a soothing manner, "I'm not sure."

"Maybe if someone didn't break the tempad.." Sylvie growled.

"Enough with the arguing. It'll get us nowhere."

They both grumbled but quickly agreed.

"We're going to die, aren't we?" I asked in a panicked tone.

I already knew the answer.

Sylvie grabbed onto my hand and ran her thumb over my knuckles.

"Well, I'm glad I got to see you again. Even if we die here." Sylvie sighed, "I missed you so much."

"I don't remember but.. I like you.. a lot." I smiled nervously, trying to read her facial expression.

She smiled and hugged me tightly, "I love you."

Loki finally spoke up, "Well, I also love Y/n."

If we were going to die. I might as well just say whatever I want to say.

"I love you, too.. both of you."

They both sent each other playful glares.

At least it didn't seem like they wanted to kill each other anymore.

"What if we hijack the ark?" Sylvie asked.

"Let's go." I nodded and stood up.

We might as well try.

I grabbed both of Loki and Sylvie's hands and let Sylvie guide me.

"I've never walked this much in my life." Loki commented.

I scoffed, "Talk about privileged."

"Here's an idea. What if you enchanted me and you could walk for both of us?" Loki turned to Sylvie with an expectant look, "Or I take a nap in my subconscious and you could just wake me up when we arrive. Yeah?"

"Yeah, that's not how enchantment works." Sylvie told him matter of factly.

"All right, how does it work?"

I turned to look at Sylvie, also interested in her answer.

"You know. I really don't know much about you." Loki told Sylvie.

"Thanks for the tactical advantage."

"So, you're gonna kill me?"

I squeezed both of their hands.

It took them a few seconds to squeeze back.

Sylvie sent me a look and then huffed, "Okay, fine. You want to know how enchantment works."

"Maybe you could teach me." I smiled.

She smiled back, "Maybe... I have to make physical contact and then grab hold of their mind."

She started to explain.

"How?" I asked.

"It depends on the mind. Most are easy and I can overtake them instantly. Others, the stronger ones, it gets tricky. I'm in control, but they're there, too."

"What happens then?"

Sylvie smiled because I was showing an interest in her powers, "In order to preserve the connection, I have to create a fantasy from their memories."

"And you call me a magician." Loki said.

"That young soldier from the TVA, her mind was messed up. Everything clouded. Had to pull a memory from a hundred years prior, before she joined them."

I paused in my steps making both Sylvie and Loki stop.

"So I was right? It wasn't just me. Everyone in the TVA is a variant."

Sylvie nodded.

"Hang on a minute. Before she joined the TVA? They're all variants." Loki gasped.

"Yeah. They were all just regular people." I smiled sadly, "Pulled away from their lives and had all their memories locked away."

"I thought everyone who worked for the TVA was created by the Time Keepers. Well, except for Y/n." Loki frowned, "Things have changed. Let's take down the TVA."

Sylvie smirked, "Now that I can agree on. That's our ride."

She sped up in the direction of the ark.

We broke out into a run, heading into the town.

It was chaotic. So many people were trying to force their way on.

"This way." Sylvie led us around the outside.

We didn't manage to get on. It was over.
