The egg was hatching. Right this second. She had to get out. Now.

The baby eevee pushed against the eggshell with all her strength. The egg cracked, and blinding sunlight poured in from a rich canopy. She could see two faces looking down at her.

"Daughter!" the leafeon cried. "Come to me." She held out her tortilla-brown paws at the eevee, and she touched it lightly with her own russet-brown ones.

"Aww, look how smart she is already!" the umbreon cooed, beaming at her. "Welcome to the world, little one."  The eevee grinned at him.

The eevee saw two other eggs beside her. this must be my siblings, she thought, and cuddled the eggs closer to her. The eggs began hatching, and other eevees popped out. they smiled at her, and she smiled back. Father, the umbreon, gave them each a pendant. The baby eevee looked at hers. it had a ruby on it. Her sisters' had sapphires and emeralds. "We decieded to call you rubi, sapphye, and emer," said mother, the leafeon. "but you can choose who you want to be, when your older." The eevees grinned.
