Dimitri

Being in a werewolf pack had its moments. Most of the times the wolves avoided us like some contagious disease. I still don't understand why though. It's not like I was going to wake up one day and just decide to kill them. Besides, vampires can't feed on werewolves. Their blood is poisonous to us. Again it would render us a slow painful death if we drank it. I of course being an original vampire would be injured severely. Only the alpha's blood could actually kill me.

I am currently wondering in the forest looking for a meal. See, the pack did give us blood from their blood bank, but I wasn't a fan of it. Having fresh blood was always better. I couldn't get fresh human blood since I was too far away from human civilization. So, animal blood would have had to suffice for now. The blood from the blood bank was frozen so, it had to be rewarmed for us to drink. Just like how soggy warmed up food in a microwave tasted so, too did the blood when it was warmed. But at least they had blood for us right? Beggars can't be choosers.

After I fed on a total of seven rabbits, I was finally satisfied. I felt rejuvenated and ready to go visit some witches. So, I headed back to the pack house where I was going to meet Damien. It was time of us to leave for the cemetery. Now I know you thinking but why go to a cemetery at night? Well, I am a vampire and that means I am stronger at night. There problem solved. Besides, the witches always were present at their covens at night. They too, like vampires were creatures of the night.

"You ready to go, Damien said as soon as I reached the clearing. I noticed that there was blood dripping from the side of his mouth. It seemed that he too had gone to get his feed before our trip

Luckily our trip wasn't going to be too long. It seemed even the witches hid away from human civilization. So, they were close to the pack.

We could not walk into the cemetery as we needed to be given entrance, so we stopped at the gates of the cemetery. It is said that if a vampire tries to enter a premises without permission, they could actually die. Well, normally the beast in us will fight us to go back in attempts to save us. This time even I an original vampire would die as well. So, I was not about to be taking my chances.

"Enter," a voice said in my head. I was so surprised that turned to look around me to locate this voice. However, there was no body present. "Did you hear that? Damien asked. This was the first we had spoken since our journey here. I wanted to speak with Damien and clear things up but it felt awkward. Eventually too much silence had surpassed and so, I refrained from speaking. Which was coward of me but oh well. Damien could be tortured a little longer. Who knows how long he and my sister had been creeping around behind my back.

Suddenly, a little child appeared in front of us out of nowhere. Well, I was distracted trying to locate the voice so maybe I am wrong. This child wore a dark red cloak that covered their face. So I wasn't really sure if it even was a child under the cloak. But they were very small. The child then raised their right hand motioning for us to follow them. So we did. I guess we had been given entrance. I was surprised that they didn't ask us any questions before letting us in.

Damien and I followed the child into the cemetery. As soon as we stepped onto the grounds, the child began running away from us. We sped up after the child as we had no idea where else to go. After a few turns which were mostly right, the child suddenly stopped. The child turned around rapidly and somehow the cloak's hoodie flew off. And to my surprise there was no body inside the cloak. This was odd. But then again, I was walking in a cemetery at night.

I then took a peak around me and realized that we were back where we started. The gate to enter the cemetery was right behind us. Of course the witches would play some game with us.

"Come in," the same voice I heard in my head earlier said again. Before I could even process what was happening, a door appeared where the cloak had disappeared. The door then opened extremely slowly. The hinges of the door were pretty old and so the door creaked as it opened, breaking the suffocating silence. Damien then walked all around the door and saw nothing. It was just a door standing in the pathway in middle of a cemetery. An old rusted red door that wasn't here before until now.

I then walked into the door since the voice did say come in. The door was a portal as it led me into a passage way. There was candles lit all along the wall way in the passage. I patiently waited for Damien to enter before walking on. As soon as he got in as well, the door shut with a bang. Then the door slowly transformed into a brick wall. I guess we had nowhere else but forward to go then.

Damien and I then walked down the passage way together in silence. I was too immersed in my surroundings to talk now. Besides, I don't know who is watching or listening to us behind these walls.

There were all kinds of ancient writings on all along the walls. The walls were pitch black with drawings on them that looked like hieroglyphics. I was a bit disturbed that the hieroglyphics were written in blood. Also the fact that I could make sense of what was written on the wall bothered me. The candles gave off shadows based on the angles that they were laid which just added to the creepiness of this corridor. Not to mention that there were human skulls decorating the walls every now and then. The skulls were all infested with colorful poisonous spiders.

All in all I was ready to get out of here. I always stayed away from witches. They liked mind games. It was like they could just look at you and figure out your fears. Then they would play on that fear. I was currently keeping a stoic face but deep down this corridor did get to me. Gosh, I hate witches. They were physically weaker than us. But whenever a vampire encountered a witch, the vampire would not come out unscathed. At least we could drink witch blood. In fact their blood made us stronger while it was in our system.

The corridor seemed to go on forever. I was sick of this game. Just as I was about to tell Damien that we should leave, I heard a voice behind us say, "Dimitri the prince of Vampires." It was the same voice that spoke in my head when I was outside. But now it was no longer in my head. I whipped my head around quite fast hoping to see who it belonged to and saw a young lady.

She was dark-skinned. Compared to Rebecca, she was a bit lighter in complexion though. She had the same hair like Rebecca. An afro, I think was the name. But Rebecca's hair was much curlier and longer than hers. Now that I think of it there was quite a bit of resemblance between the two of them. Could they be related? No there was no way Rebecca was a witch. I would know right? Besides, I can't start thinking that every black girl is somehow related to Rebecca.

I realized that the woman before me was expecting a response from me. "Yes that would be me and this is Damien," I said as I pointed to him next to me. She looked at him and nodded in acknowledgement." Follow me, "she said. She turned around and began walking.

And so, Damien and I followed.

"You are looking for a witch powerful or stupid enough to help you against your sister, the mix breed," She casually said as she continued to walk ahead of us. How did she know any of this? We were now climbing stairs that appeared out of nowhere. What was this place?

At least we were out of the creepy corridor. "You wonder how I have come to gather all this knowledge," she said again in the same casual tone and then turned to face me. She could read my mind. What sorcery was this? Witches can't read minds. They could play on emotions yes, but not read minds. That is impossible. Before I could even question her on this matter a door suddenly appeared behind her. The woman opened a door without even turning to look at it as she kept her gaze on me. Then she said, "My grandmother will speak to you now." Before, I could even respond, she disappeared right in front of us.

I looked into the room through the door and it was dark. Luckily I had night vision. After a few seconds, my eyes focused and I saw that the room was basically empty. The walls were void of any writing. There was simply an old woman laying on a bed in the far right corner of the room. She had grey hair that was braided into cornrows. This I knew because I learnt a lot about hair from Rebecca. The old woman looked at me and she smiled. "Come in, my son," she said.

And so we entered the room.
