Chapter 5

The ball was over in a time long after I had arrived. An eternity at most. By how long it felt, I might be right on that note. Gratefully I had not run into my "fiancee" again this night. It was often too awkward to be around my kidnapper, a king, and my soon-to-be.

"Your Majesty," Yet another male vampire approached me with a drunken smile of blood stained teeth. His eyes raked over me with greed. "How lovely to meet your acquaintance. It's such an honor to meet my future Queen."

A forced smile, the one I had all night, lay still plastered upon my face. Fake feelings of joy and excitement filling my body. "Oh hello! The honor is all mine." My legs tipped slightly into the barest hint of a curtsy of respect.

"Please," He lifted me up by my elbow easily. "Do not curtsy to me, a mere Squire. I should be bowing to you." He released my arm, his fingers, no doubt purposely, lingering on my arm a second longer. A single curl slipped in front of his left eye, reminding me a little like Superman.

"Please don't." My reply was almost a groan. I had already received plenty of bows and curtsies, and it didn't feel right.

"Why not?" He laughed. "It's respect for such a beautiful woman, such as yourself." His smile glowed, but the redness dimmed the shine and sickened my non-blood craving mind. However, my throat lurched.

Instantly, Chase appeared at my side, curling his arm around my waist tightly. "Why hello, Sir Treyton." His voice was dark and menacing, not the light-hearted tone he had used earlier. "I see you have met my fiancee."

"Trey, Your Majesty." He responded, his frown slipping as he turned to the King. "And indeed, I have, such a keeper I should say." He winked at me.

"How dare you say that to the Queen!" Chase hissed. You could nearly see steam shooting out his ears. "I think you've done enough conversing for one day." He swiped a hand in front of his throat, and when he opened his mouth to speak, his head slid clean off his body. Blood pooled around the corpse quickly as it shattered like ice.

People stopped to gasp and stare, shaking their heads in disapproval, which was obviously directed at whatever they believe Trey had done to be punished so severely. Maybelle swept in fast and got rid of the mess, leaving the floor spotless once more.

As the others begin to dance or do whatever once more, I stood still, staring at what used to be an existing being. Now he was nothing. When Chase turned to leave once more, I spun to grab his arm tightly, a flame raging inside of me. "What the hell did you do?" The voice rocketing from my throat was loud and powerful, dark and evil, Nothing like it usually is.

His eyes, they way they flicked in change as he reacted to what I was doing. I didn't know if I should've been scared, or what, because at that moment, nothing mattered except for what I was doing. "Excuse me?" All eyes turned to stare again.

"You heard me," I hissed, my grip growing tighter around his forearm, at a strength that felt as if it wasn't normal, which obviously it wasn't. Something that would really hurt. He pried it off fast, crushing my hand in his fist, not affected at all.

Flames danced in his pupils, faring me to say something else to him before they swallow me whole into a pit of eternal Hell. "Lucy, love, why don't we quit overreacting and go back to the party, hm?" His tone had said it to where it meant, drop it now, or you're next. The people had the looks, knowing what it had meant also.

Growling, I slapped him across the face, his cheek jerking to the side roughly, After he snapped back to me, I instantly regretted it as his anger melted into me, fueling my fears as he grabbed my other hand, booming, "Enough!" A gasp was held in the silent air above the room of people. "This has gone too far." Chase began to pull me towards to exit.

My energy faded, confidence gone. I desperately cried out, trying to take my arm back and run the other way, but he was far too strong at the moment. "Please, no! I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." He continued to drag me as if I weighed nothing. "Let me go!"

"How many times must I say that you don't order me!" By the time he had said that, we had already made it to a dark room, nothing like the one he had me in the last few...however many hours I was here. Forcibly I was shoved in and the door slammed itself shut with a click. Encasing me in complete darkness,
