"I hate you! I do!" I screamed, kicking helplessly at the door, "Sick bastard."

"I wouldn't say such words about His Highness, Your Majesty,"
Turning around, I could see a faint figure in the corner of the room, curled into herself, as if hiding from shadows. It was the girl that had escorted me earlier. "He can get temperamental at times."

"Wait, why are you in here too?" I asked, curiosity yet again pushing to be free. "Why aren't you out there?"

"This is where they keep me until I am needed. So I will not be in the way." Her voice, soft and quiet, completely monotone. "This is sort of like my bedroom, if you find that easier understand."

"That isn't right."

"Whatever the king says is law. His words decide our rights and wrongs,"

For a moment I stay in silence, thinking over her words, before sitting down next to her, wrapping my arms around my knees. "How long have you been here?"

"All my life, I was born here."

"How long ago was that?"
"We age slower than you all," She informed first, before answering the question. "Each year for us, is a hundred for you. To be technical, I am of nine hundred years of age."

That comment had shocked me, as it should have. "Where are your parents then?"

"Executed."

"What? Why?" If Chase had executed the poor girl's family, I was going to be very angry. The girl seems so sweet, so innocent compared to most of the people I had met in this Vampire country.

"They had broken laws. Nothing further." At this point I've noticed that I've lost her, our conversation had drifted into her thoughts, and she didn't speak any more.

After some thinking of my own, I decided what to think of the place I was in. After all, I had no understanding of what to do, where to go, and what is happening. Before that stupid party, I never saw a "vampire," or heard of any country called Albernanth that was ruled by some sort of Sadistic Vampire King. If I really am trapped here, stuck being with and one of them, what am I going to do?

"My name is Lucy." I said to her, shocking my own self with the words I spoke, "What about you?"

Her red eyes drifted up to look at me, shimmering in the darkness. "His Highness calls me 'the child,'"

"No, not what he calls you. What's your real name?"

A sound, of what seemed like a sniffle was there for a split second, as her voice quietly whispered, as if afraid, "Mama called me Laiah."

And shortly enough, I had drifted to sleep.

Laiah's head rested in the lap of my dress, in a dead still sleep.

-

Throughout the night all I could hear was the sound of the party, and the occasional fast-beat steps of the castle staff bustling around. I brushed through the small vampire's hair with my hand, untangling the knots as I stared out the small window into the eternal darkness of this Hell. In the night, it was a lot different, even more intriguing.

Buildings and homes illuminated in the background, few people lingering about on the streets. It was modern looking, high class furnishing around, but also with it's own touch of medieval. People were free to do as the wished, within their country's laws, obviously, and they just seemed, normal. When imagining a land of demonic vampires you would think bloodshed, destruction, massacred humans. All I saw were people, living their lives.

The deep, dark sky looked down onto glittering rivers and glowing white and red flowers, their essence itself bloomed in innocence, though I doubted a soul around contained anything less than evil. There was a sadness around, thickening the atmosphere. The land, though with it's beauties and colors, was lacking something.

"You look like a mother, or an older sister."

My head snapped away from the window, gazing into the iris's of my Master. "You killed her mother, and probably any other family she might have had."

"I did nothing of the sort." Chase replied smoothly, uncrossing his arms from around his chest as he leaned against the wall. "That was Declan the Third, my father himself. I'm not a demon, Angel."

The still heart in my chest doubtfully felt as if it was pushing against my ribcage to him. "You are a demon. You're a bloodsucking monster."

"But so are you."

"Because of you. I didn't choose this!"

"Do you think I chose my fate?" He stepped foreword, crouching next to me, "I don't control what the Fates decide to draw in our maps of destiny."

Sneering I look away from him to Laiah, who disappeared from my arms. We weren't even in the dark room anymore, but back in his. "Destiny? You're just a cruel man who takes peoples lives for pleasure."

Chase grabbed my chin and forced me to look at him again. "You need to see, Lucy. My life was created to control my kingdom, nothing further." He paused, eyes softening into the most sincere emotion that I have seen from him. "I'm not a demon, Angel."

"Y-" A full word couldn't even escape my mouth before he had pressed his lips against mine in an instant silence.
