Making a Deal with Elijah Part 1

What Lydia's wearing above^^^
Lydia's POV
I'm walking down the stairs in the boarding house still in my pyjamas from last night, I walk into the kitchen and grab a glass of cold water sipping on it before I hear a loud noise outside with running. I place my glass on the kitchen counter and walk towards the front door seeing Elijah outside in a burnt suit and Elena inside handing Elijah the dagger.

"What's going on?" I ask looking in between them extremely confused.

"Lydia." Elena says looking at me shocked.

"What are you doing up?" She asks looking nervous.

"I was getting a glass of water." I say still looking confused.

"It's good to see you again, Lydia." Elijah says.

"Ok, I have no idea what's going on but I'm tired so I'm going back to sleep." I say starting to walk away before Elena pulls me back and starts dragging me outside.

"Kidnapping is a criminal offence, you know that right." I tell her raising an eyebrow, making her roll her eyes helping me into the backseat since I'm disoriented since I just woke up. Elena gets in the front seat and Elijah hops into the passenger seat before Elena starts driving.

A few minutes later Elena stops the car on the side of the road with Elijah drinking out of a blood bag and me in the backseat annoyed since I got dragged into this, literally.

"You look better." Elena comments turning to face Elijah.

"Where did you get the dagger?" He asks her.

"I'll tell you everything. But we have to work together, Elijah. I need your word." Elena tells him.

"Your ability to make demands has long passed." Elijah tells her.

"What if we make a deal instead, since I wasn't actually involved in your... temporary death." I say leaning closer to them looking at Elijah.

"What were you thinking?" He asks me.

"I'm too tired for this, Elena will speak on my behalf." I say leaning back.

"I'm offering you my help and in return I want yours." Elena says.

"And why should I even consider this?" He asks her.

"Well for one you need our help to take down Klaus, I mean that's why you haven't killed Elena and the others yet. You need our help." I say, before Elena's phone starts ringing, she takes it out answering it.

"Yes, I'm fine." She says through the phone.

"He's right here." She says

"No, Stefan, Elijah and I need some time alone." Elena tells him before I reach over and take the cellphone out of her hand and to my ear hearing Stefan's voice.

"Listen to me. He can't be trusted he'll use you to get to Klaus." Stefan says through the phone.

"Oh, your so dramatic." I say rolling my eyes.

"Lydia?" Stefan asks.

"The one and only." I say smiling.

"Your with Elena and Elijah, of course you are." He says sighing.

"Look, I know you want to keep Elena safe and you think Elijah is the opposite of safe, which you would probably be right about but Elijah is a noble and honest man, he lives by a code of honour. We can trust him." I tell Stefan.

"You and Elena can't do this alone." Stefan tells me.

"What was that, I couldn't really hear you." I say

"Lydia..." Stefan says.

"What? I think the phones braking up stef, Bad connection. " I say hanging up on him quickly before giving the phone back to Elena. Elijah holds his hand out for the phone which Elena hands to him, he looks over at me.

"I don't have my phone with me, you guys kidnapped me before I could get it or even get changed for that matter." I say, making Elena roll her eyes and Elijah let out a soft chuckle.

"He's here." Elena tells him.

"Klaus is here?" He asks looking over at Elena.

"Yep. He's possessing Alaric's body, which by the way I found out before anyone else." I say from the back seat.

"Of course he has. One of his favorite tricks." Elijah says looking at Elena and me.

"Well, what are his other tricks? What is he going to do next? You're the only one who knows him." Elena says curious.

"Yes I do." Elijah says.

We arrive at the Lockwood house and I feel really underdressed since I'm still in my pyjamas. Elijah knocks on the door, the door soon opens revealing Carol, Tyler's mom.

"Elijah, Lydia, Elena! What are you doing here? What happened?" She asks confused probably seeing mine and Elijah's appearances.

"I've had a bit of an incident, Carol. I'm hoping you could help." Elijah says politely.

"Well I'm on my way to a meeting so I.." Carol says But gets cut off by Elijah.

"It won't take but a minute of you time." Elijah compels her, making me look at him shocked.

"Of course anything you need." She says with a smile on her face.

"Thank you." He says, we enter the house.

"Well, first things first. I'm going to need a change of clothing." Elijah tells her.

"Well, we can try one of my husband's suits. I haven't boxed them up yet." Carol says.

"Wonderful." He says before she walks upstairs leaving us alone.

"How did you know she's not on vervain?" Elena asks.

"Because He's the one that most likely got her off of it." I tell her.

"Your cousin is correct. I got her off of it, right before you and your friends killed me. Twice. If you'll excuse me. I'll be down in a moment." Elijah tells us before walking upstairs. I walk towards the living room and sit on the couch.

"Lydia, What happened between you and Damon?" Elena asks looking over at me.

"Nothing." I say, Elena sighs and moves to sit next to me.

"Whatever it is you can tell me. What happened Lydia, I know your upset with him." Elena explains to me.

"It's really stupid, It's hardly a thing to get upset or even angry about." I say.

"Well What was it?" She asks wanting to know.

"You know how Klaus was in Alaric's body?" I say looking at her.

"Yeah?" She asks.

"Well, before you guys found out, I had... a feeling that Klaus was in Alaric's body, I was certain of it and Damon didn't believe me." I say.

"Like I said it was stupid to get that upset over something like that." I say.

"Your allowed to feel hurt, Lydia. Damon's your best friend and he refused to believe you." Elena tells me.

"Maybe, But you guys didn't listen to me either, so I really have no right to get that upset." I say shrugging my shoulders.

"I think it just hurt more because it was Damon that didn't believe me, Damon is the one that's always there for me,who always believes me and never doubts me and listens to my problems and what I have to say, even if it's ridiculous, but this time he didn't. It felt like no one was really hearing me and it hurt." I explain to her.

"I had no idea you felt that way. Why didn't you tell me how you were feeling?" She asks.

"I don't know, you had your own problems to deal with and I didn't want to freak you out more especially when Damon kept telling me to let it go." I say.

"You can always tells me anything Lydia, no matter what it is. I'm always here for you and I know we've had a lot going on but you know I'll always make time for you. Your my cousin, I love you." She tells me.

"I love you too." I say bringing her in for a hug.

"Do you think I should forgive Damon?" I ask pulling away.

"Maybe you should tell Damon how you felt and see what he says before you forgive him." Elena suggests.

"Do I have to tell him?" I whine.

"No, but it might bring you two closer as friends and help him better understand what you were feeling." Elena tells me.

"Ok, when I get back I'll talk to him." I say with a small smile.

"Good." She says smiling back before we hear footsteps descending the stairs before Elijah walks into the living room and sits on the couch.

"So I assume the Martin witches are no longer with us?" Elijah asks looking at the both of us.

"No. I'm sorry." Elena says.

"And Katerina? She would have been released from my compulsion when I died." Elijah says.

"Unfortunately." I say under my breathe but Elijah still heard me.

"Klaus took her. We think that she may be dead." Elena informs him.

"I doubt that. Not Klaus's style. Death would be too easy for her after what she did." Elijah explains.

"I don't get it, you tell us you want Klaus dead but... you still made Katherine pay. Why?" I ask looking at him intently curious.

"I have my own reasons for wanting Katerina to pay. There was a time...I'd have done anything for Klaus" Elijah says and starts telling us a story.

"Klaus is your brother?" I ask shocked.

"Yes. Klaus is my brother." Elijah says.

"I heard that. I'm still processing." Elena says.

"Yes, I'm a little behind on the times, but I believe the term you're searching for is O.M.G." Elijah says, making me let out a amused chuckle at what he said.

"There's a whole family of Originals?" Elena asks.

"My father was a wealthy land owner in a village in Eastern Europe. Our mother bore seven children." Elijah tells us.

"Seven children?" I say looking at him surprised.

"So your parents were human?" Elena asks.

"Our whole family was. Our origin as vampires is a very long story, Elena,Lydia. Just know...We're the oldest vampires in the world. We are the Original family, and from us all vampires were created." Elijah explains to the both of us.

"I don't understand something." I say.

"Which is what?" Elijah asks.

"If Klaus is your brother, then why are you helping us kill him?" I ask confused.

"I need some air. I'm still feeling a tad...dead. Come." Elijah says walking away with Elena and I following behind him and outside.

"So as you've seen, nothing can kill an Original. Not Sun, not fire, not even a werewolf bite. Only the wood from one tree. A tree my family made sure burned." Elijah tells us.

"That's where the white ash for the dagger comes from." Elena says.

"Yes. The witches won't allow anything truly immortal to walk the earth. Every creature needs to have a weakness in order to maintain the balance." Elijah explains.

"So if the sun can't kill an Original Vampire, Why is Klaus so obsessed with breaking the stupid curse?" I ask curiously.

"Right. The curse of the sun and the moon. It's all so...biblical-sounding, don't you think?" Elijah says with a smile on his face.

"What's so funny?" I ask narrowing my eyes at him.

"I don't understand. So Klaus drew the Aztec sketches about the curse?" Elena says.

"Roman scrolls, African tribal etchings, and any other culture or continent we felt like planting in it." Elijah's says.

"But why do all that?" I ask confused.

"Easiest way to discover the existence of a doppelgänger or to get your hands on some long, lost moonstone is to have every single member of two warring species on the lookout." Elijah explains.

"So it's not Aztec at all?" Elena asks.

"The curse of the Sun and the Moon...is fake. It doesn't exist." Elijah tells us before starting to walk away.

"What?" Elena and I ask before following after him once again.

"Klaus and I faked the sun and moon curse dating back over a thousand years." Elijah tells us.

"But if there's no curse, then..." I say but get cut off by Elijah.

"There's a curse. Just not that one. The real one's much worse. It's a curse placed on Klaus." Elijah explains.

"What are you talking about?" Elena asks.

"What kind of curse?" I ask confused.

"Klaus has been trying to break it for the last thousand years. And you are his only hope." Elijah says starring at Elena, her phone then starts buzzing from inside Elijah's pocket.

"What is this curse?" Elena asks, but her phone keeps buzzing.

"Your phone will not stop its incessant buzzing. Answer it, please." Elijah says handing Elena her phone, she answers it.

"Stefan...what's wrong? No. No, no, no, no. Okay, I'll be right there." She says hanging up.

"Klaus went after Jenna. I have to go to her." Elena tells him.

"What?" I ask with wide eyes worried.

"I'm afraid that wasn't part of today's arrangement." Elijah says.

"She's my family, Elijah. I have to. I'll be back. You have my word." Elena says.

"I'll stay here while Elena goes."I say speaking up.

"Ok." He says

"Thank you." She says before hugging me.

"I'll be back." She promises.

"When your there could you bring me back a jacket or shoes?" I ask.

"Sure." She says before running to her car leaving Elijah and I alone watching Elena leave.

"Shall we head back inside?" He asks holding his arm out for me.

"I guess." I say linking my arm with his, heading back inside and in the living room, I let go of his arm and sit on the couch I was on before with Elijah beside me.

"I'm curious about something?" Elijah says.

"What is it?" I ask looking towards him.

"How did you end up loving with your cousins?" He asks.

"I moved in with them when I was 10 years old." I say.

"When I was 6 my parents got a divorce, my mum was Elena's mum's younger sister and my dad was a wealthy realestate agent, they loved each other but one day they just seemed to always fight, I heard my mum say that my dad cheated on her multiple times and that this was the last time and she took me with her and left. A few weeks later they got a divorce and I was in the middle of their feuding, every time my dad got me something my mum would go to the extra mile to get me something better and it went the other way as well, it seemed along the way of their fighting they forgot what love was and they stopped treating me like a daughter and more like a prize to be won." I explain to him.

"I hated it, I felt all alone and no one understood. Every time I tried to talk to them about it they would shut me out or just ignore everything I said, every time I had a fight with one of them they would try to buy my forgiveness with expensive gifts, and it stopped feeling like home. It was like that way for years, when I was 9 my mum got murdered." I tell him.

"I'm sorry. Did they ever find out who it was?" He asks.

"No. They never found the person responsible." I say sadly.

"I'm sorry." He says.

"Me too." I say.

"I remember waiting at school for a few hours before the police came and told me what happened, I broke down crying. I couldn't believe that she was dead, I mean when your little you never imagine that someone would ever take away your parent and leave you without a mother. The police drove me to my dad's house and let him know what happened, my dad seemed to avoid me the whole time, every time we were in the same room he would leave quickly, I thought it was just his way of dealing. When my birthday came 3 months later he invited everyone from school to the house, it was really big, everyone came, everyone wished my happy birthday, everyone except my dad, he stayed in his study the whole time until everyone left. He handed me my gift and then left without a word. A few days later my dad shipped me off to my Aunt and Uncle's house in Mystic Falls, I thought I was just staying there for a week or so but a month passed and he didn't come back. My dad left me and he was never planning on coming back for me and that's how I ended up living with my cousins." I tell him.

"I'm so sorry, I had no idea." Elijah says.

"It's fine. I started to get use to people disappearing on me and leaving." I say.

"You shouldn't get use to that." Elijah tells me.

"I should've but I did. When my uncle and Aunt died, it felt like my mum dying all over again. I didn't get to say goodbye to my mum and I didn't get the chance to say goodbye to my uncle and Aunt. I think everyone was surprised on how hard I was taking their death, they had no idea I was really thinking of my mum." I say, I feel Elijah place a hand on mine softly rubbing it.

"I'm sorry, you should've have had to go through that and relive those memories again. It must've been hard for you." He says.

"It was, but I got through it. I had to be strong for my cousins, there parents just died I had to be the one to have my emotions in check. I couldn't let anyone see me cry not until after the funeral was over, when everyone left, but people still saw and told a person before everyone found out I was crying over their graves pouring my heart out." I say.

"It's ok to cry,Lydia." He tells me.

"I know, I just don't like strangers knowing my business." I tell him, we're then left in a comfortable silence before we see Elena walk in the living room.

"Welcome back." Elijah says seeing Elena.

"Hey, Elena." I say smiling.

"Hey, I got you a jacket and some sandals." She says handing them to me.

"Thanks." I say pulling the leather jacket on and my white and gold sandals on.

"They don't match." I say looking at her.

"I can take them back if you want." She says going to grab them.

"No, they're fine. I just look like a weirdo" I tell her leaning back in the couch.

"Tell me. What is Klaus's curse?" Elena asks taking off her jacket and looking towards Elijah.

"Please." Elijah says motioning for Elena to sit which she does opposite us on the other couch.

"My family was quite close, but Klaus and my father did not get on too well. When we became vampires, we discovered the truth. Klaus was not my father's son. My mother had been unfaithful many years before. This was her darkest secret. Klaus is from a different bloodline. Of course, when my father discovered this, he hunted down and he killed my mother's lover and his entire family. Not realizing, of course, that he was igniting a war between species that rages until this day." Elijah explains to us.

"A war between the species?" Elena asks confused.

"I think he means werewolves and vampires... right?" I ask looking at him.

"Right." He says.

"So Klaus' real father was from a werewolf bloodline? What does that make Klaus? A werewolf? Or a vampire?" Elena asks him.

"He's both. A hybrid would be deadlier than any werewolf or vampire. Nature would not stand for such an imbalance of power. Therefore the witches, the servants of nature, saw to it that my brother's werewolf side would become dormant." Elijah tells us.

"That's the curse klaus has been trying to break." I say.

"He wants to trigger that part of him that's a werewolf. If allowed, Klaus would sire his own bloodline. He'd build his own race. Endangering not just vampires, but everyone." Elijah tells us.

"But you helped him?" Elena says.

"I helped him because I loved him. That's changed, now he must die." Elijah tells us.

"We have the dagger now, we can stop him." Elena says.

"That won't work on him, Elena. He's half werewolf, when a werewolf if wounded by silver they heal. The dagger won't work on him."I tell her.

"What are you saying that Klaus can't get killed?" Elena asks afraid of the truth.

"There's one way to kill any supernatural species...at the hands of the servants of nature themselves." Elijah tells us.

"A witch." I say.

"If they can channel that much power. But it would kill them." Elena says.

"The curse must be broken during the full moon. When Klaus is in transition. That's when he'll be at his most vulnerable. A witch with enough power...can kill Klaus." Elijah explains to us.

"What if I told you that I knew a witch that could channel that much power?" Elena says.

"Then I would tell you there's one more thing that you should know." Elijah tells us before going into another story.
