*Ring Ring Ring......... *

"Hello?  Kai?  Where are you? I thought you would be back by 10 .it's almost 11:30 pm! 
Hello?  Can you hear me? 
Kai? "

"Yeah!  Yeah! I'm listening I'll --"
*coughs *

"Kai you ok ? "

" Yeah I'm fine. I'm on my way. Just 10 minutes sweetheart. "

"Ok."

*you both hang up *

Kai sounded weird. This wasn't like him. Usually he would throw sarcastic remarks on you whenever you called him. He would be in his joyful mood. But today he seemed off. In fact the whole day he didn't call you nor texted you and that was strange, way too strange. Even if he's super busy with something stupid or irritating Damon and Stefan he would at least text you, assuring that he's not dead. But today was awfully different. You didn't feel good , like something was wrong and Kai wasn't telling you.

**12:15 am**

You really got worried about him. You called him at 11:30 pm but now it was 12:15.am . You were sitting impatiently, gazing at your phone hoping some call it text form him, but nothing. Your mind was playing nasty games with you, making you aware of the fact that Kai wasn't the most loved person in Mystic Falls ,specially when everyone came to know about his past. Damon was furious. You  mentally started to prepare a list of all the bad things that can possibly happen to him--
* Damon snapping his neck,
* Bonnie being an ass to him,
* Joshua sending him back to the prison world....
"Fuck no.... No no", you mentally cursed.
You quickly got up, taking your keys and phone and ran towards your front door .

*click*

"Ouch! "you winced in pain while rubbing your nose.

" where were you going? " Kai asked.

"Kai?  I was worried and --"

"Don't worry, I'm back in one piece, see. " He smiled.
"I was just ---...."
He coughed.

" Kai what's wrong?  " you gently pulled him inside your house and closed the door behind.

" It's nothing. I'm just not feeling good. "
He coughed again.

You were worried about him. This was the first time that Kai got sick but you were unsure whether it was actually a normal sickness or some magic sickness. You gently pressed your palm against his cheeks to check his temperature. His eyes were all red and tired. He smiled at you, knowing that you were worried. He placed his palm against yours.

" I'm fine, seriously. " He reassured you.

" Hmm ,let's take you to bed" you said, while taking off his jacket and helping him to get off of his shoes. He was swaying from left to right and it was difficult for you to handle him.

" I got you. " you said. His one hand was across your neck while you helped him to carry him upstairs.

You tucked him in the bed and was about to leave when Kai took hold of your hand.

" Sleep with me " he pouted.

You chuckled.

" I'll be back, gimme a second ".

With that you left the room.
You locked the doors ,switched off the lights, took your phone from the couch and went to the kitchen to fill a bottle with water ,just in case Kai needs it.
You were too engrossed in your deep thoughts that you didn't realize you dialed Jo's number. For a moment your eyes landed on the wall clock and realized it was 1:00 am. You were about to hang up when suddenly you heard a sleepy voice.

" Helloooo -?"

" Jo?".

"(y/n)? What's wronggg --'' she yawned.

" Um, sorry I called you so late but it's Kai! "

" What?  Oh no...  Whom did he killed now? " she sounded alarmed.

" No no Jo it's not like that he killed someone. " you panicked.

" Then what is it? "

"Umm.. I think Kai's sick... "

**there was dead silence **

" Yes, I know Kai is a sick man. Good night. " she sounded annoyed.

" WHAT? wait... No... I mean he's not well. "

**there was again silence **

" (Y/N) please go off to sleep. He's a warlock, he can't be sick. "

"BUT HE IS! " you shouted on the phone.

" OK OK I'll come to see him tomorrow, happy? "

"Very!"  With that you hung up ,feeling annoyed at Jo.

You huffed in exasperation . Taking the bottle you switched off the lights and went to your bedroom.

**That night at 2:00am**

You were sleeping peacefully while Kai was wrapped around you like an Ivy. He was turning and tossing every five minutes which was enough for you to realize that Kai was feeling uneasy and uncomfortable. You even discovered that Kai was extremely hot and was crushing you beneath himself. You quickly got up and switched on the side lamp.

"Babe?" you whisper with concern.

"Hmm.... " he coughs.

" You OK? " you placed your palm on his forehead.

"GOD KAI YOU ARE BURNING!"you panicked. You grabbed your phone and called Jo.

" Hey sweetheart am OK. "said Kai who was still lying, his arms placed firmly on your thighs.
You ignored him and waited patiently for Jo to pick up her phone .

"(Y/N) what on earth do yo--"

"Jo, it's urgent, Kai is burning and is coughing and --"

Kai quickly got up and ran towards the bathroom.

"KAI!! "

You jump out of your bed and ran after him.

"Call ya later.... " you hang up and tossed the phone hurriedly.

"Kai! ? Oh God!"

Kai was leaning against the basin with blood splattered from his mouth. He had tears in his eyes and beads of sweat collected on his forehead. You quickly came near him and rubbed his back.

"Hey!  You gonna be OK..! " you soothed him.

He was trembling with fear ,
pain and agony evident as he saw you with those deep blue eyes. He again threw up blood while you patted his back.

" I- It hurts "he cried.

"Shh... You gonna be OK, I'm here. " you assured him. After a while you washed his face and cleaned all the blood stains on his neck and hands . You grabbed the hand towel and dabbed his face lightly.

"Come".

You lead him towards the bed and lay him down gently. You caressed his cheeks gently and smiled.

" I don't know what's happening...! " He said.

He took hold of your hand and placed a soft kiss on them.

"Kai, you will be fine. Just give me a second ". You quickly got up and grabbed your phone, hitting on Jo 's number. You were so tensed and worried that your hands were trembling. But you decided to be strong for Kai. You couldn't let Kai know how much you were worried and freaking about him right now. You had to stay calm.

"Jo? "

"Open the door babe. "
