Great! This is happening right this fucking moment. Just when I'm about to make my fucking leave that's when the stupid danger alarm decided to blare. Fucking perfect!

"The sound is the alarm for the school magic defense system." Roman informs me as we gather into the common room in the biggest dorm building with the other students.

The headmaster and other teachers are here too, they all look alarmed. And here I thought this place is safe giving the all defense system surrounding the compound.

"Like someone's trying to breach in?" I ask as I watch the headmaster swipe the large screen, watching what's going on outside, the screen covers the whole school in every angle. I didn't know the school has surveillance cameras, and it's connected to the school's common room large screen.

After observing for a while, the headmaster looks away from the screen and turns to us. "Everyone go back to your rooms, it's nothing, just an animal trying to get in, don't worry," he addresses but I know he is lying. He keeps fidgeting and I can tell that he is nervous.

"All representatives should stay behind," he says as the students scatter and return to their respective rooms.

I am not a representative but am staying.

"Cami," he says my name like a warning. "You should leave too," He orders in a firm tone.

I cross my arms above my chest and shake my head. Not this time, Buddy. "I am not going anywhere. Whatever it is you have to say, you say it to all of us." I won't let anyone treat me like a minor they have to keep stuff from. I know I'm not exactly fit to listen in on their conversation, each and every one of them represents a coven, and I'm practically coven-less, which is why I need to know what's going on.

He frowns, and I can hear murmurs from the people present. The teachers already left with the other students, leaving the headmaster alone to handle the situation.

"This is not up for discussion." This is him letting me know who's in charge. I'm not debating it, I just need to know what's going on.

I scoff. "Do I look like I care?" I'm still very mad at him for the way he treated me earlier. The way I'm acting isn't okay and I'm prepared for any punishment, but I will not be bullied out of this. It's time I introduce everyone the bratty Cami Stark.

He sighs and shakes his head in disbelief. "Roman, Nate, Cami, you guys are coming with me," he concludes. "Brianna, Ariana, go get the whole Gemini witches. I need you guys to cast a protection spell that will cover the whole place and the remaining of you ensure everyone stays in their room," He fires out the orders.

I look around the room to see everyone moving and doing as he says. Just like that. How can they blindly follow orders without questioning him?

The headmaster walks away from the screen and towards the exit, Roman follows behind him.

"Come on." Nate pulls my hand walk behind them.

The headmaster stops in front of the door leading outside and turns to us. "There are people outside the gate trying to get in. We are going there to see what they want and I'm doing all the talking." He explains, and glares at me, silently warning me to keep my bitch in check.

Roman and Nate nod. He opens the door and we step outside the dorm. I can see like five, maybe more, figures standing outside the gate.

Who are those people? What do they want?

Our boots thud softly against the well trimmed grass as we step closer to the gate. I feel my phone vibrate in my back pocket. I remove it to see a message from Jessica. Of course, she would text right in the middle of a crisis. I don't know much about the situation but I know it's shit. For one, the headmaster seems pretty scared and he doesn't look like a guy that scare easily, so yeah the people outside are the fucking enemy.

I swipe my phone to unlock and read the message.

Jessie: Hey girlie, guess what? I'm here.

Me: what do you mean you're here?

I unblocked her number like I promised but I never once thought she'd actually come here. She better be joking.

Jessie: I'm outside the school.

What the hell? She didn't even tell me she was coming.

Me: Jessie turn the fuck around and leave NOW!! THIS IS NOT A FUCKING DRILL.

Me: I wrote those in all caps because I fucking mean it.

Jessie: Relax, will you? I was kidding. I guess you don't want to see me after all. Did you lie to me, Cami? I thought you said you wanted to give our friendship a fresh start.

Why fuck did I even say that in the first place? Yeah I want to start afresh with her but not like this. She can't fucking ambush me at the middle of an actual ambush. Fuck! What am I even saying?

I take a deep breath before composing her message.

Me: No! It's not that. We've got a bit of a situation here at The Vale, I can't really talk right now. I'll call you when everything is over, I promise.

I press the lock button and return my phone to my back pocket. We stop in front of the gate. The people standing on the other side of the gates look like they'll break in soon. They've tried breaking in and that's why the alarm sounded in first place.

The Headmaster step forward to address the men. "Good Evening, gentlemen. My name is Dean Wallace. I am the Headmaster of The Vale." Dean clears his throat after the introduction. "State your reason here and everything can be settled without violence."

Oh violence? Can this day be any better? For him to take Roman and Nate with him, he knew something bad was up.

"Who said anything about violence, Dean? All we want is the Sage," the one in the middle says. He looks like he's their leader because he is the only one standing in the front line, and there is something about him that seems intimidating, maybe it's his thick voice or the scar that runs from his jaw to his temple or the fact that he is blind in one eye. How did I guess that?

"We don't know any Sage." Dean replies curtly.

The man frowns. "This is a school full witches and is a beacon for all supernaturals. Don't insult my intelligence, Dean," he says in a deep and scary tone, which makes me shiver in fear. He removes his hood and bends his head a little to show us his eye, the one I thought was blind turns out it's working, really working. The eye begins to glow. The darkness in the eye is something I've never seen before. What the hell? "Now, let's try again, shall we?"

I swallow hard as I take a step back. I can't believe I'm saying this but I should have listened and just stayed in my room. His eyes just glowed. It's just fucking glowed. What the fuck?

I feel Dean tense up, almost like he recognizes him. "Arihma Theo?"

What sort of name is that?

He smiles. "That's right, Dean. You know what will happen if you don't give me what I want." He threatens.

Okay. All right, this shit is getting real fast.

What was I thinking coming with them?

I turn my head to see the headmaster's reaction, he swallows and shakes his head. "We don't know any Sage, look," he pauses a moment and I can tell he is trying to find the right thing to say. "We don't want any trouble, there is no Sage here."

The scary man clicks his tongue. "Wrong answer. She's here, I can smell her, she is around here somewhere." He tilts his head my way.

Shit! Does he think I'm the sage? Wait... Am I even a sage? Why is he looking at me?

I look around to be sure that it's me he's really looking at. "I assure you that I am no Sage." I voice out before I can stop the words from coming.

He smirks and moves closer to the gate. "You are right, you are no Sage, you are more. You are afraid but not of me, tell me girl, what are you afraid of?"

Big mistake.

I tilt my head to the side and scoff. "You can go fuck yourself, do I look like a girl to you?" I don't know where all these new attitudes and courage are coming from but I pray they don't get me killed one day.

He stares at me for some minutes before throwing his head back and laughing really hard. I look beside me to see Roman and the headmaster wearing the same expression, and it's not eye-catching. Nate, on the other hand looks like he's having fun.

"I'm not here for you, Little princess." He reminds me and faces the headmaster. "Don't make me mad, Dean. You don't want me to burn down your little sch-" The sound of an engine rev interrupts what he's going to say.

He steps away from the gate and turns to the car. Jessica steps out of the car and stops with her mouth open when she notices the situation in front of her.

Shit.

"Hello everyone." She laughs nervously. "It's safe to say that I did not know anything was going on." she says in a shaking tone.

I notice Nate tense beside me. That makes two of us. I specifically told this girl not to come, what the hell was she thinking? She was already on here way, and she lied.

"Jessica! Get inside your car and leave at once." I order, I will do a lot more than raise my voice when I see her after these bad guys are gone.

The scary looks at me and then at Jessica. "Jessica?" He calls her name and takes steps closer to her.

"What the hell is happening?" I walk towards the gate but Roman pulls my hand back. "Leave me alone!" I yank my hand away from him and walk to the gate.

"You are Jessica Cruz?" He asks her. How the fuck did he know her last name?

Jessica nods nervously and her eyes lock with mine. "I go by Cruz-William but yeah, you could say I'm Jessica Cruz." She answers.

Theo’s lips curl up in a smirk. And I know it's a bad idea but I don’t care. I rush to the gate and try to open it but it won't budge. "Let me the fuck out!" I scream at the headmaster, who is just standing, watching as everything plays out instead of doing something.

"Jessica! Run, go!" I scream but it's like he has her compelled or something because she isn't moving.

He stands in front of her and tucks the loose strands of her hair behind her ear. "I knew you were around here somewhere. And I'm never wrong," He says and places his hand on her shoulder.

I bang my hand on the gate and notice Nate beside me trying to get this gate to open. "Jessie, Jessica!" I scream for her but it was too late.

The scary man and the others disappear with Jessica.

I loosen my grip on the gate and turn to the headmaster with tears threatening to roll down my cheek. "This. Is. All. Your fault," I grit out as I launch myself on him. Well almost. Roman, his guard dog is there pulls me back. "Calm down, Cami. We will get her back."

I push him away and glare at him. "Stay the hell away from me, you saw the whole thing, and what did you do? You just fucking stood there like a fucking statue!" My anger is getting the best of me.

I stand toe to toe with the headmaster and flare my nose in anger as I raise my head to meet his gaze. "If anything happens to her, I mean any-fucking-thing, I will make you pay." I threaten and move away from him.

Deep down I know it was my fault and not the headmaster's but giving everything I have gone through today makes me not care. I didn't expect him to just stand there without doing anything because Jessica isn't a student of The Stupid Vale.

"The gate won't open because of the barrier spell I had the Gemini witches cast. Until they lift it, no one can get through." The Headmaster says.

I don't fucking care. I go have to get out of this place, thank God my bag is all packed and ready to go.
