2) Are promises made to be broken?
Delhi, India
We all sometimes enjoy the peaceful silence and sometimes this silence is on the verge of killing us, the every second of it feels like something has been piercing us from inside. And this is what she was feeling right now.
There she was, standing near the door in silence, fighting that silence. She was screaming but her screams were unheard. She was the same girl who used to live for FUN,but the world made her lifeless. Now, she was just a girl who was surviving for her dear people.
By looking at the expression of the doctor, she understood what he is going to say. But still that positive ray inside her, made her force to ask the doctor.
The doctor heaved a sad sigh while looking at the person who has been laying like this since many months.
Naina Raichand, who has been paralysed and is same like this since many months with not showing even a single progess.
" Sanjana, I have known your family since 13 years. And as a doctor, we are all very well experienced in not showing our emotions but everytime when you ask me about her progress, I always feel guilty for breaking that ray of hope of yours.
Hearing this from doctor, another broken piece inside her got more broken.
A lone tear escape from her eyes.
" Mumma"
The word she has been calling since many months but not a single reply came from the other side.
She immediately wiped her eyes and held her mother's hand tightly in her hands, as if she loosened it for a second, her mother will go far away from her.
" Mumma, why? When i need you so much, why are you being like this, then? I...you promised me that you will never me leave me alone, then why this now! Are promises always made to only be broken at the end! Please don't this to me, don't punish me this much, I...I can't handle anymore...." while saying this, tears were falling from her eyes and her voice stumbling to speak out something.
" Sanjana, come here" came a old man's voice from behind, who was in his 50's, Aakash Dixit.
He made her sit on the sofa and then went to bring a glass of water and gave it to her.
" Crying and accepting defeat from the challenges which life throw to us is never a solution of anything. You are Mr Viraj Raichand's daughter, the one who never accepted defeat in his life. How would he feel when he will see his daughter crying, and you my child, have already seen so much and this phase too will pass out like those ones. Those thousands of people associated to Raichand's industries, trust your capability, so don't let that break and bring that courage of yours back" he completed saying.
She nodded slightly and mumbled a small thank you and started going upstairs. She came and stood in front of the library door. With a sad smile, she opened the door and moved in.
All journals, books still kept at their place as it is. Nothing changed at all except the person's here.
The table and chair kept in the centre, where her dad always worked so seriously. She then saw the big photo frame of her mom and dad. She placed a hand on his father's picture and recalled the promise she made,
"Daddu....daddu.... daddu, " A mellifluous voice came with loud foot steps.
Viraj Raichand, who was checking out his new project file, after listening that voice became tensed and immediately stood up and went near the gate all tensed and saw Sanjana, already standing there and grinning and her face brightening up seeing her dad , her hairs tied in a pig tail and standing there in red frock.
" Dadduuu" she again called and signalled her dad to pick her up.
But after seeing the frowned look of her dad, she pouted sadly.
" Daddu" she again called now in a sad voice.
" No..daddu won't talk to you now" saying this he turned around and went to sit at his chair again.
She too started going behind her dad, she reaching only half of his steps.
" Daddu" she called in a voice now which was on the verge of crying, while poking her dad's arm.
Viraj was watching her from side, but seeing the moist eyes of his daughter, he quickly picked her up in his arms and made her sit on the table.
" Sanjana" he called her in a soft voice. She looked up at him and said" Daddu, I am sorry"
After watching her saying sorry, he immediately hugged her and asked" Why sorry, by the way?"
She while making an innocent face started shaking her feet.
" Because, I was running on the stairs...and daddu has told Sanjana not to run on the stairs"
" You know na, you have once fell on the stairs and you got injured. Then why you did again? Daddu was tensed for you".
" Sorry Daddu" she said and holded her ears.
" Will you do it again?"
She immediately shook her head in negative response and said " daduu, chochlate promise, I won't run ever on the stairs"
And saying this, she hugged her dad immediately.
A smile immediately formed on his face, seeing the lifeline of his life.
" Ok, Daddu has a gift for you, close your eyes first"
" Yayy" she started grinning and closed her eyes by covering with both hands but peeking a little towards her dad from behind.
" I think a little mouse is peeking from behind" he said playfully to her.
" Yes, Daddu, a mouse is there behind the curtain and is so big. I saw him too and is hungry too" she started explaining while making an innocent face.
"Hmm, then today I'll ask Ram uncle to catch this mouse in trap"
" Yes..daddu, I'll to make that mouse leave my house" she started saying thinking his father believed her.
" Ok, so now close your eyes and count till 3"
123, she said fastly. Viraj started laughing while watching her excitement.
She then opened her eyes and saw two big chocolates in her dad's hands. She immediately placed her hand in front of him.
" No..no, first kissie then chocolate!"
" Offo, daddu.." she said and then immediately gave a soft kiss on her dad's cheeks. And then started eating chocolate while sitting on her father's lap and he started working on the file.
While, eating the chocolate she saw the serious expressions on her father's face and asked him " daddu, why are you working so much?"
" Because I need to work hard so that later when you will handle the company, then my Sanjana will not face any problem" he said and smiled at her.
" Daddu, don't worry...i will make you proud always" she said and smiled at her dad.
" Dad, you have always believed me and i won't let my promise ever break. I won't let you feel down ever on me" she said and smiled looking at her father's pic.
