"CAN WE HAVE A CUP OF COFFEE?"

As soon as Dev heard Sonakshi he was left speechless, for a moment he thought he was dreaming. He was expecting her to misunderstand him and expected her to shout at him or scold him for following her to the hospital but here she was, standing before him, inviting him for a coffee.

"Sorry What?" asked Dev to make sure that he heard her right as Sonakshi replied "I asked you Can we have a cup of coffee together?" as Dev got a confirmation that he was not hallucinating and Sonakshi had indeed asked him for a coffee. He just nodded his head wordlessly in acceptance as Sonakshi smiled brightly, happy that he had accepted her invitation.

Fifteen minutes later Dev and Sonakshi sat opposite to each other at a coffee house near to the hospital, since there was no one with Bijoy except Sonakshi, Dev had asked Bunty to keep an eye on his well-being till they returned as Sonakshi's heart warmed once again seeing his thoughtfulness, she once again felt guilty for misunderstanding him and decided to clear it and apologize to him.

Ten minutes had passed since both had arrived at the Coffee house, their respective coffee was served to them as well yet for the past ten minutes both sat quietly waiting for the other to start the conversation. While on one side Dev was still confused as to why Sonakshi wanted to speak to him alone, on the other side Sonakshi was unable to understand how to start the conversation given whatever had happened between them in last few days. It was Sonakshi who decided to break the silence.

"Actually Dev..." said Sonakshi and paused while Dev waited for her to continue which she did after a few seconds "Dev I wanted to apologize for all that has happened in the past few days" she said in a go and huffed a sigh of relief, but Dev looked all confused at her.

"Apologize? For what?" he asked in a confused tone.

"Your friends have told me the truth Dev. Why you had to lie to your parents, why you are working as a barista here, I am aware of everything Dev" she said as it finally dawned on to Dev what Sonakshi was talking about and why she wanted to speak to him.

"And I am really sorry for misunderstanding you Dev and for all that has gone wrong in your life. I am really Sorry Dev" she said genuinely and in a pleading tone as Dev smiled

"No need Sonakshi, maybe its my fate. But frankly if I was in your place maybe I would have reacted in the same way. As Natasha's friend I can understand your concern for her and that's what probably anyone in your place would have done, so need to apologize Sonakshi" said Dev as Sonakshi was left tongue-tied once again, after what he had to face he still had so easily forgiven her as if it was nothing serious.

"In fact, I am really sorry for troubling you for the past few days Sonakshi. Even though I knew that whatever you did you had done it unknowingly, still I guess my anger and frustration I had troubled you. I am genuinely sorry Sonakshi" he said as Sonakshi smiled

"No need Dev, I can understand why you would have reacted that way. So no need to apologise" she paused and continued after a few seconds "And anyways I need to thank you as well" she said as Dev was perplexed once again.

"For what?" asked Dev as Sonakshi replied "For helping my father in the hospital" as Dev smiled once again.

"Well, I actually needed to apologize to you for one more thing Sonakshi" said Dev as Sonakshi looked surprised thinking what he was alluding to as Dev continued "Actually it was me who had said the guy who had come to see you the other day that we both were in love with each other and asked him to reject you so that we can be together" he said and looked down sheepishly waiting for Sonakshi to get angry on him but the next moment Sonakshi burst out laughing.

"Hahaha...So it was you. Oh my god, I really need to thank you then" she said still laughing as Dev looked befuddled while Sonakshi continued after calming down "See Dev, the guy who could believe something said about me from a random person that too whom he had met for the first time and did not trust me, what's the surety that he would trust me in the future?" she said as Dev understood what she was trying to say.

"So, thank you for saving me from such a guy" she said folding her hands and laughing at the same time while Dev joined her laughter, their first carefree laugh together.

"Now that we have apologized and thanked each other so many times....So....FRIENDS?" asked Sonakshi putting her hand forward as Dev smiled and shook her hands "FRIENDS" he said as both smiled at each other.

As both sat relaxed, sipping their cup of coffee Dev spoke "Sonakshi, now that you are my friend. I needed your help" said Dev as Sonakshi gestured him to go ahead.

"Can you please clear the misunderstanding that Natasha and her family have about me" he asked as Sonakshi slapped her head, in all this she had completely forgotten about that.

"Of course, I surely will Dev" she said as Dev sighed in relief while Sonakshi continued "By the way do you still want to get married to Natasha?" said Sonakshi raising her brows as Dev blushed a bit and replied "Ah..It's nothing like that but maybe once the misunderstanding is cleared maybe even my father will understand me as well" said Dev as Sonakshi nodded, she felt bad that unknowingly because of her Dev had lost his relations and made a promise to herself that she will reinstate all his relations.

"We need to get going" said Dev as Sonakshi agreed, after paying the bill they returned to the hospital.

Bijoy was discharged the next day morning while Ranveer was discharged a couple of days later. Dev and Sonakshi had exchanged their phone numbers. They regularly messaged each other while getting back to their routine lives, Dev with the hope of clearing the misunderstanding with his father while Sonakshi hoped for clearing all the mess that had happened in Dev's life unknowingly because of her.

A week later after Bijoy had fully recovered Sonakshi decided to call up Natasha and clear all the misconceptions about Dev, she dialled Natasha's number and waited for her to pick up the call.

"Sona, How are you? You are calling after so many days?" blabbered Natasha as soon as she picked up the call.

"Ya Natasha, Actually Dad was not keeping well so was caught up with it" she said as Natasha enquired what the matter was while Sonakshi informed her about Bijoy's health. After some more talks Sonakshi decided to speak about Dev.

"Natasha, Actually I wanted to speak about something" said Sonakshi as Natasha replied "Of course Sona, why are you asking for permission"

"Its about Dev, Natasha" said Sonakshi slowly waiting for Natasha's reaction who was surprised to hear Sonakshi speak about him that too after so many days.

"Dev?" asked Natasha in a confused tone as Sonakshi replied in affirmative.

"What do you want to speak about that liar Sonakshi?" asked Natasha, she did not want to speak about the person for whom she had harboured some feelings but he had cheated her, while Sonakshi sighed disappointedly

"Natasha, Dev is not like we think. He is...." spoke Sonakshi but before she could continue Natasha interrupted "Listen Sona, if you want to speak about him then please do not call me" she spoke irately as Sonakshi was caught by surprise listening to her tone. Unknown to her Natasha's father had heard her speaking to someone on the phone about Dev.

"Who is it Natasha" he asked as she replied "It's Sonakshi Papa, she is saying that Dev is not like we all think him to be" she said as her father got furious, he took the phone from Natasha and spoke.

"Listen Sonakshi, it was you who had told us about Dev cheating us and now you are telling he is not like that. See this matter is already over, so do not call to speak about it again. You are Natasha's friend, so pray for her good" said Natasha's father and cut the call.

Sonakshi was gobsmacked as soon as she heard Natasha and her father, it seemed they hated Dev to the core, she now did not know what to tell Dev for she was sure that he would ask her about it, she lied down on her bed thinking of ways to make Natasha understand as she drifted into the land of nod.

A couple of days later Dev was at Sonakshi's house, Bijoy had gone out with his friends and would return only a couple of hours later.

"Sonakshi, Did you speak to Natasha?" asked Dev as Sonakshi's breathe hitched, she did not know what to answer.

"Dev...I...I actually spoke to Natasha" she fumbled as Dev replied "What did she tell Sonakshi?"

"Dev..Actually she said that she needed some time to make her family understand about the situation" she lied as Dev sighed in relief, at least Natasha believed her.

"Do you think I should speak to her, will that help?" asked Dev as Sonakshi's eyes widened. She did not want Dev to speak to them and get insulted again.

"No Dev, Give her sometime" she said as Dev nodded in agreement while Sonakshi quickly changed the topic "By the way what makes you come to my house today?"

"Oh, See I forgot. Actually, Ritwik had invited both of us to his office party this saturday" he said as Sonakshi looked at him surprised.

"But why us?" she asked as Dev replied "Actually he has invitations for his family members but since he does not have his family here he has invited us" he said as Sonakshi nodded.

"And anyways there were will be many hotshot bachelors there. Who knows you may get your life partner as well?" he teased as Sonakshi slapped his shoulders

"Well, in that case there will be many girls as well, who knows you may get your life partner as well" replied Sonakshi as Dev replied "No ways Sonakshi, I will marry the girl whom my mother will choose so no chance for me" as Sonakshi sighed.

"See, I spoiled your potential relationship so its my responsibility to make you meet your soulmate. So let's start from this party, What say?" Dev as said as Sonakshi laughed and slapped his shoulder once again. Both had decided to attend the party on Saturday.

It was Saturday, Dev was waiting outside Sonakshi's home to pick her up. He had borrowed one of Ritwik's car for the party. He had donned a casual Tee to go with a Blazer and jeans. Just then he saw Sonakshi coming towards him as he stopped breathing for a moment as she looked stunning. Donning  a baby pink chiffon saree paired with a low cut back black blouse and light make up she looked beautiful, her wavy hairs along with the long dangle ear rings enhanced her beauty.

On the other hand, as Sonakshi approached Dev her breathe hitched. It was the first time she was looking closely at him and he looked deadly handsome in casual clothes. As she neared him, she saw him lost somewhere.

"Where are you lost?" she said and snapped her fingers before him as Dev came out of his trance.

"Beautiful, You look beautiful Sonakshi" he said as Sonakshi blushed and looked down with a smile, she did not know why but an unknown joy warmed her heart. It was not the first time someone had praised her beauty but why did it feel different when Dev praised her.

"You don't look too bad yourself" she said as Dev smiled and opened the door of the car for her to get in after which both proceeded to the party venue.

It was half an hour since Dev and Sonakshi had arrived at the party, after the initial introductions both had settled themselves at a table along with Ritwik and Naina when everyone's heads turned towards the entrance as someone entered.

"Who's he?" asked Dev looking at the person as Ritwik replied "Well, that's Kushal Raheja. Supposedly the most eligible, rich and handsome Indian Bachelor in New York" said Ritwik as Sonakshi looked at him and wondered what was so special about the guy. She compared him to Dev and concluded that Dev was hundred times better than him, but the next moment she slapped herself mentally. Why was she thinking like that.

Just then Dev caught her hand and made her stand up "Ritwik, Naina please excuse us" as he pulled Sonakshi along with him while Sonakshi looked surprised, after a few seconds they reached Kushal.

"Hi, I am Dev and She's my friend Sonakshi" Dev said as Kushal nodded lightly eyeing Sonakshi lustfully looking at her bare waist, while she felt uncomfortable. She hoped they leave from their as soon as possible but what Dev said next let her flabbergasted.

"Actually My friend wanted to speak to you. So I will leave you guys alone" said Dev and turning towards Sonakshi he whispered "Sonakshi, this is a nice opportunity. He is the most handsome & eligible bachelor of the town, make him yours" he said and left from as Sonakshi was left all alone with Kushal. He was about to speak to her when she excused herself and left.

It was ten minutes since Sonakshi was standing in the gallery looking at the night sky, tears glistened her eyes as she thought about how Dev left her with Kushal, she did not why but she felt bad that Dev left her with the filthy guy, just the way he looked at her made her cringe and that was reason she had left without speaking to him. Just then she felt a hand on her shoulder, she thought it was Dev and was about to turn when she felt a hand on her bare waist making her cringe in disgust. She turned and was left shocked looking at the person. For it was KUSHAL.

He seemed drunk and out of control as Sonakshi tried to free herself but he held her and moved towards her and was about to dig his head onto her shoulders as tears flowed from Sonakshi's eyes as she struggled to get free. Kushal was about to kiss her when someone pulled him harshly and the next moment the sound of a SLAP reverberated around the hall.
