Final Front.
Getting up the stairs, she knew something was wrong. But she couldn't figure it out. She gulped as they charged Edward.
~~~
That's what was wrong.
After defeating Edward, something slammed into the elder, forcing him down and taking the armor from him. Parchment froze.
"Red Eyes..." There he was. Seeing how pale he was showed that something else was wrong. She couldn't see what though. Midnight must've since he growled at something.
"That little-" She glanced at him, unsure if she should ask.
Red Eyes, with only a moment of a pause, attacked them. Edward and Parchment were sucked into voids, which didn't help. She cursed under her breath when darkness hit.
Midnight gulped.
"Leanne! Disable the armor! Jack! Back up and be at the ready!" Midnight got his styler loaded.
Would he be able to take on Mewtwo? No, but he had to try for Parchment. He charged, attempting to capture the legendary. He was thrown into a wall, pain skyrocketing. Shit, he wasn't awake enough. Jack got to his side as Leanne focused on trying to get the armor. She sadly got forced into a void as well, which wasn't good.
"Uh oh-" Jack pulled him out of the way of another void.
"Now what?" Midnight was silent. He didn't have a plan. That was his plan. Have Leanne get the armor, have Jack get ready to deal with Red Eyes, he would deal with Mewtwo.
A roar followed before something circled the legendary, capturing and calming it before something pinned Red Eyes to the ground. Midnight gasped.
"Crepe-" The Officer was silent as a Hydreigon disabled the armor, forcing it to race away. The two female rangers were placed on the ground. Crepe then spoke.
"Jack, I need you over here. Midnight, get the other two back to base. Now." Like hell they were going to go against that order. Midnight quickly got to the unconscious females while Jack ran over to Crepe's side.
~~~
"Ow-"
"Careful."
Parchment woke up slowly, but she didn't feel numb. She sat up as Midnight joined her.
"How're you feeling?" She blinked twice.
"Not as bad as I thought- what happened?" He gulped.
"We were able to finish the mission. You and Leanne got trapped by Mewtwo's void. Crepe saved us and we got everyone back after you two were released." Her mind raced through the words. Three questions appeared.
"What about Red Eyes and Edward?"
"Red Eyes was sent to the nearest hospital. Apparently Blue Eyes did something and he lost a lot of blood. Edward never came out of the void." What did that bitch do- She decided against saying it out loud.
"How am I not in pain? I should-" Midnight smiled.
"Jack didn't want you to be numb. So he had me at least move your arms and legs every few minutes. It seemed to work..." She smiled a little before pausing.
"What did you mean by Crepe saved us?" Midnight paused.
"He... and a Hydreigon flew up. He captured Mewtwo and disabled Red Eyes." She must've looked very confused by the way he added; "I don't know how or what he used, but he was there." She paused.
"I guess I'll ask him myself. I have a lot to do..."
~~~
She first went to the hospital, where Purvis was watching over Red Eyes. He nodded to her.
"Manipulation." She froze.
"What?"
"She stabbed a manipulation device into his neck. That's what she did."
"I could kill her."
"She's definitely going to jail. But still." She gulped as she glanced in. His neck was wrapped up and a breathing mask was resting on his face. No wonder he looked so pale.
"He's going to make it, right?"
"Jack saved him. If the device had simply been ripped off, he'd be dead. But Jack handled the defusing of the device perfectly. Red Eyes will make a full recovery." She smiled.
"Good..." Red Eyes seemed to stir as she sighed. "Keep an eye on him."
~~~
She then tracked down Crepe, who was making food for the others.
"Hey."
"Hm." He passed three plates to Nick, who went over to his parents. She paused as he continued his work.
"I heard you were on the field." He seemed to pause briefly.
"So?" He went back to getting food done, swiftly giving Jack two plates so he could get one to Midnight, who was out like a light on the couch.
"So? Crepe, you saved a mission." He snorted rather loudly.
"That's nothing."
"Oh no you don't." He stopped what he was doing as she crossed her arms. "Crepe, you saved an operation, protected a region and you are just going to dismiss it? You claim to not be good at the front line and yet you just pulled the biggest save in the region. The hell you mean by 'that's nothing'? You should be more in the front lines instead of hiding in the back." He took a second before sighing.
"There's a reason I left. I wanted to find something that I could be better at."
"Are you going to try and tell me that you aren't good in the front lines?" He dropped his head, knowing he kinda walked into that. He then sighed.
"I didn't want people to connect my skills to my faction." She raised an eyebrow before pausing. Faction- She walked over to his side and spoke in a soft voice.
"Sekiro... right?" He nodded quietly, keeping his head down. "Crepe, don't hide your skills. The officers don't need them. The front lines do. You made an impression on many members. Why stop to hide?" He picked his head up and glanced at her. "Don't you dare say it's because your faction is violent or dangerous. You shouldn't be judged that way. And if that caused you to sideline yourself, then I will step forward and make a stand. Alright?" He took a second before a soft smile formed with some tears.
"Thank you..." She smiled before pulling him into a hug.
~~~
She made sure to include everything.
She started off with the full update on Leanne and Jack, making sure they knew everything. Then she made sure to bring up everything with Midnight. She also made a note that she would be more than willing to take Midnight as one of her official rangers after the events of the Operation. She then brought up Crepe and the reasoning behind his transfer. She made sure that she mentioned that he was simply guarding himself, not leaving the front lines willingly. She also brought up Red Eyes, explaining what happened and asking whether they knew anything to help him.
She then moved onto the operation itself. Explaining as many details as she could about the battles and missions that were completed. She had to utilize notes from the others since there were 3 instances where she was not aware of what was happening, but mostly everything was correct.
She closed it up by saying that the Wireless Tower was back up and that they can give any orders/details over call.
~~~
She was able to tend to the others (Mostly helping Crepe get used to the front lines again and helping anyone heal) before Pichu summoned them into his office a few days later.
"Welcome. Is this everyone?" Parchment nodded.
"We're all here, Chairperson." She smiled.
"Good. I suppose we'd better get to the point." She paused before continuing. "First of all, great job with Operation Oblivia. It seems no one's dead." Midnight went to raise his hand to argue, but Crepe was ready and pulling it down. "Good. Second of all, Parchment has kept me well up to date with everyone. So I now know how to approach some problems that have been brought up. I have orders for everyone's next course of action. Starting off, Jack, you will be returning to your original base. Your base leader will be waiting once you arrive." He smiled.
"Yes Ma'am!"
"Leanne and Crepe, I need both of you to return to the Union. I have much to discuss with the two of you. And Leanne, make sure Rand and Nick are there as well." She nodded.
"Yes Ma'am."
"Midnight, you are given a choice." He blinked twice, clearly confused. "You can either head back to Summerland or stay in Oblivia." Midnight spoke.
"Eh?" The others giggled at that.
"Parchment has recommended you to be a ranger under her. So you could either stay down there or go back to Summerland and continue to work under Elita." Parchment immediately spoke.
"Oh don't do that. That sounds horrible." Jack snorted before the others started chuckling. The Chairperson's sigh said it all.
"What you choose is yours to make. Either Elita or Parchment will send us reports wherever you end up." Midnight nodded.
"Yes Ma'am..." She smiled.
"Good work everyone. Parchment, there will be someone arriving to handle the person you mentioned in the letter. They will take it from there." She nodded.
"Got it!"
~~~
Parchment smiled as she looked over what the Chairperson sent her.
Jack hadn't changed, but his Base Leader had quoted his new confidence. Leanne was assigned to a new base, which was now able to utilize her problem and even was working to help Rand get her on a good track.
As for Crepe, he had transferred down to Oblivia. Apparently, he had gotten so many questions upon returning to his former post that it made him very uncomfortable. He quickly asked for a transfer, which got her to accept his transfer request. He was very grateful and actually had to take the day to recover in his new room.
Midnight had gotten comfortable with his new placement. With the way Parchment worked it out, he had time to sleep whenever needed (It was quite often with how little energy he had after quests).
As for Red Eyes...
"Don't rush it-"
"Hush-"
Parchment chuckled as Midnight attempted to redress the bandages on his neck. It wasn't exactly working as Midnight looked tired and Red Eyes was frozen, ready to hurt someone with one wrong move. Crepe watched from afar, keeping an eye on the former villain so that nothing bad happened. Midnight's hand slipped, which nearly made Red Eyes recoil if Crepe wasn't watching carefully.
"Alright, my turn."
Midnight had scrambled back, lightly bumping his head against the wall. It wasn't hard enough to hurt him, but he was already passing out as it was. Parchment smiled as Crepe took over. The person said they would be here today, having received a few missions which pushed back their visiting time.
But eventually, someone did come. Parchment was in the air when she spotted a Staraptor. Her eyes caught sight of a Ranger Uniform before she flew over.
"Are you the person coming for Red Eyes?" Blue eyes blinked back at her before the male nodded. "Then follow me." She of course shot off, forgetting that he was on a Staraptor. Nonetheless, he was able to follow her blur and rejoined her. "Oops... sorry about that." He smiled before holding up a card.
'It's fine. I didn't get lost.' She smiled before leading him into where Red Eyes was resting. He was curled up with Midnight, who wasn't feeling well from the other day's mission in the mountain. She smiled.
"The blonde is who you want." He nodded before going over, easily waking up Red Eyes while Midnight slept through it (She was also sure he could sleep through a wildfire, but that might be just her). Red Eyes seemed to scan his note cards before following him outside.
She later learned that they knew each other. Ice, the ranger that was sent, explained that they were in the same faction tribe, the Lilywillow's The Frozen Angel Children. Red Eyes, who's real name was Redlea, was one of few that survived. However, it seemed he was not fortunate to escape getting captured. The only reason she found out was when she found Ice bandaging his torso. The doctors were more concerned about his neck rather than anything else, so Ice took the liberty to start healing the rest of the damage from Blue Eyes.
"I could kill her."
"I sent her to jail- so-"
"Damn."
Redlea was able to make a full recovery and she even allowed him to join the Ranger force as a medic (They didn't have one on either side of the Oblivia Rangers, so when he agreed, they were excited).
~~~
It was afterwards.
"What's happened?"
