Prison Break
A kobold was sleeping in his jail cell when he then wakes up. He looks at the markings on the wall. "Damn... I don't have much time left..." He sits in the corner of his cell.
Suddenly a rat-folk man called over the kobold. "Hey, what's your name?" He asks with his arms folded. The kobold looks at the man. "Me? Oh, my name is Heep."
The man nodded. "My name is George. Want to escape?"
Heep widened his eyes as he went to his door. "Yes, how do we get out?" George smiled as he opened his door to pick on Heep's lock. "What are you doing?" Heep asked as he looked for guards.
George smiled. "When we get to the gallows, on my lead, we tackle the guards and steal their weapons. Once we do, we kill some Ghiks."
Heep was confused. "I'm sorry, what's a Ghik?"
George sighed as he explained who they were. "Ghiks are the high elves' conscripts. Weak, pathetic, and mostly cannon fodder for the high elves. That's all I know."
Heep nods. "Ok, anything else I should know?"
George shook his head. "Once again, that's all I know. They should be weak enough for us to take them on. So when we fight them, we stand our ground and fight."
Heep nodded. A high elf guard unlocks both doors of Heep and George. "Ok, your time is up, we settled everything up, and now we're ready for execution. Come with me."
The two followed the guard. Heep whispers to George. "When do we jump him?"
George looks and whispers back. "When the guard leads us to the gallows, some of my friends will shoot the ropes before we get hanged."
Heep nodded as he looked around. On the way to the gallows, he saw their weapons. He sneakingly went to get them and ran back before the guard noticed. He gave George his weapons. He then continues to walk with the guard, with George following behind. Shockingly, they didn't go to the gallows as George had planned. Instead, they went to the training grounds where soldiers tested their strength. George's eyes widened with fear in his eyes. "This... this is not how it's supposed to be. Why are we going here?"
The guard looked back and explained. "The halflings and Ghiks are bad at their jobs, so we decided to add a realistic military war simulation, and you guys are perfect for them to test their combat skills on since both of your races are weak and pathetic creatures."
The guard then put them in the middle of the simulation area. It looked like a small village. Heep looks around slowly realizing why it looks like a small village. "They're training Ghiks on how to fight in sieges." He told George as he looked around. The two are just some of the ones in the simulation. There were also other prisoners of different species. The two get their weapons out as they hear the horn. Five Ghiks come out armed and ready.
The two then braced to fight the Ghiks. Heep runs in first as he instantly decapitates the first Ghik. The other Ghiks watched in horror as they saw their friend get killed instantly. "THEY SAID THIS WAS EASY!" One of them screamed. George ran in as well as he slashed, but one of the Ghiks was clever enough to block the attack with his shield. The Ghiks cowardly slashed at the two, but the two were still up as they retaliated. They were slashing back and forth, George was badly hurt, but he ended up killing one of the Ghiks.
"These guys... they're stronger than I thought..." George said as he tried to close the wound on his arm.
Heep had just finished killing one of the stronger Ghiks after the same Ghik stabbed him. George luckily killed another Ghik. There was only one Ghik left. The Ghik looked at the two with fear. He started to run away without disengaging first, leaving George to stab him in the back but it didn't kill him. The two quickly got out their bows and arrows and shot the fleeing Ghik. The Ghik fall to the ground, dead.
The two try to close their wounds. They were badly wounded as they looked around. They found a few health potions to use on the dead Ghiks. They drank them to heal all of their wounds. "Woah... we need more of this stuff," Heep told George as he collected more potions. The two looked around to see an exit. They found out that the only way to escape is through the front gate and into the city.
The two looked back at the other prisoners and sighed as they went to escape without them. "Too many will get the high elves to hunt us down," George told Heep as they went through the front gate. However, that didn't matter because the high elves started to chase them down. The two run as fast as they can before escaping to the woods where the high elves can't see them. They kept searching but found nothing.
Heep and George finally escaped. "I'm never going to do a stunt like that again..." George mumbled.
Heep looked at George. "How did you get in the cell in the first place?" He asks.
George looked back at Heep. "Oh, I faked my identity as a high elf. They caught me before I walked in one of their fancy balls."
Heep nodded. "Ok... I was in a cell for standing up against a high elf soldier."
"You know what? I say that's noble of you." George smiled at Heep.
Heep shyly smiled as well. "Thanks."
