Chapter 3.2: {Star and Moon}: Heartbroken

The sun shone through the window into a beautiful room onto the two men laying on the bed under the full white blanket.

The younger man woke up first and stretched his arms, not recognizing where he was at first. After yawning and looking around for a few minutes, Jimbae realized that the place was not familiar to him.

With clear panic in his face, he turned to look at the man beside him. The man's face was buried inside the blanket, only his feet out. Jimbae looked at himself, lifting the blanket and looking around, he realized there was not a single piece of clothing left on his body. Instead, all scattered on the floor next to him.

When about to move to grab his clothes, Jimbae felt a stinging pain on his lower body. He couldn't get up properly. And it had just proved to make it clearer that what he was thinking, was maybe right.

Not wanting to believe the obvious, Jimbae looked around for more clues towards the older man. After lifting the blanket from over the man's face, he came to recognize that the man he might have just slept with was none other than his high school senior, Joe. Joe was shirtless as well.

Jimbae moved from his position, trying hard to dress under the blanket without waking Joe up. But his all effort went downhill when he realized the pair of eyes staring him all the way. He looked back at Joe but the man just smiled at Jimbae and didn't utter a single word.

After dressing, Jimbae got up from the bed and started walking towards the door without saying anything calmly. "Wait! Aren't you going to say something?" Joe stopped him as he sat up on the bed. Jimbae turned around to look at the man and smiled a mischievous grin.

"Whatever happened last night was just a one night stand. I hope it won't go beyond just you and me," Jimbae uttered out, his memories were still not clear but his mind was already convinced that it did happen. And though he was embarrassed, he didn't want to show it and appear weak to his senior.

"You got it," Joe replied, raising one of his eyebrows just a little before running his hand through his hair and running his index and thumb finger together over his own lips as if zipping his lips.

With a shy smile, Jimbae came out of the apartment. He couldn't believe he had slept with his senior. Facepalming himself, he tried to remember the night but couldn't remember anything except the image of Joe's cock. That picture had been stuck in his mind all along since the moment he tried to think it out. And that was probably a hint to what he didn't want to believe.

On the way to looking for an Uber, Jimbae silently prayed that it was all a dream. He was drunk. He didn't know what he was doing. It's not like sleeping with Joe was the worst thing ever but the problem was that Joe's his senior. How was he ever supposed to look at him the same way again?

After finally getting an Uber, Jimbae got in, his mind still filled with so many thoughts. Sleeping with Joe was one thing but another was Carrot. She didn't message him till that day.

But in some way, Jimbae felt bad. Carrot already broke up with him so technically it's not cheating but he felt as if it was left unclear. And him going to the bar just to get drunk and sleep with a man was just pure stupid after such a small argument. He could have learnt what it was about before jumping into a conclusion.

Arriving at the house door, Jimbae entered and sighed. He felt tired though he basically did nothing tiring. Thinking was tiring. And the consistent pounding in his head after drinking so much was a whole another issue.

Jimbae threw himself on the couch as if he wouldn't mind going back to sleep even though he had just woken up. Holding his head, he smiled but that smile was comparatively very different from the happy smile he usually wore. He looked more pleased than happy. Pleased about what, you may ask? Life. Life's lessons always taught him one thing, that whatever happens, happens for the better.

It's hard being the class clown, being the sunshine, being the one to never give up and inspire people. But you know what, it's true that the happiest person on display is the saddest in life. Maybe it was time for Jimbae to experience the sad part of life.

And as always, the weekend went in misery, like a relaxing day off from all the things he had had to go through just the other day.

Before Jimbae knew it, it was time to face the truth, face Carrot, ask her boldly and communicate about what the actual problem was.

At school, Jimbae met Carrot but she didn't say anything to him. In fact, she had rather avoided him the whole time. Jimbae kept trying to think if he had done something wrong but nothing came his way.

After finally giving up on the excessive thoughts, Jimbae decided to confront her. After classes, he went to her and told her to come to the side of the school ground so they could talk it out. Even though Carrot looked like she clearly didn't want to talk to Jimbae, she agreed and met him there.

"Carrot, I'm worried. Why did you break up with me like that? Did I do anything?" Jimbae asked, his hands gripping Carrot's tightly. Carrot's eyes were fixed on the floor as if she didn't have the courage or was scared to look him in the eyes.

"It's not you, it's me," Carrot replied, her voice filling with guilt and concern.

"What do you mean?" Jimbae asked, stepping a step back before letting go of her hand and gripping his own hair.

"I don't think I like you like that," She replied. Jimbae didn't know what to say. It was true. They dated for almost a year yet they never kissed, never made out. He always felt like it was different, something different than love but he couldn't make out what it actually was. They just weren't attracted to each other physically.

"I understand. But it's almost been a year. Could we really not make it clearer from the start?" Jimbae questioned but more to himself than to Carrot. He didn't quite understand what love felt like. But he had understood that he was still young. It's normal for young people to mistake something else for love. Love isn't easy to find. Therefore, he shouldn't have tried to force it.

"I'm sorry," Carrot replied, finally lifting her head to look at Jimbae. He smiled looking at her. Carrot smiled back.

"Can we still be friends?" Jimbae asked, his smile getting wider. Maybe they both always admired each other as friends and it was never more than that but they misinterpreted it.

Carrot nodded shyly. She started looking around. She had also realized that maybe they just weren't meant to be. But nevertheless, even though they didn't work out, she never regretted dating Jimbae. Jimbae was the kindest person in her eyes, her hero.

To Be Continued.....

A/n: I'm really satisfied with this chapter even though there was not much dialogues in it. I feel like I succeeded in telling what characters, specifically Jimbae felt about this.

Do you think you understand or relate to Jimbae in any way?
