Chapter 12.1: {Sun and Sky}: Where's my Cure?

The sun hid behind the sky again in an attempt to escape but it's not easy. The sun has to stand strong and face everything despite the hate no matter what. The rain, water, clouds and the sky couldn't always save him. He knew that.

Even with how he had previously behaved with the sky, the sky didn't push him apart. The same went for Akk, no matter how much he wanted to hate Ayan, he couldn't. He wanted to hate Ayan's guts for being opposite him, for always making him panic, for being... too right.

After hiding from everyone for a day or a few, Akk finally had to go back. It hurt him but he knew some, even though way less, people needed him.

Entering his class, Akk was again taken aback by the vacant seat next to him. That was happening a bit too many times. Someone like Ayan didn't skip school, especially when he knew that Akk would come.

Once again, the teacher didn't even bother asking for Ayan. It was strange. The little concern of Akk rose more and more over time. Why did no one ask where Ayan was? Why was everyone acting like he didn't exist?

After Class

"Teacher Waree!" Akk yelled as he walked out of his classroom after teacher Waree but she didn't stop anywhere. She didn't even turn to look at Akk. She just ignored him and walked away.

"Teacher!" Akk yelled again as he began to follow Waree towards the office. After yelling a few more times, teacher Waree finally turned to look at him once she arrived at the office.

"What is it, Akk? I'm in a hurry," She asked as if she wasn't just ignoring Akk.

Akk found everything strange. Too strange. "Teacher..," He began. He didn't know how to continue asking. The pressure the teacher was putting over his important matters was already too much and he didn't even know if he was sure that it was a matter at all or if he was just overthinking.

"What? Hurry up!" Teacher Waree rushed, entering the office door and placing the attendance book on the table.

Akk followed after. "Umm..," He began again, the sense of uneasiness bursting inside him as the teacher rushed him on the spot. He forgot everything he was about to say or ask.

"If you have nothing to say, I'll go," Teacher Waree mumbled to Akk before leaving the office room in a rush. Akk stood there for a few seconds in silence to let himself calm down. He never liked being rushed. It always made him nervous and forget everything.

Akk leaned his hip against the table to relax for a few seconds. If that was someone else, they'd probably attempt to get out of the office as soon as possible as they would be in big trouble if one of the teachers saw them in the office room but for Akk, it was always an exception. As the school president and head of the prefect club, it was usually his duty to bring and return the attendance books to the office so it was nothing unusual for him to be present there.

Akk's gaze averted towards the table as he sighed. It was an odd feeling. Almost like... he was missing Ayan. Not that he wasn't but... it was a different feeling. He never even missed his family like that.

Meeting Ayan had always been satisfying to him. Ayan annoyed him but it felt like he seemed to give him a break from overthinking. His mind would automatically be at ease once he saw Ayan. It was like a temporary cure to all his problems and stress.

Akk's eyes roamed to the attendance book on the table. He was worried. Like really anxious about the matter. The teachers suddenly became too calm and enduring towards Ayan and then out of nowhere, Ayan stopped coming to school, it seemed too coincidental.

One side of him told him to pick up the attendance book and check what was wrong while the other side of him stayed silent and said 'no, you have nothing to do with this. He probably deserves whatever's happening.' Akk hated having to argue with himself but what he hated more was that the side of him that was on Ayan's side always won, even though it was his own heart.

In the end, Ayan's pupils always won. Akk picked up the book and turned each page steadily, his back covering what he was doing, in case someone came in.

"09 June 2024", after finally finding the page of the current week, Akk went through the attendance list. "Ayan Sukkhapasit", it was written in the usual letters but what was unusual was that his name was crossed with a red line. While the other students were marked as either 'A' (Absent) or 'P' (Present), all the boxes beside his name were totally empty. In fact, as long as Akk knew, Ayan was absent for three days then how come the other boxes of the week weren't marked as 'P'?

The teachers were surely planning something or perhaps, they'd already begun their plan but it went all over Akk's head. What the hell was going on? And how were the teachers benefitted by doing this to students?

How come it was that the more Akk got to know Ayan, the more he began to hate his own school? The more he began to hate his teachers? Perhaps because Ayan was bringing the real faces of those people out to the public? But why was he sacrificing himself? Would it ever be worth it?

Akk put the file down. Why were the teachers doing that to a teenage student who probably didn't even understand what he was doing? Akk really didn't understand that. How could his beloved teachers be so... unwelcoming?... So cruel?

As Akk walked out of the office room, he was met with a sight of Kan in the hallway, holding Thua's hand. He really didn't mind seeing them in such a way. Because of course, it wasn't any of his business but Kan seemed to not be ready to publicly show any affection as he pushed Thua's hand away almost immediately.

Kan stopped for a few seconds, his hands suddenly gripping the end of his own shirt tightly until Thua pushed him just a bit from behind. "Kan!" He shouted, his voice only loud enough for Kan to hear properly.

Kan's mind went back to reality as his grip on his shirt loosened. He turned his head to look at Thua behind him before continuing to walk.

Thua followed after Kan. It was not like Kan was not at all affectionate with people in public. There were multiple times when Thua saw Kan hugging Akk in public then why was he suddenly like that with Thua?

Thua tried to think. Kan had been the one after Thua for a few days even though he wasn't really like that before and now, he was suddenly against PDA?

Thua always had neutral feelings about PDA. Which basically meant that he was okay with it as long as it wasn't over the top, such as kissing and all in public. Holding hands or hugging was totally fine. Kan, on the other hand, Thua knew was a great fan of physical touches even in public.

As much as Thua had known him, a pat on the back always helped much better to get Kan through any difficulties than saying, 'it's okay'.

To Be Continued.....

* * * * *

A/n: Akk's perspective of the school and.the teachers is changing day by day. Now, he's stuck in a rathole where he doesn't know who to believe, who to take on. But at least it makes him think about what's wrong and what's right.

Kan's also confused about his feelings and intrusion.
