-False's POV-
At the top of the Boomer's shop is where I hid, spying on the shopping district, waiting for an unexpected hermit to come prey to the zombies infested beneath the shops. Wels fallen for the zombies, and I bravely eliminated them with my trusty sword!
But ever since then, not that many hermits visited the shopping district. Most especially 'Lookie Lookie at my Bookie', I thought someone would want to buy a book... Now I sound like Keralis, oof.
I sank lower on the roof and huffed. I took a nibble of my golden carrots while keeping my eyes on the area. I did not want to be spotted stalking the district, actually that sounded wrong to be fair.
But I was starting to regret this idea. I am itching to continue on my base, and other projects such as my flower farm. Whatever I was doing felt unproductive but really, you gotta do what it takes to encourage others that I'm a good mayor.
Before I even had the idea of giving up, a sound of fireworks caught my attention. I scrambled back to the edge of the roof and took another peak at the area. My excitement grew once I saw my next victim- or the zombie's victim.
Cub looked to be going around shop to shop, and I felt my anxiety growing every time he came close to Lookie Lookie at my bookie. "Come on Cub, buy a book," I muttered to myself, preparing the bow I gripped with my fist...
Cub kept roaming around the area till he stood in front of the LLAMB. He took inspection of the shop for a while till he went inside to purchase a book. "Finally!" I exclaimed softly. Taking aim of the pressure and shot my arrow.
A pack of nonhuman creatures leaped from the hole and swarmed around the inside of the shop. But not to worry! False is here! I glided down to the ground and ran inside the shop with my enchanted sword ready to be used.
"Need some help Cub!" I exclaimed, pushing the diamond blade through the zombie's chest as it disappeared to a puff of smoke. I took a few swings at the mobs till there wasn't a single zombie in the shop.
I placed back my sword near my waist and let out a satisfied chuckle. "Saved the da-" My smile fell to a frown, when I looked back at the hermit.
Cub struggled to stand up, hugging his stomach. There was discomfort in his eyes as he breathed heavily with what look a pained expression. He collapsed on the floor panting, closing his eyes shut, flinching from any movement he made.
"CUB!!" I slid down to his level, shaking his white sleeve shirt. He opened one eye, taking notice of my presence. He looked at me poorly, mustering his energy to mutter, "H-elp.."
I felt myself panicking, maybe about to cry out for help. I pushed my fidgeting hands through my pocket till threw out the communicator, grabbed it, and struggled to type out a short sentence before hitting send.
>FalseSymmetry: HELp Lokie at bookie!!!!!!<
But instead of wasting my time waiting, I dropped the communicator on the ground and crawled to the ender chest at front. I hastily took a bottle of healing potion and crawled back to the hermit. I shook Cub's shoulder, waking him. First I wrapped my arms around his underarms and carefully dragged him near the wall, and positioned him to sit.
I took the potion from my hands and pushed it to his, and wrapped my hands around his to keep a grip on the potion, "Drink."
Cub stared at me then at the potion with hazy eyes. He lifted the bottle with hesitant hands and took a few gulps of the pink liquid till it was emptied out. He winced from both the pain and the bittersweet taste of the liquid. The side affects started kicking in, and pink bubbles started floating above the hermit.
Cub breathed in and let out a big, tired sigh. He leaned back on the wall, removing his hands that covered both the stomach and chest. I too sighed in relief, all panic left my shoulders as the slouched down.
"My goodness Cub I'm so sorry!" I kneeled downthe floor with my heart throbbing from the guilt slapping me on the face. "It was my fault for the zombies. I should've considered the possibility of someone getting hurt. I-I just wanted to scare you all with the mobs, I-I..I"
I felt a big lump in my throat as I hesitated on saying what I wanted to say. I refused to breakdown in front of Cub, but small whimper escaped my lips. I still kept my head low between my hands.
"Well obviously... I know you wouldn't even hurt a fly," Cub whispered, struggling to sit up straight but managed to lean closer to the wall. "We know better than anyone that you wouldn't hurt us intentionally . So why don't you stop bowing? I'm not royalty.."
"Says the pharaoh himself," I scoffed. I brought myself back to my knees and a small smile formed in my face. Cub laughed softly. "Where does it hurt?" I asked. "You know... from that zombie attack.."
"The stomach. The zombies really did catch me by surprise and have probably destroyed all my ribs," He joked from that last sentence. "But aside from the continuous pain near my chest... I think I'm alright.."
The guilt stabbed my chest like a sword passing through my chest. He was still in pain, even with the potion slowly healing. I still blamed myself for the idea of putting mobs around the district... I kept both my hands near my lap and kept my head down low in shame....
Tiny snores interrupted my train of thought. Cub had seemed to pass out from the potion, now he was sleeping peacefully, in a rather awkward position. I slid next to the hermit and let his head rest on my shoulder, like a pillow. Now he looked more comfortable.
Fireworks kept spamming from outside the shop till a big thud echoed near the entrance. The blonde hermit, also the one who helped me with the mobs, came inside in a panic before stopping near his tracks, and stared worriedly at the both of us.
He seemed to finally calmed down when I gave him a smile, shaking my head. "So I take it that the plan didn't go exactly as plan?" He chuckled awkwardly, hiding his left hand behind his neck.
"Quite the opposite. Plan went too well, "A soft chuckle escaped my lips, but my smile faltered.
Tango caught on my strange demeanor and gave me a pitiful glance. "You okay Falsey?"He asked. He took a few steps forward and crouched right in front of Cub.
I hummed, nodding my head slowly.I didn't realize that I was gripping my jacket too tightly, and it formed a couple of crinkles on the surfaces of the dark green cloth. "I'm alright.." I whispered.
Tango hummed back, placing his left hand on Cub's knee. "Well.. Part of me feels like I should also share the guilt with you. I did set up most of the traps and mobs and all, so partially it's my fault too...Hehe."
"Tango no. It was my idea to-"
"But!" He interrupted before I could finish my sentence . " Whether the plan was executed without fail or not, either way you still helped Cub without hesitation. As a mayoral candidate, you've still promised to protect the hermits from harm's way."
He turned his head and beamed at me with warmest smile, "So even if I'm a Scar supporter, I still think you would make a great Mayor False."
I stared at him, stunned, a bit tense. I felt my cheeks heating up and my chest started to feel fuzzy. The guilt that plagued me was still there, but I actually felt a bit better about myself now.
"Gee..thanks Tango." We both shared each other a smile.
"False?! Tango?!"
Keralis came swooping in from the sky and landed right directly in front of the stairs. He was about to open his mouth till he glanced at the unconscious Cub, sleeping at his very own shop. Keralis' eyes were now unbelievably wider than before. "Is Cuby okay?!"
Then cue Iskall who came up from nowhere looking curious at the scene in the shop. "I read the message. Is everything okay?" He asked. Tango jumped from his crouch position and wrapped his arms around both Keralis and Iskall's necks.
"I'll explain later. Right now can one of you purchase a healing potion please?" He requested. Iskall was still confuse but agreed anyway and took off to the sky. Keralis was a worried mess but Tango shook his head and led him farther away from his own shop.
*BZZZZZZ!!*
I flinched from the vibration near my leg. I stretched out for my communicator, and stared at the most recent notification.
>Xisuma joined the game<
>Xisuma: False is everything okay?<
>FalseSymmetry: Yeah. It's alright now.<
>FalseSymmetry: ^^<
