Ten
I awake before Clover has the chance to prepare my bath. In a blur, the three girls prepare me for the first official breakfast with the royal family. It also means that I have to talk with Hunter, whom I currently despise.
Claire sets me up in a green day-dress and pairs it with nude pumps. Sarah pins my brown locks up into a regal messy bun and puts pearl pins in it for a bit of extra pizazz. As I do a twirl in the mirror, my mouth drops at their amazing fashion sense.
"I love it!" I exclaim with a lasting smile.
"Thank you Miss! Now off to breakfast." Claire scolds, shooing me away.
London and I meet up with Bianca and Aurora before making our way to the dining room which is frighteningly bare.
Our chatting- well their chatting- of meeting the Prince ends abruptly as the lack of food shines brilliantly within our morning hunger. I was always taught, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. If the Palace couldn't even handle that concept, who could?
"What?" Aurora mutters with a saddened voice. She couldn't stop talking about blueberry muffins on the way down here. Now, there were none.
Out of the blue, Miss Jenkins appears and grabs everyone's attention with two sharp claps. I practically feel like cattle.
"Ladies listen up! Before breakfast, each one of you will meet His Royal Highness, Prince Hunter. After a short get-to-know-you he will dismiss a few and the rest will move on to the breakfast room. Now, I want you all to be on your absolute best behavior! Anyway... I am proud to introduce you to Prince Hunter." Miss Jenkins shouts among the ruckus of girls all whispering to each other.
With that announcement, the grand doors open to reveal the biggest prick on Earth. He waltzes in with a grandiose smile and a wave, making girls swoon already!
I make sure to catch his gaze and I narrow my eyes, unimpressed. His smile falters for a second but grows again as he turns to Miss Jenkins. They exchanged a few words but he soon leaves her to stand next to two chairs near a window.
"It is lovely to meet all of you beautiful young ladies. Now when I call your name, you must come over here so we can introduce ourselves. Now first up, Lady Amelia." She saunters over to the chair and curtsies way too low, flaunting her cleavage.
I turn my head. Unable to look at the whorish girl bumbling about like an absolute lunatic.
"I wonder how long this will last." Bianca grumbles whilst clutching her stomach. "I'm too hungry for this!"
"Same." I mutter, glancing at the barren table.
"Is it bad if I scarf down food in front of royalty? I mean- they're leaving us sitting here- without substance." London rhetorically asks, leaning her head on her hand.
"Well look at the bright side guys! He's already been through six people." I glance over at his royal pain in my ass and am pleasantly happy to find that he truly has gone through six girls, all whom are gossiping about how 'in love' he already was with them.
"Wow. Only twenty-nine left to go." I state sarcastically.
"Lady Corrine Jameston!" Hunter calls with a smirk as my eyes grow wide. I must look like a deer caught in headlights.
Slowly, I stand up and make my way over to the comfortable chair that I have been eyeing for the past half hour.
"Well if it isn't my sister's best friend." He greets with a cheery expression.
"Well if it isn't the arse who always seems to offend me." I retort, my voice lackluster. My craving for food was showing.
"Ah, you got me. So... I was actually meaning to make up for that. Corrine, I know that you kind of dislike me right now," I snort at that. "But, I was wondering if you would like to discuss our differences over lunch. This way, I don't waste your time and you don't waste mine." I nod along to his proposition. It wouldn't hurt to see if I might have a slightest bit of interest in him but it would mean having to listen to him for an hour.
"Ugh, fine." I grumble, almost too tired to keep my back straight.
"Just fine? Corrine, you do realize you have the first date right?" Hunter beams proudly as if he were giving me a reward.
"So? It's more of a pressured friendly discussion than a date." I add, making sure that he doesn't forget my dislike for him.
"Whatever. I'm sick of dealing with your sass. Do you know how hungry I am?" He complains while brushing nonexistent dust off his suit.
"You! I walked in here expecting a feast but instead I found an empty table and grouchy Prince!" I narrow my eyes but keep the plastered smile. It's all for the cameras.
"Always a pleasure, Corrine. I need to talk to more of these fakes. I'll pick you up at twelve." Hunter sighed and brushed his fingers through his hair. The thing that I can't stand is that I can't seem to look away.
"Okay then." Is all I mutter when gaining back my conscious.
Bianca smirks at me when I sit back down.
"What?" I ask at her inquiring demeanor.
"Nothing. You just look like you have a little more pep in your step." She states while looking at the flower decorations in the middle.
For some reason, I feel as if that's not what she's smiling about.

You know what sucks?
Being hungry enough to eat a horse but only eating half a regular persons portion because you are in front of twenty-six other skinny girls and the royal family. I wasn't even able to grab a muffin because all the other girls only took fruit.
After Hunter eliminated eight girls, we finally got to head into the dining room where breakfast is being served. Little did I know that all I could have was fruit.
I know you should eat what you want but Mother made it a known fact to keep my behavior in check when around certain people of certain statuses. It's how I was raised; I can't break that.
"The pineapple is to die for!" London exclaims while finishing up her meek serving. The girl practically took nothing; only a pineapple spear and a half a dozen strawberries.
"I agree. The raspberries are also very lovely." I nod back to her while eying a pasty that was just sitting out in the open- ready to be scarfed down.
"How's the fruit?" Hunter calls from a few seats down as he finished swallowing his strawberry tart. I have a strange inkling to wring his neck.
"Scrumptious." I state, my tone clipped. I need sufficient substance!
"That's lovely. I love this tart here. These pastries; delicious. Our cook makes the best." With that, I gave up my willpower.
I plop one on my plate and take a polite bite. I have to hold back an embarrassing moan- the sweet taste of the pastry just melted in my mouth. I don't know weather to thank Hunter, or curse him.
Apparently, Hunter's great description of the sweet has got the other girls mouths watering and a few fallow my lead and take a treat. Even London takes a tart and nibbles on the corner.
Through my peripheral vision, I take notice to how smug Hunter looks. No matter how much I wanted to both smack that expression off his face or hug him in glee because I finally got to eat what I wanted; I decided to respond in between the two; staying exactly how I was.

I relax in the comfy sofa of the library with Aurora, Bianca, and London. We decided not to visit the women's room because it is most likely a breeding ground for drama.
"So what did he say to you, Corrine?" London asked. We were all talking about how our meetings with the Prince went. Bianca and Hunter both like to hike, Aurora got a couple compliments from him, and London said that they both love to swim. Now- I assume- that it's my turn to stir our cauldron of gossip.
"Well you all know that we have met already. We just exchanged a few snarky comments about him asking me to lunch." I shrug while the girls in front of me go ballistic in joy.
"You got asked on a date!"
"He must really like you!"
"Cor, I'm so happy for you!" The three of them ramble off.
"Thanks guys, but trust me, it will be anything but romantic." I respond with a sigh.
"Oh- don't be such a downer! It's already eleven, we need to get you ready!" Bianca says after glancing up at the wall.
We rush to my room too find my maids.... not there. In spark of panic, the girls run around my room in a tizzy, picking out my outfit and getting me all glamed up for my date.
They leave after deciding that I am Hunter-worthy. Only five minutes to go.
I wear a light blue dress that goes to my mid-thigh and has spaghetti straps. The back is my favorite though, it's lace with a cutout in the small of my back. Aurora paired it with white, strappy stilettos that look adorable with the ensemble. London put my hair up in some sort of twist and also did my makeup which stayed relatively simple.
Needless to say, I wasn't surprised to open the door to a jaw-dropped Prince.
Hey my lovelies!
I hope you like the new chapter! Tell me what you all think about Hunter so far!
