Chapter 1

**Author's Note!**

So to have the dates and ages match up with the storyline I'm advancing the years accordingly. Everything will be the same as 2019 though, so the change is just a formality. (By the way, it's 2025 now so Yurio is currently 24 years old. If this is hard for you just remember he was born in 2001 and subtract that from the year to find his age, although I will write it too. For future reference Otabek is 3 years older than Yuri, Victor is 12 years older than Yuri and Yuuri (Yuuri Katsuki that is) is 8 years older than Yuri. Sorry that was confusing.) Enjoy!

Yurio's POV 1st Person

I moan as I roll over, sore and feeling like my limbs are made of lead. I try to muster the energy to turn off my alarm, but before I can even come close an arm reaches over and does it for me. I shift my head slightly on the pillow to find Otabek watching me through sleep muddled eyes. He says something to me with a broad smile forming on his face but I miss it, finding the previous movement jarring and bringing on what I know to be the beginnings of a migraine. Once the pain subsides somewhat I reopen my eyes and find Otabek watching me, looking far more awake than he had done before, a twinge of worry in his eyes.

"Are you okay?" He asks me, taking in the dead expression I wear. I start to nod but stop quickly at the jolt of pain that shoots through my temple. He lifts a hand and brushes the hair from my face, his look of concern instantly deepening at the contact with my skin. "You're warm," He says and sits up in bed. Again, I go to follow him but then think better of it, the motion blurring my vision and sending my head swimming. He glances behind him, looking at the clock that sits on his bedside table, seeing the glowing letters on it that form 6:02 am. So that's why my alarm went off, we have to get up for training. Normally I'd rise and go about my morning routine; showering, brushing my teeth, eating breakfast and such, but today I hesitate to. The two brief movements I've made since waking up haven't exactly gleaned positive results. Otabek, seemingly following my train of thought shakes his head slightly, "We're not going to training today,"

"Oh, good," I mumble, the words feeling like cotton as I form them, my tongue tripping over itself and enunciating poorly. Otabek frowns and touches my forehead again, this time moving his hand back to his own,

"You don't look well," He states and surveys my face once more, "You're really hot too, hold on a minute," He leaves the room, returning a second later with the old baby thermometer we never use, and I'm honestly not sure how we got. He takes one look at my half-closed eyes and gently pushes it under my tongue, holding it in place so I don't have to move. When it beeps, and I'm half asleep when it does so it wakes me up, he removes it and stares at the number before holding it out for me to see. After a second he just reads it out for me, as I seem to be having trouble focusing on the numbers; my vision fading together like it does when you've just woken up. "102.32," He says with a look in my direction, "Any higher and I'd take you to the doctor- have you always run fevers this high?" He asks me, and I shake my head weakly, immediately wincing at the sharp pain rocketing through my skull. "Well that settles it," He says resolutely and pulls the covers up higher around me, so I'm in a cocoon of warmth. "Go back to sleep, I'll see what I can find around here," I don't need to be told twice, and stop fighting to stay awake. In seconds I'm asleep, and without my knowledge, Otabek leans down and kisses me on the head before leaving the room, whispering a gentle, "Goodnight Yura," before closing the door.

I wake again at around 10 am, or at least that's what the clock says when I open my eyes and find myself facing it. I also find a glass of ginger ale and a baby Aspirin sitting next to it. I grimace as I raise myself to a sitting position and gratefully gulp down the pill accompanied by the entire glass of ginger ale. As soon as that's done I lie back down and shut my eyes, willing the dizziness to subside. It does not, instead bringing with it a wave of nausea.

Otabek's POV 1st Person

I hear hurried yet clumsy footsteps followed by a soft thump and something else I can't quite make out. I make my way to the bedroom to find the bed vacant, yet the bathroom door open with muffled noises coming from inside. Yuri retches into the toilet violently, his forearms braced on the toilet bowl, keeping himself upright. I hurry over and tie up his hair, getting it out of the way before rubbing his back and holding him while his body heaves. Eventually, this subsides and he slumps down weakly, looking pale and drawn. I support him as I help him to his feet and back to bed, his steps unsteady and weak. Once he's on the duvet he curls into a little ball and pants slightly, obviously exhausted by his small endeavor to the bathroom and back. I once again shift him to the side slightly and pull the covers up, nestling them around him so only a tuft of his blonde hair is visible. Once I'm satisfied that he's okay under there I check his bedside table, finding the glass drained and the pill gone, hopefully that'll help. I refill the cup, with water this time, and set it out for him, also leaving a Tums in hopes that it'll settle his stomach. I really don't know, I'm not good at handling sick people, but then again my Yuri isn't exactly just a person.

I smile down at the ring on my finger, knowing Yuri wears a matching one. We exchanged them three years ago and were officially married the year after that. Just the thought makes me so happy. Even as I watch my sleeping husband's chest rise and fall with his labored breathing I can't help but smile. He's mine, and I am his, and that's all I've wanted for more than fifteen years, ever since I met him at Yakov's summer camp. It's a dream come true.
