Chapter 7
Oh god. Today's first day of school. You have no idea how much I'm dreading this. This is such a stupid idea! Unfortunately for me, I had asked dad if I could join a public school instead but he had clearly refused. Why? The answer is still a mystery to me.
Goodness' sake, I wasn't really looking forward to this! I mean sure I was excited for getting in and stuff, but staying in the high school undercover as a boy now may seem a bit over the edge...
Why do I have to do this again? Oh, right. Bloody expensive schools. This is practically the best way to start the first day of school: stress out. Perfect, isn't it? Hint at the sarcasm.
I went into the bathroom and brushed my teeth and went off to take a shower.
Around five minutes later, I got out a towel wrapped around me and went back into my room just in time to see my sleepy, darling of a brother to want to get inside the bathroom but bump his head into the wall beside it instead. He rubbed his head in pain and forcefully keeping his eyes opened, got inside the bathroom.
It was a pretty hilarious sight, if you ask me. I got into my room and then quickly packed the guy disguise I was planning to be in for the rest of my day and the same preparation I spent hours last night making sure I knew how to do just so that I wouldn't waste a lot of time in the morning figuring it out.
I just wore a shirt and black jeans to keep it simple and not too suspicious. I packed my bag, which consisted of a pen, three notebooks, and the rest clothes which I managed to stuff in.
I walked out and saw my dad doing his daily routine. Reading a newspaper and sipping his tea. He's the only one's that's calm around here. In my defense, he's not the one attending a school full of boys! Well, I also didn't tell him about that...
"Morning dad. It's first day of school," I reminded as he merely nodded his head.
"I remember-"
"Before you ask, no, you don't need to come. I'm well capable of driving myself there and back. Plus try to look for some jobs today, alright?" I cut him off hastily as he had confusion written all over his face at my reluctance.
Without waiting for even a 'good morning' back, I stormed out of the house. Yeah, you can guess by now that I'm not a very patient person.
I made a stop in the bar which I found was on the way and pretty close to my house too. Now that had it's advantages and disadvantages...
I found out that it also had a public girls bathroom that was cleaned every single day. So, that meant that I could use it! And I was also told that not many people come and use it.
I got inside the bathroom and made sure no one was in it before hurrying and putting my balding cap on. Yes, I was going to put my balding cap on before I was going to put my wig on. What? Shocked to see that I'm not really a dumb one? Geez, I love maths 'kay? Don't judge a book by it's cover. Lucky for me, I was thin and had an almost flat chest, so that wasn't going to be a problem.
Right after applying my bald cap on tight, I put the wavy short hair on my fantastically, unusual, scarlet hair. I had scarlet hair from birth since my mom had the hair color too. It was one of the few things that made us unique.
The only thing about them was that they attracted too much attention. Something that I liked depending on the situation. As in, I loved the attractions I receive from fighting. Whereas, I hate the glares girls give me due to my scarlet hair and green eyes. You may think that those two features may not really go together, but trust me I'm an exception... I think that they go very well in my case.
So, after placing my wig on, I wore a polo shirt and to complete the look I wore a loose hoodie for people to not suspect my thin, feminine body. I looked at myself in the mirror and noticed that I looked really different. Since I was supposed to be a boy, I might hate to admit it but compared to the rest I did kinda look weak. But, anyone of them mess with me and they'll be gone before they know it. Make a note of that.
Making sure that everything was secure and not a single strand of hair was popping out, I went out of the bathroom.
Day one starts now, I thought as I hopped onto my bike and rode off to the school.
I pulled over into a parking spot and got off my motorbike. The school, now in front of me, was not very different from what I was shown on Google. If not, then it may as well be a bit larger. Well, obviously. This is real-life! Of course, it'd be bigger than the picture! I'm going mental... it's official.
I got a lot of strange looks from guys as I kept walking forward and into the principal's office.
The principal's office was pretty close to the music class and I could hear him shouting from outside.
Rolling my eyes, I knocked the door and pushed it open gently.
There I saw another guy rolling his eyes at the principal just as I was doing a few seconds away, as the principal finally stopped shouting and looked at me with a warm smile.
"Good morning, I'm new here."
"Morning to you too. I know you're new here, I was expecting you today," he replied.
I just nodded my head at him.
"Jace, I want you to show him to class. And here's your timetable," he said, handing a piece of paper to me while looking straight at the other guy on the chair in the eye.
"Thank you," I said politely.
He didn't answer back and with a flick of his hand, dismissed us.
Arrogant bastard. The guy was rude. On the way out, I looked at his name.
'MR. SUMMERS' it said on the door. Wow, was the capital letter in there for emphasis or what? How can such a dull person be named after my favorite season?! This is just unfair!
Just as we were walking, I noticed the guy clench his teeth together.
I recalled from the conversation that his name was Jace. Anyways, I wasn't interested in his life story so I decided to ignore him until he came and started a talk with me.
"Class is this way. Get in," he finally spoke up.
I narrowed my eyes at his bitter tone and remarked, "Why do I have a feeling that you are in this class too?" Thankfully, my voice came out deeper as I intended it to come out.
"That's cause I am, dumbass. Listen newbie, we all skip class here alright? We're not all innocent as you expect us to be alright, Mr.goody goody?"
I laughed at this. "Trust me on this one dude. I am nowhere near Mr. goody goody," I quoted and with that I entered the classroom without even bothering to knock.
The entire class was surprisingly calm at my sudden appearance and even the teacher didn't care.
"Name?" he asked.
"Alvin Winster," I replied.
"Detention," he said.
I rolled my eyes at him. Cause:
1) I wasn't even that late into class.
2) All I did was enter without knocking!
But I knew better than arguing. So, with a sickly sweet smile, I just continued class.
It wasn't like I was going to attend the detention anyways.
And with that I crumpled the yellow piece of paper in my hands, took out my earphones, and stuck them in my ear and listened to music. In class.

Lunch was finally nearing. I waited for the bell to ring...

And all the students jumped out of their chair including me and rushed out of the class.
I still had my earphones in and walked casually outside when suddenly my earphones were pulled out.
Whoever took my earphones out was in serious trouble. No one and I mean it, no one touches my earphones.
"Oh, look at this! The newbie is getting angry..." a guy trailed off at the end and gave a high-five to all his friends around him. I noticed that the guy I was talking to earlier this morning was also there and smirking at me.
"And look who's to blame?" I retorted.
There were a couple of 'oohs' and 'burn!' from the back but other than that I was really enjoying his pissed off face.
"Me. And what you gonna do about it?" he asked challenging me.
"Pal, you might want to stop. Or you'll be crying in pain in the next few seconds," I told him honestly.
"Oh, yeah?" he dared, coming closer to me and liking the challenge.
"Too bad you didn't pay attention to my words," I growled before punching him square in the face.
He was taken aback by my action while I just blew off imaginary dust off my knuckles and laughed as I left him in complete and utter shock. I advanced towards my bike before pulling away from the parking and driving off going to the one place I was waiting to go the whole entire day...
The bar.
Before I knew it, I was standing in front of it and I quickly went into the bathroom to take all the wigs and hoodies off and change into something more relaxing. Gosh, whatever this disguise was wasn't very comfortable.
Just as I was done, I tied my scarlet hair into a high pony and stuffed all the disguises into my bag.
I could see the same bartender I saw yesterday pouring drinks for a few idiots around the corner. I could feel the smile and resisted the urge to smile at the promise I made him yesterday...
I walked over to him and he narrowed his eyes at me and he finally recognized and from being narrowed they quickly changed to being wide-eyed. That needed some talent.
"Hey there, remember me? I told ya we'll meet up today, right? So, here I am to show you what I meant yesterday," I explained as I placed my elbows on the table.
I saw as a smirk formed and he nodded remembering me.
"Yeah I remember, by the way, I'm Luke. Your name?" He asked.
I didn't really trust him yet. So I told him the name I would be using in every single match I was going to fight in.
"Ash. Call me Ash," I said.
He repeated the name once and then gestured for me to continue to do what I wanted to show him.
"Please hurry. The curiosity couldn't even let me sleep yesterday," he admitted.
I chuckled slightly and directly went to the place where the guys were filling a form up to fight.
All you had to do was tick a box that said 'I agree on Terms and Conditions' which basically consisted off how the bar is not responsible for any blows and punches you may receive and you had to write in your bar name.
I filled it in and patiently waited for my chance to come. From the corner of my eye, I could see Luke's eyes popping out due to the fact that I actually filled in one of the forms to fight.
Obviously, no girl has fought in here before. But there's always a first...
I witnessed the match going on. The guy was focusing on only defense mode that he did not even attempt to deliver a punch when he could have or anything. He only dodged and relied on self-defense to probably tire out the other one.
He seriously didn't know how to fight! I mean self-defense is good in that technique but you should give out the few punches while you can.
The other guy won just as predicted because he delivered a few hard punches and on the last one, the defense guy was knocked down unconscious.
Apparently over here, the only way you would win was that if the other one either falls unconscious or surrenders.
The host took the right hand of the winner and raised it high up in the air, indicating that he won.
"The winner is Emmett!" the host declared.
The winner walked down the platform with a huge grin on his face while I listened intently to who the host would introduce next.
"Coming up, we have our all time winner Rocco Zan!"the host introduced a 6'2 man who was pretty built up and muscular.
"Competing with him we have a newbie: Ash!" I finished wrapping my knuckles and walked towards the platform, trying to ignore the fact that I had been called a newbie twice today.
Many disapproving cheers and 'boos' came from the drunk people once they realized that the newbie 'Ash' was in reality a girl.
Bloody sexists, I thought to myself before finally reaching.
"The match starts... Now!" he announced and scurried away. Leaving only 'Rocco Zan' and me in the ring.
I never broke eye contact, mainly to show him that I wasn't afraid.
He started by throwing a snap-punch towards my ribs, of which I barely dodged.
This so-called Rocco turned out to be much better than I thought.
I took a step back due to his unanticipated move. He came forwards just as I did that and tried to punch me once again in my abdomen. I dodged it and hit his jaw with my elbow hard. He stumbled back and I used this as an advantage, as I bent him over and let his body collide with my knee.
I expected him to wait and catch his breath but instead, he tried to punch me once more which I successfully dodged.
Changing from defense to attack, I faked a gut punch to his right and when he moved towards his left I shot an uppercut and his mouth started bleeding terribly.
He came up to me at the same time I did but he threw a punch first at my right cheek and I could feel the sharp, stinging pain that was building up in my cheek.
He smiled triumphantly despite the hard punch I shot, while I shot him death glares.
That was the last punch you were ever going to deliver, I thought before fury and anger got the best of me.
I headbutted his face, so that his nose would bleed. And sure enough, he held one hand trying to stop the nosebleed. Seeing that he only had one hand left, I used the heel of my palm, which is usually exceptionally powerful, swinging it right at his chin and made sure to torque my body in the direction of my blow. I saw him trying to force his eyes not to shut and he tried to defend himself, however, he was very weak and I landed a perfect blow in his stomach and finally, ending it up by bringing my elbow up and hitting him right on the face. He fell backwards and finally fell unconscious.
The cheers and roaring of the crowd brought me back to reality, I tried my best to look away from his bleeding body and smirked at him.
Never underestimate a girl again, I seemed to tell him and the rest of the crowd before the host grabbed my hand and raised it high in the air.
"The winner is Ash!" he declared and I walked out of the platform with a smile on my face.
My first victory but not my last... I still had a lot to prove, I thought before remembering something.
"Oh, shit. It's been a well two hours past school time and dad must be wondering where I am!" I panicked, saying all of it out loud before grabbing my winnings and rushing out. I had earned a lot, considering that they had bet a lot of money on 'Rocco Zan'. Apparently, he was an undefeated fighter until now. If that was the best they've got, I'll be earning so much more...
I glanced at Luke and saw that his jaw was hanging open as he stared at me.
I smiled at his reaction and booted up the kickstand and put the bike into gear as I rushed out- only wondering what dad was going to do to me.
Oh, good lord. Someone kill me now.
