Chapter 39

London's POV:

I tried to turn away from Zayn, staring at a person I had almost begun to trust. Eleanor. She was so nice to me. What have I done that has made them so angry?

Her long brown hair was slightly curled at the ends, reaching the little pocket of her much too large, white shirt. I was sure that it wasn't her garment. It probably belonged to Louis, her boyfriend... Will Harry borrow me his clothes as well?

... Light brown eyes examined me in detail with a stern look, which was almost petrified, but I could clearly see that she felt pity for me. At least I hoped so, because I still didn't know what I had done to make myself an outsider.

"So, how is it going, Harry?" Said the blonde girl, who sat next to Zayn. Perrie.

She had just looked at me as if she wanted to eat me inside out, and now she turned to Harry, to symbolize that her question was adressed only to him. I wasn't involved in the conversation at all.

I've never been a strong personality, didn't have much self-confidence, and what I had, Harry gave me. Watching that his friends ignored me, when they're not busy glaring at me, made me even more insecure. I could feel the tears forming in my eyes and my fingers clutched tightly at the fabric of the couch. A lump formed in the back of my throat and I could feel an uncomfortable stinging in my lower abdomen.

"Oh, I'm fine." I felt Harry's eyes on me and could see out of the corner of my eye that he frowned. "London? Is everything okay?" Now I stared back at all of their faces and I felt more uncomfortable than I was anyway.

I took Harry's hand, slipping it down from my thigh, then I stood up, looking in the direction where Eleanor sat, who had now worry written completely onto her face.

"I-I just need to get some air...s-sorry, " I stuttered, before my wobbly feet brought me into the hallway.

"Do you need something? Babe?" I heard Harry asking, but then a known female voice stopped him and Harry sat back down on the couch.

I felt a hot tear rolling down my cheek, tickling my jaw. But I had no desire to laugh, so I wiped it away and sat down on the first step of the stairs, leaning my elbows on my knees and burying my face in my hands. I had planned to stay strong when I decided to take this dangerous, unusual relationship to me. Yes, for me it seemed to be dangerous, because it could not only destroy me, but also Harry. Not physically, but mentally. And it started way too early...

My quiet sobbing almost drowned out the brief steps of the person who eventually sat down beside me on the stairs, putting her delicate hand around my shoulder. I could smell her perfume, flowery and refreshing. It smelled very nice.

"Hey, London...what's wrong?" She asked me with her tender voice, but I didn't look up to her, avoiding to show her my ugly face, which looked the worst now that I cried.

I wanted to stay strong, damn.

"Don't cry," she remained silent for a moment before she finally hit my soft spot of a problem. "Is it because they are so cold towards you?"

I nodded my head before her arm tightened around me, me leaning against her shoulder. The loving gesture was good for me, calming me down a bit.

"Why are they mad? What have I done?" I asked with a trembling voice.

Eleanor took a long breath and sighed softly before she gave me the answer that made everything clear to me.

"See...what you have done to Harry was something they had never expected. They didn't expect you to run away after he had told you everything. Everyone helped Harry, really, everyone who is sitting in the living room right now. They thought it would be perfect...but you kind of ruined their joy. I'm not saying that they hate you, London. They are just simply disappointed because their plan didn't work out the way they wanted it to be."

Her words sparked a realization inside me. Of course, Harry had been so afraid to tell me who he is, that they wanted to stand by his side, wanted to help him in his situation. And I had ruined everything with my reaction. I was to blame for everything...

"But, hey..." Her brown eyes looked at me sympathetically. "...I can understand why you reacted like this. We are the only two among all girlfriends who have never been, as much as they hate this word, 'famous' before. We are normal students, both having rich parents, but aren't in every single magazine you can get pretty much everywhere. If Louis would have told me after months of knowing eachother that he was a celebrity, I would have responded the same way."

Eleanor was so right. And suddenly I no longer felt so alone anymore. She had to go through the same thing I was yet to come. And I also realized that if I would have any questions or problems, I could always come to her. Because she was already in a relationship with Louis for a longer term and knowledgable in this area.

"But what should I do to make them like me?"

El gave me a reassuring smile. "Babe, they already like you, trust me. They just want to be sure that you are the right one for Harry and not someone who wants to disappoint him every now and then."

"Thank you," I gave her half of a smile.

"You are beautiful, you have to build up more self-confidence."

I felt the heat in my cheeks increase and before I could answer her, she took me back inside the living room by my hand.

All eyes turned to me and Eleanor, as we sat back on our old places. Harry was still frowning, looking at me, before carefully placing his large, warm hand back on my thigh. He probably noticed the wetness on my cheeks and the bloodshot white of my eyes.

"London is-" said his deep voice, but I interrupted him.

"Harry, I'm sorry that I'm Interrupting you, but I really have to say something to you guys," my eyes wavered to his friends, who were sitting across from us. "Eleanor has made something more clear to me with her words, she has told me in the hallway and I would really like to apologize. I didn't know that you have given so much trouble to help Harry..." I felt Harry's firm grip around my leg, but his gesture was pleasant. "... it was just so...weird...and unexpected to have a completely different person in front of me, who has spent several weeks being someone else. Would you understand that, please... And I know that I was stupid back then, because I know that Harry still is who he was when he wore thick glasses on his nose, gelling back his curls. He's still himself. I hope you forgive me..." The whole time I looked at the fluffy carpet that decorated Harry's living room until I finally for the first time raised my head to look them in the eyes.

I peeked at Niall, who grinned broadly, Zayn and Perrie, who had now locked their hands together, listening to me carefully. Liam's smile was the most pleasant, it shone a warmth that calmed me down a little. Finally, the ghost of a smile crept across my face as I peeked at Eleanor, who sat next to Louis, though it rather looked as if she would sit ontop of him. But a chuckle brought me out of my trance, I hadn't even noticed until then, triggered by someone whom I had least expected it from. Zayn.

Puzzled, I stared at him, and my mouth became dry. I was afraid that he made fun of me or found me ridiculous, because I had to apologize for something at the first meeting with Harry's friends. Nothing went as it was planned, but at least now I had convinced the majority of the people in the room of the fact that I really had no evil in mind.

"We have to thank you, London, because you gave us back the old Harry, who we had missed for a long time," and again he made me speechless, because everything he did or said, I had never expected from him, making me blush deeply.

"My pleasure," I laughed lightly. "I like this one much more than the rich superstar, to be honest." The room fell silent and I looked into Harry's wonderful, green eyes, seeing every detail in them.

For a moment it seemed as if we were alone in the room, while I stared at him speechless, until Niall started to laugh out loud.

"There ya have it," he cheered and I didn't know what else to do than laugh along.

The vibration that Harry sent through his body as he chuckled deeply, reached his hand, causing a warm shiver that ran down my back.

"What do we want to do?" Niall then asked, as he allowed himself to fall further behind into the brown pillows, picking with his nails at his blue snapback.

"Maybe we can go eat something, there's this nice restaurant the 5SOS boys were talking about, I think it's called 'ChinChaBoo' or something like that, weird name, but they said it's really good," Liam suggested.

The 5SOS guys? I don't know them ... probably more friends of the guys and Harry.

"Sounds good?" Harry raised his eyebrows before he looked down at me, causing my heart to beat faster just by looking at me.

"Uh-huh," I muttered, grinning at him happily.

Everything seemed to go well, to my happiness.

"Alright, let's go then...I bet they have a tv there, so we can show you a little video we made a while ago, where you will probably see Marcel for the last time...ever."
