26. Back Alley Attack

-Y/n's POV-

We were walking down the alley for a few minutes and took a few turns according to Native's GPS. I stopped walking for a moment when I thought I heard quiet mumbling around us. Native stopped dead in his tracks and turned his ear towards me.

After a moment I collected my thoughts, but just then, the shaking boom of numerous explosions shook me to my core and I didn't have time to properly process anything but a simple sentence said to me.

"Golem, get down!" Native yelled as he turned and threw his nightstick past me. I followed it with my eye but as I turned around three knives flew from down the darkened alley. One was about to stab me in the right arm above my elbow. I quickly formed a layer of rock so it bounced off, but not before cutting my arm faster then the stone could completely form. The second knife met the night stick in the air as both bounced away and the third knife landed in Native's shoulder.

Before I could even think a red and white blur had ran past me and pinned Native to the wall with one hand and licked his shoulder wound. Immediately Native dropped his throwing axe and went limp as he hung there. Suddenly more booms echoed in the distance.

"So noisy..." the man pinning Native said. "Those idiots must have come out already, huh?" he asked as he looked up at the sky, now filled with smoke and flames in the distance. "I disposed of them later." he said plainly as if it was a chore. "Right now..." he said, turning back to Native. "I will do what I sound be doing..." and started raising a slightly bloodied knife.

Before this guy could do something to Native I started to run at him with my fist raised. He quickly raised the knife to his mouth and licked it with a weirdly long tongue. As he did I swung, but my body stopped listening as my momentum carried me head over heels onto the ground.

"What!...what the fuck!?" I groaned out. I tried to move, but every inch of my body started screaming in pins and needles like it was asleep. I gasped as the man put a boot to my throat and I slumped back onto the ground. I hissed in pain as the spikes on his boots dug deep into the bottom of my jaw. What's happening? Is this his quirk? My eyes refocused as I looked up at the guy.

He had on a dark combat suit, plated with metal armor across his body, and holsters with all sorts of blades. The shirt was sleeveless, so he instead wraps his arms in old yellowing bandages, all the way from just below his shoulders to his wrists. His knees were protected with what looked like scrap metal pads. He also had a tattered red scarf and matching headband. It looked like a tattered cloth he was wearing around his face as a mask.

My eyes went wide as I looked up at him. It clicked in my head who this was. When I was helping Burnin with paperwork I read his description from his victims on the notices.

This was the Hero Killer: Stain.

"What...My body won't move! You..bastard, I'll...kill you!" Native strained out as it was muffled by Stain's hand.

"If you are really a hero, you should choose your last word much more carefully." Stain said as he put the knife in his belt and pulled out a small sword with a jagged, worn out edge that looked even more dangerous than a clean blade.

"Ahhhh!" someone yelled out as they ran into the scene. As Stain brought the blade up to Native he stopped and swung it at whoever was running in.

CLANG!

The sound of metal hitting metal rang out as Stain let go of Native and stepped back off of my neck. I look towards the sound of something hitting the ground as I see a familiar helmet land on the other side of the alley. That Iida's fucking helmet. I start whipping my head around as much as my screaming muscles will let me and I see Iida getting off the ground.

"Iida...!?" I whispered to myself. "Fucking...run man!" I tried to yell out, but it came out near silent as even my vocal cords felt numbed.

"A child wearing a suit?" Stain questions out loud. At the sound of his voice Iida whips his eyes to him. Iida's eyes looked wild and angry. "Go away. This is not a place for children."

"A scarf as red as blood, carrying blades all over your body..." Iida growled. "There's no doubt about it. You must be Stain! You are, aren't you?! I've been chasing after you!" What? Wait that's right Stain was the one that attacked his brother. "I did not think I would find you so soon!" Iida spat out. "I-!" Iida was shut up by Stain pointing his blade in his face.

"Your eyes...Are you here for vengeance?" Stain calmly asked him, looking at him with his head slightly turned. "Do be careful of what you say. Depending on the situation, even children may become my targets." As he says this Iida clenches his fist.

"Are you saying that I am...not even a target?" Iida asked, insulted. "Then listen, criminal! I am the younger brother of a hero you attacked." Iida started to stand as his voice started rising. "The younger brother of a most excellent older brother! I have come to stop you in his place!" Iida looked at the ground as he stood."Remember my name for as long as you live! Ingenium!" He said as looked Stain directly in the eye. "It is the name of the hero who will defeat you!"

"I see." Stain just stared at Iida for a moment with one eye.

"Die."

As soon as he said that Iida screamed as the pipes on his leg lit up and charged at Stain.

"Like I would!" Iida's kick completely missed as Stain jumped up from a standing position. The boot he had on my neck cut my chin as he spring boarded off the ground.

"Ingenium. You're brothers, then?" Stain asked Iida as he was over him. "In order to let news of me spread...I let him live." Stain then drove his spiked boot into Iida's shoulder, quickly drawing blood, and bringing his other foot down on Iida's head. "You're weak." Stain flipped the knife in his hand around and stabbed Iida in the back of his shoulder. Iida yelled out in both pain and anger.

"Iid--! Ingenium!" I shouted as I tried to move, but only managed to roll onto my stomach. The stone on my arm was still there. I don't think he disabled my quirk, like Aizawa, I'm just immobilized. I managed to get my right palm to touch the ground and made two spikes shot out on either side of Iida.

"Don't interrupt." Stain said as he jumped and then balanced on the tips of the spikes. He threw a knife that landed perfectly between the rocks around my hand and pierced it to the ground. I sucked in air through gritted teeth and let out a stream of curses as I tried, and failed, to get my hand off the ground as the feeling of pins and needles shot up my arm again.

"Now. Back to you." Stain said as he stepped back down onto Iida's back. "You and your brother are both weak. Because you are both fakes."

"Shut up, villain! He's paralyzed from the waist down due to spinal cord damage!" Iida said with tears starting to form. "He'll never be able to work as a hero again! He is an excellent hero who saved many people...until now...There was no reason for you to crush him like you did!" Iida started choking up. "He was the one who gave me my dream! I won't forgive you...I'll kill you!" Iida yelled up at Stain.

"How about you save him or your friend first?" Stain said as he pointed back at me and Native, but not looking at us. "Reflect on yourself and save others. Don't use your powers for yourself." As he started lecturing Iida, I started focusing on controlling the rock around my arms and legs. I started moving them to stand me up and I wasn't feeling as numb, but my hand stabbed to the ground shot some pain threw me. I grit my teeth and squeezed my hand and grabbed the concrete that the knife was in. I grabbed the knife with my other hand and ripped it out, closing the wound with stone. "Being taken by the hatred and trying to fulfill your own desires...That's the farthest thing from what a hero should be--" As he was distracted talking I flung the chunk of concrete as fast as my less numb arm and controlling the stone on it would let me. He jumped and licked his blade.

"How about...instead of lecturing us, Professor Flatface, you crawl back to whatever hole you slithered out of." I said as I stumbled to my feet and I put my hands up as best I could. It felt like moving through molasses mixed with sand.

"Oh, you're up already? No matter." He rushed at me and broke my stance easily with a leg sweep. He's fast. I think I'd have a hard time keeping up even if my limbs were listening.

"You'll both be an offering to a more just world." He said as he brought the tip of his sword to my throat. I nervously smirked.

"...How about offering of some pocket change like at church?" Stain silently glared harder somehow. "No?" Stain huffed.

"Goodbye." He reared his arm back and plunged down.

"SMAAAAASH!" Izuku came in and punched Stain in the check and sent him flying back. But instead of his arm breaking he flipped and landed on his feet. He had arcs of green electricity jumping off of him as the glowing veins on his hand receded.

"Holy hell how'd you finally manage to not break yourself?" I asked Izuku from the ground.

"I'm like a taiyaki in a microwave!"

"...Run that by me again?"

"Not now! I came to save you!" He said as he looked at Stain, who stayed on his feet from the hit, down the alley.

"Midoriya? How?" Iida asked.

"They talked about it on the TV. That sixty percent of the hero killer's victims were found in places without many people." Izuku explained. "That's why I searched away from the center of the commotion in the alleyways near the Normal Hero Agency. I searched them all one by one!"

"Normal Agency?" I asked as I slowly got up. "We're not even in Endeavour's Agency's jurisdiction then. What the hell Native?" I ask as he was still slumped on the wall. He just turned his head away.

"That doesn't matter now. Can you two move? Let's get to a bigger street. We need help from the pros." Izuku quickly planned, glancing between Iida and Stain.

"I can't...move my body..." Iida groaned out.

"I couldn't before either, but feeling's coming back quick." I said, shaking the last of the pins and needles from my hand. Shaking it caused the hole in my hand to open again as blood seeped out from the cracks in the stones. "It was after he licked a knife that he nicked me with. His quirk is paralyzing with blood or something."

"You're bleeding!" Izuku exclaimed looking at my arm.

"It'll be fine. I still got a good hand." I said leading my stance with my left hand. "Like you said we gotta worry about getting out in the open, but first we have to get Native." I nod to Native, who is still unable to move. Unfortunately Stain is between us and him.

"There's someone else!" Izuku exclaimed as he realized. "I can try to carry Iida, if you are able to carry them." Izuku whispered to me as Stain got ready to charge.

"Midoriya...Y/n...Don't get involved. This has nothing to do with you!" Iida said, while laying face down on the pavement.

"Oh shut up!" I spat as I glanced down at Iida. "I was already involved before you showed up. Either way, like hell I'm abandoning you to this freak. And for christ's sake you two, we have our codenames now for a reason, so use them."

"Your friends want to save you and all you want is some revenge you can not carry out by yourself.." Stain interjected. "Their actions would hold more merit if they weren't going to die with you...If we clash, of course the weaker will be culled." As Stain said that I could feel the killing intent wash over me with overwhelming pressure. Izuku took a small step back as he felt it too. "Now, what will you do?" Stain looked me in the eye as he said that, there was nothing besides contempt in his gaze. A hate. Whether it was at me or him imagining me turning tail and running, I could not tell you. What I did next, was probably not the reaction I think he had in mind.

I swallowed the lump in my throat, took a deep breath to steel my nerves, raised my bleeding right hand, and flipped him off.

"Fuck off you spooky bastard, I can tell you were a theater kid in school, weren't you?"

There was a thick silence over everyone now as both Iida and Izuku looked at me like I'd gone mad. Honestly I might have at this point.

"Y/n-I mean Golem, we need to stall for time." Izuku whispered to me. I was confused at first, but then saw him slip his phone back into his belt. He must have quickly signaled someone. I nod my head and face Stain.

"Stop it! Run away!" Iida shouts as Izuku and I prepare to charge Stain. "I told you, didn't I? This has nothing to do with you!"

"If you say that, then heroes can't do anything!" Izuku shouts. "Th...There are a lot of things I'd like to say, but I'll say them later. But it's like what All Might said...Meddling when you don't need to..." I smirked as Izuku recited what All Might said to us that day.

"Is the essence of being a hero." I finished the quote. As we said this Stain looked surprised and suddenly he had a sickening grin on his face.

Izuku rushed at Stain first with me close behind, but Izuku closed the gap much faster. His training must have paid off. As Stain started to swing his blade to the side I remembered one of the few things Endeavor actually bothered to teach me.

"If you are slow to accelerate, never stop moving. You must always be three steps ahead, smoothly transitioning from one move to another."

As Izuku got close to Stain, Stain grabbed another blade in his right hand, Izuku then crouched down to slide under his legs and get behind him. Stain will swing at Izuku behind him as he is closer and that'll leave him open in the front.

As I charged I hardened the stone on my arm until it started to turn black and glossy and dug my left shoulder down to go for an uppercut with the new technique I got from Burnin's training.

Stain swung backwards, but Izuku jumped upwards and went for a punch above. His movements were near perfect to what Bakugo did to him in the the battle trials.

"Five Percent Detroit Smash!" Izuku yelled as green energy arced off of him and the veins in his arm visible glowed a sparkling bright red.

"Actum Ferrum!" I shouted as obsidian spines came out of my forearm in a line and jet black stone covered the now razor sharp tips of my fingers minus my thumb. Stain narrowly avoided both hits and in doing so made our attacks clash, making a shockwave blow through the alley. Stain was thrown backwards into the alley wall and turned mid air, landing on the wall with his feet, he kicked off of the wall and hung from a fire escape above us. Izuku and I were blasted backward. I slid to a stop in front of Iida and Izuku flipped and landed close to Native.

Stain, while hanging from the fire escape, licked the smaller blade he pulled as before and Izuku fell to the ground. Damn it he glazed him at some point.

"Not powerful enough." Stain said as he dropped down and started walking towards Iida and I. "Not only were you predictable, as one got out of my line of sight the other charged head on, neither of you were powerful enough to actually take me down. People who all talk are a dime a dozen."

As he walked I stomped my foot down and multiple spikes shot out of the walls and floor. As Stain jumped in the air I jumped too and used my momentum to flip and extend my leg out to reverse bicycle kick him down. Stain quickly turned in the air and used the same knife he grazed Izuku with to stab me in the leg as it came down. For a moment I could have sworn my vision burst with color and lights, but the pain made me forget in an instant.

Stain spring bordered off of me again as he licked the knife and I managed to avoid my own spikes. I tried to stand, but faltered and fell to my knees as Stain licked the blade.

"But you two seem to be worthy of living." He said as he walked towards Iida's still prone body. "You're different from these guys. These pretenders."

"Damn it...Stop it!" Izuku yelled at Stain. Stain didn't reply as he brought his blade to Iida's throat and raised it up. "STOP IT!" Izuku frantically begged.

As Stain brought the blade down the alley suddenly lit up and a gout of flame flew right above Iida, making Stain jump to dodge it.

"One after another..." Stain grumbled. "There are too many people getting in my way today."

I looked down the alley and saw a silhouette lit up by his own flames. Todoroki has joined the fight.

"Midoriya. You need to give more details in times like this." He said as he held up his phone with Izuku's message, that was just a map location. "You made me late."

"Hey, give the guy some credit. Look at what we're dealing with here." I said with a stained smirk.

"Nevertheless Y/n, my sister wanted me to invite you to eat with us again. She would be very sad if you ended here." He said not looking away from Stain.

"...Why the fuck does no one use our damn codenames, but me." I grumbled.

(Hey yall, thank you so much sticking with this story, even with the abysmal hiatuses that have popped up. As always, let me know what you think! Peace!)
