[The Alola Region, Professor Kukui's Place. 5AM]

Writer's POV

Narrator: "Our Hero Ash had trouble sleeping last night after his strange incident. He had a feeling that Island Kahuna Hala could help shed some light on this situation as he was an older and wiser person than Ash himself was"

The weather looked clear as always. So Ash got up from bed and got ready without telling anyone at all. Before He left, he placed a small note on Professor Kukui's coffee table that read: "I'm off to Hala's place. will be back soon"

"I probably should leave pikachu asleep too. he doesn't look like he'd be ready to wake up so early in the morning." Ash said to himself as he picked up his backpack and opened the main door of the house, while looking at his sleeping yellow buddy Pikachu.

Ash knew that Kahuna Hala was a morning person and probably must be meditating or something this early in the morning. So he wasn't hesitant at all.

The sky was clear that day and the morning breeze helped ash relax as he took deep breaths on his way alone to Hala's place. The soft streaks of light emerging from the horizon added to the beauty of the Island. 

Just a few minutes later, Ash heard a noise come from a tree making him feel as if someone or something was spying on him.

"Who's there? Show yourself!" Ash yelled towards the forest thinking someone would emerge. Suddenly, some bushes moved, but it was actually just a Rattata looking for berries in there.

"Oh. I must be getting paranoid. I do feel much safer with Pikachu around... Anyways, i should continue" Ash said to himself, looking at the small Rattata. He then continued on his way.

Suddenly out of the forest, three team skull grunts emerged and stood in Ash's way."Look! it's that same brat!" One of the grunts exclaimed. "And he doesn't have that electric rat with him this time!" The other grunt pointed out as he noticed Ash was not with his Pikachu at that moment.

"You're going to pay for what you did to us last time, punk!" the first grunt said, implying they were the same grunts Ash met days ago when he was doing deliveries with Kiawe.

"What do i do? i haven't brought Pikachu or Rowlet with me. This is bad!" Ash said to himself realizing that he was going to be beaten badly by the Team Skull grunts.

"Go garbodor! Make him pay for what he did to us!" one of the grunts exclaimed as he chose a Pokemon so he could teach Ash a 'lesson'. The Garbador quickly approached Ash, and was about to attack him.

Before the Grunt's Garbodor could reach ash, A loud voice get's heard.

"Rowwww!" 

It was Rowlet, and he launched Garbodor in the air with a firm tackle attack as he swooped in from the forest trees and struck the Pokemon about to attack his trainer. Garbador landed on the the grunts, making them fall on the ground.

"Rowlet! how did you know?" Ash said to Rowlet in a relieved tone. He was obviously relieved to see Rowlet come to rescue him."Rowwww!" (I saw you leave so i followed you) Rowlet replied, as he raised one of his wings.

"Okay, Rowlet! let's show them what we've been training for the past few days!" Ash said as his Rowlet got in full battle-ready position.

"Okay, Here we GO!" Ash exclaimed as he tapped on his Z-ring so Rowlet could perform a Z-move

"Oh no! not this again!" The grunts said in unison when they say the light come out of Ash's        z-ring.

"Go! This is everything we've got! Breakneck Blitz!" Ash yelled as He and Rowlet did the pose for the normal Z- move 'Breakneck Blitz'

Rowlet landed a direct hit and sent the Grunts flying away.

"We won't forget about this time either!" The grunts said as they flew away.

*Twinkle*

"Wow, Rowlet keeps on getting stronger and stronger" Ash said to himself after witnessing Rowlet's increasing power. Rowlet returned and landed on Ash's head like he always loves to. But this time, Rowlet wasn't wiped out after using a z-move like he usually does.

"I'd want you to return to your Pokeball, Rowlet. but i think i didn't bring it" Ash says to Rowlet in a silly manner. Rowlet then quickly jumps off of Ash's Head and then goes into his backpack. 

"Oh right! you like resting in my backpack. I guess it could be called a temporary pokeball" Ash said to Rowlet, who was just loving the backpack.

"Okay, let's go. I have something important to take care of!" Ash said to Rowlet as he continued on his way to Hala's place. After a minute or so, Ash finally arrived at Hala's. 

Ash's POV

(In thoughts) "Finally, i've arrived at Hala's place. I do hope he can enlighten me on what was it that I heard last night. what could be the meaning of it? I know it wasn't a bad dream. It just couldn't be a dream! I know I heard that voice. Is someone in trouble?"  I said to myself as thoughts and questions started to rush through my brain. I hope I wasn't losing my sanity.

(In thoughts) "I should just knock, I guess"  I thought as I knocked on the front door. Shortly after, Kahuna Hala opened the door. 

"Oh Ash it's you. what brings you here so early in the morning?" Kahuna Hala asked me as he seemed rather surprised to see me at such a time."I need your help with a particular situation, Kahuna Hala" I replied to Hala, in a bit of an anxious tone."Oh, Okay come in." Hala said as he invited me in his house. He then told me to sit down and explain what I needed his help with.

"You see, Kahuna Hala, I heard a strange noise last night. It sounded like someone was screaming 'No!' near me. i woke up and couldn't find anyone there. Professor kukui thinks it was a bad dream but the voice felt so real it couldn't be a bad dream. it doesn't feel like it" I said as I briefly explained the situation to Kahuna Hala in hopes that he would have any idea about what might have happened.

"Hmm.. Interesting." Kahuna Hala responded in a calm manner as if he had an idea about it."So do you know what it could be?" I asked Hala without any sort of hesitation at all.

"I'm not completely sure about this. you'll have to tell me more about this voice you heard, Ash. Only then I might be able to give a precise answer" Hala said to me, after thinking for a while.

"I-I don't exactly know. It's a foggy memory" I replied to Hala since i couldn't clearly recall who the voice belonged to at all."So we must make that memory clear. come with me, Ash" Hala said to me as he got up. I felt rather confused at first but since Hala is a wise person, he surely must have some clue as to what it is. So I just followed his orders.

Hala took me to the same place where we prayed to the guardian diety Tapu Koko a few days ago before we started our Island grand trial battle together. 

"Now. Sit down quietly and listen... try to listen to your thoughts... your memories... concentrate on that particular moment when you heard that voice." kahuna Hala instructed me to meditate as it was a good way to clear my mind and focus.

I sat quietly with my eyes closed as I continuously kept thinking about that voice. replaying it in my memory for a while. but then suddenly i realized who that voice belonged to! It was Serena!

"I know! I remember that voice, Kahuna! it belongs to my friend Serena!" I exclaimed as I told Hala who the voice belonged to."Very good, Ash. You finally cleared your thoughts and now know who that voice belongs to. Very well done!" Kahuna Hala said to me, as he got up.

"Now, tell me. Was the voice of your friend sound like she was in some sort of pain or suffering?" Hala said to me with a curious tone. 

"Yes, Kahuna. it sounded like Serena was in a lot of pain! What does it mean?" I asked Hala desperately as i started to get worried about Serena. "If I must think of the worst possible case, your friend might be in some sort of trouble. Do you know of her whereabouts, Ash?" Hala replied to me as his voice started to sound even more curious.

"Actually, I don't know where she is exactly. Last time I saw her she was off to the Hoenn Region alone." I said as I informed Hala in a worried tone. I felt like I needed to do something about this. Serena could be in serious trouble right now. I couldn't just do nothing about it!

"So what will you do, ash? Hoenn isn't exactly next door" Hala said to me as he had no idea what needed to be done to confirm Serena is safe.

"I know what i need to do, Kahuna Hala. I WILL do what needs to be done!" I said to Hala as I just got an old feeling of someone inside of me. Someone connected to me. That someone just agreed... to help me...

*Freeze Frame*

Narrator: "After telling Kahuna Hala about the situation and finally realizing that the mysterious cry for help belonged to Serena, Ash had his strange powers within him awakened as he just gotten in contact with his Greninja, his Pokemon that was now in the Kalos Region. Will Ash cut his journey in the Alola Region short so he can rescue Serena? What will Greninja do in order to save Serena? Find out! as the Journey Continues!"
