Chapter 3: That Book
||
~No one's POV~

Namjoon quickened his pace avoiding any type of interaction with his batchmates. He even heard one of them call him from behind but all he wanted now was peace.
"Good Afternoon Mrs. Bae." He greeted the librarian and she smiled at him warmly.
"Kim Namjoon. What took your time today? I was worried you didn't show up." She asked concernedly.
"I am completely fine. Just I forgot my textbook in my class, so I went to take it." Namjoon explained.
Mrs Bae smiled, visibly relieved and Namjoon went to his usual seat.
Taking out the book he wanted, he sat down but one thing kept nagging him.
Namjoon didn't forget his textbook. He lied.
The truth was that today there was a slight commotion in the cafeteria, one that seemed unimportant and insignificant but somehow he felt it was something more than that.

"Then how did this break? On its own?" Mr Lee shouted in the cafeteria.
Namjoon turned at the word 'break' but then he remembered he hasn't broken anything in the cafeteria. At least not today.
All students gathered around the people.
Only some students stayed in their seats, while everyone swarmed around the student and professor.
"Sir it was a mistake!" The voice was a male voice, and the thing that broke was Mr Lee's trophy for something he won years ago.
A chair shifted behind Namjoon's table, but only he could hear it as the students were busy with Mr Lee and his Trophy.
"Whatever it was, I need it repaired until this evening. Got it?" The student nodded furiously and Mr Lee dismissed everyone.
All this time Namjoon was pretending to read the book but now he felt uneasy.
"If he wanted to scold him, he could have scolded him in his office. Why did he create such a big commotion? He even let that boy go." Namjoon spoke softly, trying to piece it together.
"Aish, I should stop reading Sherlock Holmes." He shook his head and concentrated back on his book.
Namjoon took out his glasses and the cloth to clean them when he noticed a boy staring at him. Unblinkingly.
Namjoon angled the glasses so that he could see who the boy was.
One thing was for sure, the boy wasn't in his college. Because if he was he wouldn't even notice Namjoon's presence. Namjoon was the one who kept to the shadows, he never once got into the spotlight. Though he was the topper he usually kept his world to books.
"Maybe he is just interested in the book I'm reading." Namjoon reasoned to himself as he put his glasses back inside.
He glanced at his watch.
"Damn." He cursed under his breath as he packed up his things. He was fifteen minutes late. The sole reason is his overthinking self who is theorizing everything around him.
As he left the cafeteria, he glanced in the direction of that boy.
He was still staring.

~Flashback ends~
||
"Namjoon-ah you better give a pause on Sherlock Holmes stories." Namjoon scolded himself as his thoughts kept getting clogged by the cafeteria incident.
Namjoon knew this was just a gut instinct. He knew he shouldn't give much thought to this. But he also knew something was weird.
Shrugging the thoughts away he decided to ignore them.
The book he picked soon got all his attention and he got lost in it.
He didn't notice the library door opening.
He didn't notice the same boy from the cafeteria walking in.
He didn't notice the boy sitting three tables away from him, discreetly observing him.
But he did notice that the book he had taken had a piece of paper tucked in it. He quietly kept the book back in its place, thinking it might be a bookmark and he can't disturb it.
"Let's find another copy then." He glanced around the library.
His gaze landed on the boy from the cafeteria, but he couldn't recognize him as the boy had now traded his black hoodie for some loose tee. His hair was now tucked into a cap and he wore round glasses that changed his complete look.
Namjoon began searching for another copy of the book. But try as he might, he couldn't find any.
The boy from the cafeteria adjusted his spectacles, turning his earpiece on in the action.
"Jungkook-ah. That book has only one copy. Take that letter and come back. Nothing. Else. Over." A boy said from the other side.
"I know Hyung. I'll be outside in a few minutes. Over and Out." Jungkook hung up and walked to the book on the shelf. In one fluid motion, he flipped through the pages and took out the paper, swiftly tucking it in his pant pocket. Returning the book to its place, he adjusted his spectacles once more and walked out.
Namjoon finally contented himself with another book, completely oblivious to his surroundings.
On the other hand, Jungkook kept walking to get out of the library. He saw a girl walking in front with a bunch of books.
He didn't turn.
They both kept walking, pretending to look anywhere but in the front, and obviously, collided.
From some unseen powers, Namjoon had a sudden urge to look at the second commotion for today.
The girl's books and papers flew everywhere and Jungkook bent down to help her pick them up. He slipped that piece of paper into her hand and piled the books and papers for her to pick.
"Kamsamnida." The girl bowed slightly.
"Aniya, no need. I'm Jungkook, are you new?" Jungkook asked.
"Y/N, and yes I transferred here three months ago," Y/N answered curtly and after a small talk she walked away, as Jungkook did the same. Both of them walked in the opposite directions, their missions successful.
Namjoon was observing the two. He could sense by their body language that they were giving a false impression of being strangers because the signs were exactly the same. As if they were trained to show fake personas. One more unsettling thing in his life.
"Why does this always have to be me?" He shook his head, trying to forget those events.
How he wished he could forget things just like everyone else does.
But it seems his memories love him way too much, to the point that they hurt him.
But as they say, Diamonds are beautiful but deadly. The tighter you hold to keep them close, the more they hurt.

~Somewhere else~

"I gave the second paper to Y/N. The other one is with me." Jungkook put the other piece of paper in his pocket. "I want my Mc'Donalds now. Over and Out." Jungkook said in his earpiece as he walked out of the building.
Jimin took out his earpiece as Jungkook came into view. He went to the back of the building where the cameras didn't quite cover the whole view. After doing his job he came back to the car and they both drove away.
"Is Y/N directly coming to the mansion?" Jungkook asked.
"She is already there." Jimin said as if it was nothing new.
"What else can you expect." Jungkook mumbled and Jimin laughed.
They parked the car and walked inside the mansion. Y/N was as usual waiting in the living room with two other boys.
"Guys. I have news. You won't like it."
