Chapter 29: Rain

~No one's POV~

"I came back. You won't welcome me?"
Y/N sat up abruptly in her bed. Her heartbeat thumped in her ears as she tried to calm her breathing.
"Just a nightmare. Just. A. Nightmare." Y/N said sternly to herself. "You've been through worse."
But try as she might, her heart won't just stop racing. Her hands won't just stop sweating. And her ears won't just stop straining.
To hear his voice.
But it was nothing like the caramel-coated sound she was used to hearing. Ten years had passed but she could still recall that soothing sound perfectly.
This? That caramel coat was gone. It was just a hollow sound that reminded you of that monster under your bed.
However bad her emotional state was, Y/N kept her calm facade on and walked out of her room. Without knocking, she directly entered the only person's room she could think of.
Jimin.
"Jimin..." Y/N whispered softly, and at once all the lights were turned on revealing a frantic Jimin hurriedly loading his gun.
"Hey calm the fuck down nothing happened!" Y/N placed a hand on the gun and Jimin visibly relaxed exhaling a breath.
"Then why did you freak me out like that I nearly died!" Jimin said, dramatically clutching his heart.
"That's your fault pabo." Y/N rolled her eyes and sat on the edge of the bed. Jimin too sat beside her taking her hand in his.
"Now talk." He asked.
And she did.
"The dreams. They are back." Y/N whispered softly. Jimin nodded slowly asking her to continue.
"My own mind is against me. I thought the hallucinations would be real, like in Twilight, but damn, I was wrong."
"I told you to keep plushies in your room. But no, you keep them away as if they physically burn you." Y/N hit Jimin on the hand playfully.
"What? I'm telling the truth!" Jimin defended himself.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever." Y/N rolled her eyes.
Jimin got up and pulled out the makeshift bed he always had in his room for similar situations. He knows Y/N is the silent type, and for comfort, she only needs someone's presence. Whenever she got nightmares she always came to him because he too faces similar problems, but at a different scale.
"Goodnight Jimin." Y/N yawned as she slipped into the covers, folding her legs and making herself as small as possible, the way she always does.
"Goodnight Y/N-ie." Jimin sighed softly before he gave in to sleep.
Both slept soundly and quietly because when the next two nightmares struck, Y/N woke up knowing very well that she had Jimin with her.

Jungkook woke up groggily to a series of knocks on his door.
No, not knocks.
The person was literally banging his door open and the second Jungkook realized this, he got up immediately, already into training mode.
Jungkook opened the door, ready to eradicate the issue when he came face to face with Taehyung.
"YOU?!"
"Yes me, now don't ask anything I swear I didn't want to come upstairs but it's urgent!" Taehyung dragged Jungkook out of his room while Jungkook tried not to kill Taehyung with his bare hands.
He soon thanked himself for not committing murder, when he saw Jin in the living room pacing back and forth restlessly.
"What happened?" Jungkook directly asked Jin.
"There was a call. From the kidnappers." Jin said in a broken voice. Jungkook's eyes widened at the news.
"They have told us to keep away from...Choi Giho. Or else..." Jin took a ragged breath. "Please...Joonie is too innocent for this...I...I have to save him..."
Jungkook slowly went near Jin and placed a hand on his shoulder, an action that surprised both of them.
"We will save him. Because this is getting way too deep." Jungkook turned to Taehyung. "Go and call Jimin Hyung. He will get everyone, and he probably won't kill you."
Taehyung went upstairs hurriedly, already screaming at the top of his lungs. However, as soon as he entered the hallway and the doors closed, everywhere was silence.
This time, Jin decided to ask Jungkook. "The floor is soundproof, right?"
"Yes." Jungkook sighed. "You really don't wanna know what happens there, and in the basement."
Jin wiped a stray tear on his cheeks as he again glanced at the floor. He soon heard footsteps and everyone was coming downstairs.
"Did you record it?" Y/N asked sharply as soon as she came in front of Jin.
"Yes." Jin handed her his phone with the recording and Y/N listened to it closely.
"You must be missing me, right? Don't worry, we are alive, and so is your brother. Until now. But not for long if you keep poking your nose everywhere. So, let's change our deal. If you agree to leave this whole place, no connections with any of these people, and absolutely no search for Choi Giho, we can give you your brother back. Or else, how much does a funeral cost anyway?"
Y/N sighed deeply before handing the phone back to Jin.
"Yoongi Oppa. Check for the location of this device. They sound so fucking confident, there must be one mistake. Find it." Y/N got up quickly, dialing a number on her phone.
Yoongi nodded and made his way upstairs to his room. He had a lot to work on now.
"It's freaking 3 am in the morning, whom are you calling now?" Hoseok asked.
"Maria," Y/N answered swiftly before going down into the basement.
Now only Jin, Jimin, Jungkook, Taehyung, and Hoseok remained in the living room. The five stood awkwardly not knowing what to speak or do. Finally, Taehyung broke the tension.
"Even when this rain stops when the clouds go away...
I stand here, just the same...
Without saying anything, looking at the world...
There, a not so beautiful me is looking at myself...
In this rain...
In this rain..."
Taehyung recited softly.
"What was that?" Jimin said in wonder.
"Namjoon Hyung wrote this. It is about rain, who is your best friend who knocks on your door and asks you if you are okay. He always loved the rain." Taehyung said wistfully.
But Jimin's brain was cluing other pieces together. He walked in the direction of the basement, leaving the others alone.
Passing all the doors he found the one he was looking for, Library.
Jimin entered the room and made a straight beeline toward the fantasy section of the whole library. There he found Y/N, hunched over a big directory of the country.
"Y/N, I know how we can rescue Namjoon," Jimin said excitedly.
"Wha- How?" Y/N asked putting all her focus on Jimin.
"He loves the rain. And fortunately, we don't need actual rain to send messages. We don't even need rain, just drain." Jimin said and Y/N furrowed her eyebrows.
"Spill." Y/N leaned her hands on the table.
"Taehyung said Namjoon loves the rain. The nature. With rain, I heard drain, so if whenever Namjoon is kept has a bathroom, we can find his location-"
"-and we can send him the plan, through codes." Y/N finished and both of them looked up. A small hope was growing in their hearts, but one doubt remained.
"Does he know codes?" Y/N asked.
"I don't know, but he loves poems for sure," Jimin replied in the affirmative.
"Guess it's time to take out my pens." Y/N sighed.
Poems were not her thing.
It was his life.
