CHAPTER 8

I continue scanning the faces when all of a sudden, I notice everyone staring at me, and I hear the sound of someone clearing their throat in front of me.

"Ehmm... Miss? Everything alright?"
I turn around to face a stern looking Mr Anderson. He looks down at me with annoyance as I just disturbed the whole class.

What a great first day!

"I'm sorry sir. I was just..." I trail off, not knowing what to say.

"Sit down and don't repeat it again!" He barks, and then resumes class. My cheeks blush red from embarrassment.

My mind just won't stop pestering me after this. It drives me nuts as to who could have written that note! None of the faces hold any sign of acknowledgement of the note, but I have to find out.

"Amy! Class is done. Time to leave," says Phoebe, nonchalantly as she packs up her stuff.

"Oh yeah. Let me just get my stuff. You go ahead. I'll meet you downstairs." I suggest, to which she nods in response. As I watch her leave, turning at the door and disappear, I notice that I'm not the only one in the room. At the far corner of the class, I spot a person and with some adjustments, manage to get a clearer view. It's the blonde guy from earlier!

"Hey!" He says, taking big strides towards me and wearing a killer smile highlighting his dimple. He halts beside me.

"Uhmm... Hey." I manage a weak smile.

"The name's Silver! Silver Rigoro!" He finishes with a wink. "And you are?" He asks, leaning a bit towards me.

"Oh. Nice to meet you, Silver! I'm Amy Ross!" I mutter, now blushing unknowingly.

"That's a pretty name for a pretty face." He retorts, with a "classic player smirk" on his face.

"Oh, quit the flattering." I say, swatting his hand playfully, giggling. He just laughs to that. "Wait, did you throw the note?" I ask, curiosity getting the better of me again.

"What note?" He states, utterly confused. I focus on his expression to catch any sign of pretense, but guess what? There is none! He looks genuinely confused. So, not him!

"Oh... It's nothing. I'm getting late. I'll see you later?" I try and excuse myself to avoid further questions from him.

"Yeah okay, but just so you know, even I have to walk downstairs." He states with a chortle, his chocolate brown eyes sparkling and his cute dimples clearly exposed, adding on to his cuteness.

"Oh... Yeah... Let's go?" I bob my head towards the door sheepishly, looking at the floor.

"Lead mi lady!" He bows down dramatically, causing me to erupt in laughter at his adorable antics.

"My friends are over there. I gotta go. So see ya!" I coo out, waving at him as he smiles and waves back at me.

'Yay! A good start,' I think to myself as I walk towards Natty, standing with a few girls surrounding her.

"Natty! Where's Phoebe?" I wonder looking around. "She said she'll be waiting."

"Oh... She left as her driver came along to get her. She wanted me to tell you this, and left her books with me for you." She says as she hands me a couple of books.

"Thanks Natty!" I beam at her, and almost immediately scrunch as I get weighed down by the books. "Heavy!" I exclaim as I forcefully stuff them into my bag and pull out my phone.

"So, how you going Ams!? Want a drop?" Natty asks.

"Oh... That won't be needed. Dad's coming." I chirp looking up from the message screen.

Hey dear! Dad's coming to get you.

Mom!<3

"Anyway, thank you!" I flash her a smile.

"Dad's here. I gotta go!" I yell, as I hear the very familiar sound of the horns of dad's car. I quickly hug Natty and run in the opposite direction as I spot the car.

"Hey dear! How's the place?" Dad pulls me into a hug and pecks on my cheeks.

No smell or trace of alcohol! Wow, that's a first.

"Great dad. I like it here." I animatedly exclaim.

"That's amazing sweetie. So I have a surprise for you!" He giggles and looks at me, with a glint of happiness in his eyes, making him look younger and handsome.

"Oh oh oh! Daddy! That's great. Wait, a new phone?" I ask, jumping up and down in the car seat out of excitement.

"OK OK OK... Sit down. Sit down." He says, giving me the "stop acting like a kid" look . I calm down and sit quietly for the rest of the ride.

"We're home!" He says, bursting my thought bubble. I never realize that, cause all along the ride I tried hard at guessing what the surprise was, but failed!

"Mom! Hey!" I beam as I gallop towards her and engulf her in a crushing hug.

"Ok ok Relax. Looks like dad already told you!" She grins, trying to get loose of my grip. It looks really cute that I can't hold back the grin.

"No. He didn't!" I pout, trying to put on my best sad-face.

"Awwh honey! Just go upstairs and get dressed! We're going out for dinner." She chimes with extreme happiness.

"That's amazing. I'll be back!" I say and run upstairs in a sprint.

The happiness that reflected in her eyes, are enough to make my days for a week! She's happy again after a long time. This always happened, they fight, end up not talking for days and then get back to normal. No matter how much we try, the fights are inevitable, but the happiness after that brings some light into our lives. So might as well let something happen!

I run upstairs quickly, and put on my glittery black dress that goes a little above my knees. I quickly dab on some makeup, a little bit of blush and apply some lip gloss.

I check my reflection and I surprise myself. Not only do I look good, but the natural beam of my smile enhances the overall look. I'm extremely happy for many reasons. Mom being happy is the foremost one! A happy family again, maybe for a short time, but nevertheless...

"Let's go? Wait! Where's John?" I ask, noticing that the house is real quite.

"Oh... Honey, we wanted to tell you this. John's at his late practice and will take him a while. So we were wondering, you know..." My mom trails off.

"Mom! Don't tell me after all this dressing up, I'm not going!" I yell, and then exhale deeply.

"Oh honey, You look beautiful!" Mom walks in my direction and plants a kiss on my forehead. "Off course you'll come. Just that, you'll have to drive John to the restaurant in my car." Mom says with a pat on my back. Her smile falls as she anticipates my answer.

"Awwh mom! That's fine. We'll join in later on. You guys go ahead." I encourage mom, with a tug as I know that she's brimming with happiness. I can't ruin that.

"Bye honey. Lock up and open only if you're sure its John," instructs mom as she and dad head out the into the drive and get into the car. With one last kiss my way, they are gone. The street is deserted now.

I shut the door, and decide to just catch up on some television until John comes home. I switch on the television and quickly run into the kitchen to grab some snacks. I return with a bowl of cheese popcorn, turn off the lights and comfortably settle myself on the couch. I surf channels to finally settle on 'The Conjuring' on HBO.

It is dark as hell, eery silence enveloping the air around the room, making it thick and my heart on a race, with my heartbeat being the only sound, and my eyes glued to screen as darkness fills the screen.

*knock knock knock*

That startles me to no end, the popcorn in my lap flying and raining on the floor around me as I just shriek loud and quickly run and switch on the lights, panting as if I'd run a marathon. I look around and realize the knocking was from the screen.

Woah! That was scary!

I make a mental note to never watch horror movies without the lights on when am alone! Being alone adds to the horror effect already.

*Knock knock knock*

"Aghhh!" I scream as that breaks the silence yet again. Then I realize it was from the door and must be John!

"John! Thank god your home! Change up quickly and let's leave!" I order John, pushing him to the bathroom.

"Yeah okay!" He groans and drags himself upstairs.

After about 15minutes, he finally appears at the top of the stairs. He looks good- dressed in a white shirt with blue jeans and black leather jacket.

"Ready to leave!? I'll just grab my wallet and the keys!" I say as I run to the refrigerator. I grab the keys and take a quick look at myself in the mirror before hurrying off to the door. John's already in front of the car.

I get into the car, buckle up and start the ignition. The engine does not start! Great! I try various other things and finally frustrated at my failed attempts, I get out of the car and kick hard on the car.

"Arghhh!"

A terrible decision, I realize immediately as I feel a jolt of pain shoot right through my foot causing me to shriek.

"Ouuuccccchhh owewwww oweew." I start yelling and jumping on one foot which seems to entertain John for some reason. He starts laughing hysterically!

"Shut the owe hell u-up owe John!" I stammer as I try to walk up to him and shut him up.

"Ok ok... Ha.. Sorry Ams... Hahah" he stutters in between laughs. "Let's get you to sit down." He takes me back into the house.

"Mom! The car's not starting and Am-"

"Give me the phone!" I yell, trying to snatch it away from him.

"Alright! Alright! Geez!" He retorts as hands me the phone.

"Mom! The car's dead and so is my foot. How are we gonna make it there? And now, I ain't interested to go out also. We'll just eat at home." I say with a frown, unaware of the fact that she cannot see it.

"Uh... Fine honey. We'll get you guys food. Take care of the feet. Put an ice bag or something." Mom tries to comfort me.

"Mom! No, you guys eat. We'll just order pizza." I say and flinch at the shrill, ecstatic scream of John that pierces my ears.

"Okay kids. We'll be back soon," with that, the line drops dead. Mom gave up on stopping us from our bad eating habits.

"Bye mom!" I beam and disconnect. "John, call up and order pizza. Anything you like but with loads of cheese!" I blurt as I run upstairs to change.

After about half hour, the door bell rings.

"I'll get it"

"Your pizza! That would b-" says the cute pizza delivery guy as I open the door.

"Be?? How much?" I ask with a grin as I catch him ogling at me. He snaps out and looks down at the floor with a guilty smile.

Adorable! I internally giggle.

"That would be $12.50." He says with a blush line across his cheeks, now evident.

"Sure, and what's in the pizza?" I ask, coming up with something just not wanting to let him go, and internally groan at the best I can come up with.

"Oh... You don't know? You ordered it, right?" He asks, squinting his eyes.

"Oh. Nope! My bro did." I reply with a smile.

"Oh... Okay! It's goat cheese and sun-dried tomato." He says smiling, as he looks into the bill.

"Okay. Grea-"

"Amy! Where the hell you? Stop flirting with the pizza guy, will ya?"

I turn crimson red at that statement, and try hard to cover my face.

Arrgh that idiot! I'm gonna kill him today.

I look up and find him grinning from ear to ear, and a goofy smile pasted on his face as he catches my eyes.

"Here!" I hand over the cash and with a goofy grin, pull back and shut the door.

Idiot me! I slammed the door on his face. I just sigh and head back in.

"You just can't shut up, right? You idiot!" I fling myself at him and slap him left and right. I looked like a tomato there!"

"Ouch... Ouh... Ok... sorry. O-ouch..." He mutters as I continue my assault on him. Quickly in defense, he also starts hitting me. In a matter of minutes, we're both tugging at each other smacking hard at which ever part is exposed.

The fight ends when after about ten minutes, John's lying on the sofa and me on top of him, pinning him down with his hands locked behind him.

"K.k.am.lrhdmgi!" He mutters, which makes no sense as it's muffled due to his mouth being covered by the sofa.

"What?" I ask in between my giggles.

"Amy. Let go!" He barks, lifting his head up a bit. "The pizza's getting cold."

"Oh crap!" I get off in a flash.

Finally, we settle down like grown-up kids and decide to continue with 'The Conjuring', stuffing ourselves with the yummy pizza snuggling up close to each other. Half-way through the movie, as expected, we both doze off.

Next morning, I wake up when the sun's rays hit my face as mom moves the curtains. I sense a stinging pain in my arm, due to its awkward position the entire night. I look to my left to see John almost lying on me, his hand on my face and my leg under his back. I struggle to get him off, rolling him over. I realize that my whole body hurts due to the weird way I slept. Once up, I decide to freshen up and go to college.

The rest of the week goes by quite uneventful, everything the usual. College is just the same, except that surprisingly I've started bonding with Lau(Yes, her pet name!), and I did seem to like her more each day! Natty was right! As for the extra classes, I am stuck with Phoebe(not a start I was looking for) and saw very little of that Silver guy, he hardly attends classes. The rest is not anything of significance, and Nathan? No sign of him at all!

Before I know it, another week passes by, just the same as the last.

I am currently standing in front of the tree at the gates of college on a Monday morning, waiting for Nat as I arrived early. My eyes wander off, until I spot something that catches my eyes. I get up and walk to the parking lot to get a closer look. My eyes fall off at what stands before it! It is...

It is... Nathan's car! He's back!!!

My heart just skips a beat, and I cannot control my brain as my legs sprint off to only one direction I can think off. His room! Since it's early, he should definitely be there. I try and catch my breath, to calm down as I pant my way up stairs and finally I reach his room. With sweaty hands and conflicting thoughts, I put my hand on the knob and turn it. It slightly opens, the gap showing the backside of him!

After so long, I am going to see him, I've missed him a lot over these days. I wasn't even dating him, yet I can't control the blush that creeps up. My nerves are in a frenzy and I can feel my heartbeat increasing, so I decide to step in and face him. That's when...

I notice something. There is somebody else, on whom... his hands are! Then, I almost throw up at the sight in front of me!

It's... Nathan kissing a girl, who I couldn't get a good look of, for I only get a sideview. He is passionately kissing her, deep into her, his hands running through her hair as he moans sweet words into her lips. I just cannot take it in, and stand at the doorway like a dumb rock! Lifeless and stuck, the moment frozen for an eternity.

At that moment, they switch places, oblivious to the fact that I am stood there, and now the girl is perfectly visible.

Miranda Ryder??!!!?!  Oh my god!

I'd heard rumors of them dating but never believed in any of them. I now feel like absolute shit! I have to get away before they see me.

Trying to control the flow of tears, I quickly run downstairs to the girls washroom. Once in, I quickly shut the door and sink down to the floor breaking down into tears. I couldn't care less how I look, cause now it doesn't even matter.

How could he even do that? After all that, how could he!? He was so into her, even the memory of that sight made me sick in my stomach. It hurt like I was hit with an iron anchor on my heart and there were electric shocks that jolted through my body. I'm shivering and cold from crying, and feel miserable.

I slowly lift myself up and peek into the mirror, my eyes widening with horror as I see my reflection. My eyes are puffy and dark red, nose puffed up with a red shade, lips quivering and swollen, and my mascara making a mess of my face.

The bell ring resonates in my ear, and the fact that I can't sit here like this the whole day sinks along with it. I turn the tap, letting cold biting water run down and hit it on my face to freshen up or whatever...

Wiping my face with a hand-towel and dabbing on some lip balm, I stare at my reflection. This time the 'me' that stares back, doesn't look so miserable. So I get on my feet, dragging them along steadily, out and down the stairs. I finally reach my first class, and hesitantly stand outside. After an unstoppable train of thoughts, I power walk in, to the last seat and sit down, far away from people, which hardly is a boon. I begin to think of him, tears threatening to erupt yet again.

Having cried enough already, I get up and take a seat beside Betty. "Morning Amy!" She greets in a sing-song tone.

"Morning." I sigh, trying to fake a smile.

"So, wait, you be-" She begins to speak but is cut-off.

"Good morning class!" He greets.

***********

Woah finally! That was a hard one to write and a sad one. This isn't the end though, a lot coming up! Stay tuned for more! :)

Do you think what Nathan did was right!? :o
What do you think will happen to Amy? o_0
