Chapter 48
"No. You're not going anywhere today." My mom said.
We lied to her. We told her that we were going to stroll in the fields. We were actually going to the beach to meet Anita.
"Aunt. We will be back soon." Jessica guaranteed.
"No. Today we're going to have a proper family dinner and I know if you go out you'll be late. So you're not going anywhere." My mother replied.
"Mom please." I requested
"No." She said.
It was difficult to convince her. It was next to impossible. She didn't agree and the sun had already set. So, I bet Anita must have left from the beach.
I was sad for not being able to meet her but then Jessica cheered me up.
I called Ryan and he was here with a happy face. He was glad we didn't go.
There was still one hour left before dinner. We were watching a horror movie.
"I'll go and get some water." Ryan said.
He was walking towards the door but suddenly we heard Ryan shouting.
We got up quickly and to my surprise, Anita was standing at the door of my room.
"I told you to stop doing this in front of me." Ryan said. He was still terrified.
"I could've died." He continued.
"Shut up Ryan. Anita get yourself in." Jessica said as she pulled Anita in.
"What happened?" We heard my mom yelling from downstairs.
"It was a spider." I yelled back.
"Ahh grow up Ryan!" My mother teased and we all laughed.
"Yeah laugh as much as you want." Ryan was annoyed.
"Okay I promise. I won't do it again." Anita said with puppy eyes but she eventually started to laugh.
"How did you enter my house?" I asked.
"Well I entered without opening my umbrella. I passed through the window. I'm a ghost, remember?" Anita explained as she winked at me and smiled.
I smiled at her too.
"I'm sorry we didn't come to meet you at the beach." I apologized.
"That's okay. I came myself." She replied with a smile.
Me and Jessica told Anita about our next plan and she was excited.
"What if it doesn't work?" She asked.
"No. Stop right there. I don't want any negativity. We have a very strong weapon remember?" Jessica said.
She was referring to the video. Indeed that video was a triumph for us. Jessica was too smart to record everything that happened with Anita's mother.
Seeing Anita's happy face, my heart danced with joy. My feelings for her kept on strengthening.
I was actually falling for a ghost!
I decided not to think about my feelings and to ignore them. I'd rather concentrate on our mission.
All we had to do was to wait for Kendall. And also for the show!
We were chatting when my mom suddenly called us for dinner.
"I should leave now." Anita said.
"Hey yeah. When you go your home, please make sure that no one there watches Kendall's show at 8 pm. Especially Seth Adams. Let him survive the shock tomorrow when the media will surround his house." Jessica said as she rubbed her hands in a satanic manner.
"Yes alright. I'll get going." Anita nodded.
"No. Stay here. We'll be back." I said.
"That's sweet of you Twan. But I have to meet Brie." Anita answered.
"We can go and meet her together tomorrow." I answered.
"No Twan. I just want to spend more time with her because..." She said as her voice started to crack into a sad tone.
"Because?" I asked.
"I have only a few days to stay here. Then I'll be gone and I won't see Brie again." She answered as tears filled in her eyes.
"I understand." I replied.
"See you tomorrow guys." Anita said as she closed her umbrella.
The fact that she will be gone forever sent chills down my spine. Will I be able to bid her a farewell?
