Chapter 34
We had our last class with Mr Adam.
Surprisingly, only 4 students were in the class when we entered there which means that there were a total of six students in his class, including me and Ryan.
"Well, seems like we have too many absentees today. What should we do?" Mr Adams asked.
Usually, I was the first to answer his question every time, but, it was the very first time I didn't.
My respect for him had decreased since I learnt about the way he treated his daughter.
"Okay class. You're free to do what you want. You can use mobile phones too but no music in class." Mr Seth Adams said.
"Great we can play ludo!" Ryan exclaimed.
"Ryan. I'm not in the mood." I said.
"Stop sulking Twan." Ryan teased.
"Twan my boy. How you're doing?" Mr Adams asked as he pulled a chair and sat in front of me.
"I'm good sir. And you?" I said, not in the exciting tone in which I used to talk with him.
"Great." He answered.
Suddenly, an idea hit me directly in the head. I can ask him to visit his house. And there, I'll grab the opportunity to see Florence. I also needed to know what Florence was planning to do in his house.
'Should I warn him about the babysitter he kept for his daughter?' I wondered.
Mr Seth Adams always loved publicity and I knew that. He liked it when someone would ask him questions about his lifestyle and so on.
"Sir. Tell me about your family. Who lives with you in your house." I asked out of a sudden.
"Oh alright. So I have my wife and two daughters, the maid." He started but I cut his sentence.
"Two daughters?" I asked in shock.
"Yes. I did a second marriage. My wife's no more with me. I don't know where she went or with whom she went but she's not with me. I then married a widow who was living all alone for her two daughters. I'm glad I did that. We're a happy family now." He explained.
There was a lot that I didn't know about that man.
"Oh okay. You're a great man sir." I praised.
"Thank you my boy. Yeah I was talking about my family. In my house I've got my wife and two daughters, the maid, the gardener and a babysitter...." He was talking but immediately stopped.
"A babysitter? Why?" I asked on the spot.
Ryan stared at me.
"Um did I just say a babysitter?" Mr Adams stammered.
"Yes you did. But who needs a babysitter at your place." Ryan said.
"Okay let me correct. The babysitter was actually babysitting my late daughter." He said in his defense.
"But you're daughter is no longer here. Then why the babysitter still works at your place?" I asked.
"Well my boy. This is because she is a helpless woman and has got no job. So, I appointed her as a helper to help the maid in doing the chores." Mr Adam explained.
He was smart. Very smart. He covered the truth in a jiffy.
"Sir. My cousin came for a project and she is currently staying at my place. She has a baby boy and needs a babysitter. If the one at your house is trustful, I can appoint her to babysit my nephew." I said.
"Yes she is very capable. You should appoint her." He said.
"Can I meet her?" I asked
"Yeah sure. You can meet her at my house itself. You can come anytime." Mr Adams said with a smile of kindness.
'Got you!' My inner voice shouted.
