We reached the hospital in no time and we were asked to wait for about 15 minutes to meet Ryan. His parents were sitting outside the ward where basically Shane was admitted. We all went there and waited.
Florence hadn't reached there yet.

After about 10 minutes of waiting, I myself started to think that she ran away. She must've been scared after receiving the news that Shane became blind.
She might have been scared by Mrs Ruby who threatened her in the police station. The way Mrs Ruby reacted clearly seemed that she hated Florence a lot now.

"I'm not scared of anything." I heard a voice due to which I gasped with fear.

Florence was standing behind me and looked fixedly into my eyes.
I wasn't scared by her sudden arrival but by the fact that she knew what I was thinking. This freaked me out. I said nothing and just kept on watching her.

"But it seems that you are sweating a lot." She chuckled.

She then walked towards the officer.

After waiting for some minutes more, a nurse came out of the ward and told us that Shane doesn't want to meet anybody and that he looked terrified.

Mrs Ruby quickly entered the ward without saying a word. We all followed her. Shane was sitting on the bed. He was not moving. His eyes were covered with bandage and cottons. He was looking straight.

Suddenly, when Florence entered the room, he turned his face in her direction. He was blind. How could he have known that Florence was inside.

Maybe I was thinking too much, I thought.

"Mr Shane Ruby. Why were you at the beach?" The officer asked.

Looking at Ryan's face, I could clearly say he was scared about Shane admitting that he was sent to follow Florence. However, deep in my mind, I was sure he won't as his parents would be furious when they would find out that their son was taking money to do stupid tasks.

Shane gave no answer.

"Were you following a girl?" The officer asked.

He still gave no answer.

"Tell the truth Shane. You are risking a lot of lives right now." Mr Ruby said.

"What the hell!.... So you think our son is a liar?" Mrs Ruby shouted as tears filled her eyes.

"All I'm asking him to do is to tell the truth. What's gone into you?" Mr Ruby said.

"You're literally accusing my son!" Mrs Ruby shouted even louder.

"If he is trouble today, it is because of you! You spoiled him. You always covered his mistakes. But not anymore." Mr Ruby shouted at his wife.

"How dare you talk to me like that!" Mrs Ruby shouted as tears rolled down her cheeks.

"Stop! I am the one to be blamed. I tried to molest a girl. I admit I was wrong. Ryan is innocent." Shane finally said.
