|Chapter Seven| I prefer the term woman
Aphmau zips up her snowsuit and looks back up at the vent, "Travis, when do the guards go on their breaks again?"
"Fifteen minutes." He answers.
"And where will the prisoners be at that time?"
"Either at the courtyard or their cell."
"Are you positive?"
"Couldn't be more genuine."
"Blaze, lift me up." Aphmau says as Blaze picks her up over his shoulder. She examines the vent and how it's closed. "Thanks." She taps his head and he lowers her back down to the ground.
"Any plans, princess?" Travis asks.
Aphmau rolls her eyes and faces Garroth, "In fifteen minutes, I need you to make sure there aren't guards nearby. Got it?"
"Aph, what if this plan doesn't work? There's been plenty of attempted just in the past week, none to work."
"We need to at least try. It's better than waiting around for Irene knows how long." She says, "Trust me."
He's hesitant, but nods anyway. "Good. Can you pass me all of the sheets you can tally in the cell? We'll need something to climb down on."

"
Ready, boys?" She asks and they all nod. Blaze lifts her over his shoulder so Aphmau could reach the vent.
"Nail." She holds her hand out and Travis passes her a nail. She tries her best to unscrew two nails from the vent, which she's successfully. "You think you can raise me higher?" She asks and Blaze gets on his tip toes.
She grabs ahold of the edges and pulls herself up. As soon she's in the vent pipes, Garroth tosses the sheets up and Aphmau starts to tie the tips tightly together.
"Who's first?" She whispers while lowering the sheet down. Travis doesn't hesitate to grab on and climb up.
"Hopefully this works." He says.
"You're already up here. We're halfway there." She lowers it back down for Blaze to grab on. Aphmau and Travis pull him up quickly and she lowers it down for Garroth.
"Hurry, I think I hear something!" He whispers as he holds on to the sheet and he gets lifted by Blaze and Travis.
"You guys go first. I'll close the vent up." Aphmau whispers. Blaze and Travis agree and start crawling but Garroth stays behind.
"Let me stay with you. Just in case." That was no point in fighting in, so Aphmau just nods and closes the vent. "You're doing a good job at holding up."
"What do you mean?" Aphmau starts screwing the screws back in.
"The way you're taking control without cracking under pressure. I admire it."
"I'm just doing what's necessary." She makes sure it's secure. "Now come on before those two idiots get us caught." She starts crawling towards the direction Blaze and Travis took off in.
"Aph?" Garroth asks, making Aphmau turn around.
"Yeah?"
"I- Actually, nevermind." He stops himself.
"If you say so." She shrugs and keeps crawling.
"I love you." He mumbles and follows her.

Blaze punches the vents to the outside and the door fell. "Well, that's one way of opening it." Aphmau ties one end of the sheet tightly to a pole and she lets the other one fall to the ground.
"Travis, you go first." Aphmau moves out of the way so he can climb down.
"Thank you. For everything." He says before he descends down the sheet.
"You next, Blaze." He salutes and starts climbing down right behind Travis.
"You go on ahead. I'll make sure no one is following us." Garroth insists. "And Aph?"
"Yes, Garroth?" She grabs the sheet and starts lowering herself down.
"Be careful. I don't want you to get hurt." He says. She nods and climbs down the sheet. Once she makes it to the ground, Garroth grabs the sheet but he's stopped.
"And what do you think you're doing?" A guard detains him. Travis and Blaze gasp, but Aphmau forms a snowball and turns it at the guard's jacket.
"Damn it." She tries to again, but it hits Garroth this time.
"You throw like a girl!" The guard teases, pulling a fighting Garroth back.
Aphmau gets offended and makes another snowball. "I prefer the term woman." She throws it and it lands right at the guard's eye.
He lets go of Garroth to try to and dig the snow out of his eye, giving Garroth time to jump down with the rest of the group. "That won't last long! Come on!" She grabs Garroth's wrist and the group starts running as fast as possible.

"
What if they're dead already? What if they're getting treasoned? What if-"
"Katelyn, treasoned isn't even a word. We'll find a way to get them out, one way or another." Aaron reassures her.
"We tried our best method and that backfired. How on earth are we getting to get them now-"
"Aaron! Katelyn!" They get interrupted by hearing their name getting called.
"That sounds like... Aphmau?" Katelyn says as Aphmau runs up to them with the other three. Aaron holds his arms and runs towards her.
"Aph!" Once she reaches him, he lifts her up and tightens his grip on her. "How did you get out? When did you get out? Where did you get out?"
"I-"
"Oh my Irene, I missed you!" Aaron says. Aphmau laughs and hugs him back.
"I missed you too." She responds.
Garroth gives Aaron a slight side eye.
"Hate to interrupt this sentimental moment, but there's probably a group of guard on our tail, so we should probably get a move on."
"Right," She says and he lowers her down, "But Aaron and Katelyn can't travel in this attire. We have to make a stop."
"We can't risk anything. We've already been caught escaping, making any stops isn't a good idea."
"If I may speak," Travis interrupts, "There's a stop for supplies before the next town. It isn't far, but it isn't that close either. We can make it by sunset by foot."
"Who the hell are you?" Katelyn asks.
"Travis. My name is Travis. No backstory and no interest in even considering looking for it." He bows and kisses Katelyn's hand.
"Aph, what did I say about picking strangers up from the curb?"
"It was him or we'd be still be in thar goddamn prison." Aphmau whispers to Katelyn.
"There they are!" A guard yells as other behind him start chasing the gang.
"Run!" Blaze says and everyone takes off towards the outskirts of town. As they almost make it, Aphmau trips on a stump in the ground, causing her to fall down. A twig scratches her cheek while she falls.
Aaron notices and run back to help her, "Come on, we're almost there!" He picks her up bridal style and tries to catch up with the group.
"Stop!" The guard yells at the other ones to stop. "They're in the sacred forest. No way they're getting out of there."
"Just like the reporter boy all those years ago?"
"Exactly like him."
