Chapter Six

She stands there right front of him, speechless. He was so intimidating, as all of the townspeople already say about him. She wanted to run, so badly, but she couldn't.

"I'm sorry I called you a bozo." She apologizes and he chuckles.

"I deserve it. I bumped into you." He says. She nods as a response.

She takes a deep breath, "I better get going. It's late out and I have stuff to do tomorrow." She announces, getting ready to finally- finally walk away.

Aaron had this sudden erge and grabs her shoulder, "Let me help you with that." Aaron offers.

Aphmau lets out a small giggle, "With one light bag? I'll be fine, your highness." She says.

"At least let me give you a ride. It must be midnight by now!" He says.

Aphmau wants to say yes, but, "I don't live far at all." She lies quickly. But Aaron doesn't give up.

"Then let me walk with you." He insists. Aphmau couldn't reject him anymore,

"Let's go." She says, leading him in the direction of her home.

"So your father is about to marry Patricia of Harley Pier and her daughters are evil?" He snorts at the story.

"Of course! They're insane. Why do you think I had to sneak out to get to the tailor shop?" She points out.

10 minutes have gone by. Endless chat files the silence of the roads- they enjoyed each other's company.

"What ever happened to close by?" Aaron asks.

"20 minutes is close for me." She says, walking at the same pace as Aaron. Slow and steady. As if he wanted this to last all night.

"So tell me. What's your story? You've intrigued me already." He mentions. That's where Aphmau becomes silent.

"I-I rather not talk about it. Too painful." She says. Aaron nods, but he's really interested in knowing.

"I understand. I won't pressure you." He responds.

Aphmau's left eyebrow perks up, "Just like how you pressured me into walking with you?"

"You're enjoying it, aren't you?"

Aphmau smiles, "Yeah, now I feel bad for rejecting you twice."

Aaron copies her smile, "It's fine. We're here and talking, right?"

"Yeah, you're right." They walk by the pier.

Aphmau gets an idea, "Wanna climb up the hill?" She asks.

"I thought you were supposed to get home by now." Aaron says.

She shrugs, "I don't really care anymore." She says, walking towards the hill. She slowly but surely began to hike up

Aaron follows her. They climbed up in no time. Aphmau sits out the edge, letting her feet hang.

"You coming?" She pats the grass beside her. Aaron sits right next to her.

The moon glistens above the sea and the wind blows in their hair. The cricket chirp, the stars tinkle, not a care in the world was heard.

"I come here a lot, especially when I was a child," Aphmau announces. Aaron looks down at her. "This is my safe place. Where I can just be myself without hearing those awful words."

"What words?" Aaron asks. Aphmau looks down.

"The words my mom left behind." She answers. Aaron had a feeling that this is what she didn't want to discuss, but he was so intrigued. So he waited to see if she would continue.

"My mom left a pretty bad reputation around, so I get the same treatment. Since I'm her famous daughter." Aphmau puts her head in her hands.

"Well, I think you're amazing the way you are." Aaron says. Aphmau looks up at him.

The entire 30 minutes they've been talking, she never once looked into his eyes. His dark, hazy, cold eyes. They've told a thousand stories- possibly more than hers.

"Thanks." Aphmau mumbles, looking back at the moon. The waves from the water clash with the sand. Aphmau lived watching it over and over again.

"So Mr Lycan," Aphmau starts up another conversation. "I've told you a little about myself. It's your turn."

Aaron laughs, "What do you want to know?" He asks.

Aphmau ponders for a moment, "What happened to your family? No one in the kindgom knows."

Aaron wasn't afraid to admit it, he felt safe. "My dad died of cancer when I was younger. Ten years later, my mom... decided to follow my dad. And my sister got married and moved away. After, I became heir to the kindgom." Aaron sums down the story.

"I'm so sorry." She apologizes. Aaron shakes his head.

"You have nothing to be sorry for. I just had a pretty messed up childhood." He states. Aphmau puts her hand on his shoulder.

"You and me both."

The world was silent, except for their synced breathing.

Breath in...

...Breath out.

Breath in-

Bang!

.. Black out.
