16- Battle of Personas.

"Did I say something I shouldn't have?" Emily questioned, Elaine's expression still vacant, devoid of emotion, but there was anger in her voice.

"Am I the fake? Do you have a problem? I am the original, and these are my pets. How can I not be the real one?"

"No. That is the persona you were forced to create for the cameras. The real Elaine is divided among the six around you."

"This is ridiculous. I thought you were my fan, and now you tell me I'm fake."

"Actually, from what I can see, it's better that I'm not a fan, right? After all, that would mean I would love the one who is not you."

"SHUT UP!" Elaine screamed. In response, all the horns, except for the Green one, started spinning like drills. They spun and spun. The general threw herself against the ground and began to dig tunnels beneath the earth. Emily quickly reacted and dashed deeper into the forest, analyzing the surroundings—trees, soil—she already knew what she wanted, just searching for it.

The Elaines followed her underground, frequently emerging. The Red one advanced with the most brutality, aiming to destroy everything in its path. The Blue one couldn't attack directly; its attacks were somewhat random, as if it couldn't focus on the battle. The Yellow one, along with the original Elaine, attacked without a specific pattern, just emerging and coming. The Purple one attacked suddenly and retreated, there was a certain randomness, but unlike the Blue one, it was not its advances that were random, but its exits.

The most dangerous was the Orange one, analytical and careful. This Elaine only emerged at precise moments when she knew Emily was off guard. While some attacks inevitably grazed Emily, they never hit as the girl could keep up well. With her intelligence, the young child carefully analyzed the pattern and had a slight idea of where the attacks would come from. But the Elaines laughed as they went back into the earth like mocking moles, laughing at the girl's wounds that, though small, burned and could easily be fatal.

"What immense destructive power," Emily thought aloud, as her back throbbed. "If someone judged by appearance alone, they would think that the horn on her head is just a silly unicorn ornament, but it's more than that. Her horn is a weapon with completely destructive power; the fine tip can pierce anything, and the rotation only makes the hole bigger and deeper. If I don't find what I'm looking for soon, I won't last much longer."

Emily continued running while dodging the General's attacks, keeping her attention on her surroundings, every plant, flora, analyzing their colors. A thought, so complex and vast, filled her mind in minutes. The flood of information made the girl stop running for a moment and put her hands on her head; it was too much for her to process.

"Headache, dear?" murmured some Elaine that Emily couldn't tell which. The Purple one then emerged and tore the girl's right arm. Emily screamed feeling the blood, but within seconds, the pain passed as her mind reasoned and got accustomed to it. As soon as Emily managed to catch up with her mental explosion, the child jumped into one of the holes made by the General, surprising Elaine.

"Planning to make me chase you and end up attacking my copies due to the narrow space? That won't work." Emily used her incredible deduction to choose her path, descending through the holes more and more until the Blue one emerged spinning from the tunnel in front of Emily while the Yellow one came up from behind. The young girl was expecting this and entered a tunnel to her left. The Elaines were about to collide, but the Yellow one dug down while the Blue one went straight. Elaine's voice echoed through the tunnels, "Each copy knows the location of the others. I said it won't work."

The Elaines hunted Emily through the tunnels like a cat after a mouse, but the child's brain was always nine steps ahead. The girl had already deduced how each Elaine's mind worked and which path they would take. Soon, she had a 3D map of the tunnels implanted in her mind. Her head throbbed with the amount of information she was receiving; she felt like it would burst at any moment. But now was a time she couldn't hesitate. The Elaines never managed to corner her as every time they thought they had trapped her, she escaped through a new route. All of them descended deeper and deeper into the underground.

"The deeper you go, the less chance you have to escape. You're digging your own grave, girl," the Red one shouted in a furiously mocking tone.

"On the contrary, Elaine, my route only increases." Elaine couldn't figure out what the hermit was planning. Emily always evaded two or more Elaines, making each go in a different direction to avoid each other.

Until Emily jumped into a tunnel that formed a parabola and stopped there. The original Elaine was spinning behind her, while the other five Elaines dug down to attack Emily from different points.

"Bye-bye forever," said Elaine coming with full force.

"Sorry, but this fight has just begun." Then all the tunnels began to collapse, and a large amount of water flooded them, taking all the Elaines and Emily with it. The flood happened quickly; Emily held her breath, already prepared, and within seconds, all the surrounding earth turned into mud and mire. Both opponents awoke amid the quagmire.

"What happened?" asked the Yellow one, in a childishly confused manner.

"Hmm..." murmured the original Elaine thoughtfully. "That was quite interesting. To think you would do something as crazy as this. Emoji of astonishment."

"Can someone explain what happened?" shouted the Red one angrily before the analytical Orange responded:

"She set a trap for us. While we thought she was trying to make us fight each other, she was actually leading each of us into a trap."

"I-I still don't understand..." cried the Blue one. "Sorry for being so dumb, I swear I tried."

"Caves," responded the Purple one, smiling intriguingly. "There are subterranean aquatic caves in the world. Using her great wisdom, she made us dig in circles, further weakening the terrain's structure while distracting the original. She made us think we were near her when we were actually near the caves. With our powerful horns, we ended up piercing the walls and compromising the entire territory. The water leaked and flooded everything."

"HOW DISGUSTING, NOW WE CAN'T DIG!" While the Red one was indignant, the Yellow one understood and admired.

"I seeeeeee now I understand. It was amazing."

"But it still leaves the question..." said the Orange one. "... How did she know we were over an aquatic cave?"

"It was obvious," Emily replied. "All you need to do is observe the nature around."

"Don't tell me... you didn't discover the cave just by looking at the flora, right? You would need to notice the imperceptible changes in tone in the vegetation as well as have an idea of which roots extend where... that's impossible."

"Apparently, for my power, it is not impossible." Her opponents stared at her, impressed and astonished, but the original Elaine quickly composed herself and began to speak.

"That's, like, really cool and shit, but, you know, you're not fooling me at all, girl."

"Fooling?" The original was the only one who gave Emily a bit of chills exactly because she couldn't read any emotion from her; the girl never knew what to expect.

"I noticed your brief moment of hangover earlier. And now you come telling me about this mega intelligence power you have... like, girl, HELLO? Doesn't compute."

"I don't understand what you mean."

"Well, shouldn't you be all nerdy? Listen up, sweetheart, I'll say it loud and clear: YOUR. POWER. DOESN'T. MATCH. WITH. YOU."

"Your headache earlier makes that clear," continued the Orange one. "Your power isn't compatible with your body or spirit. That's why they reject each other. But it's intriguing, how can a person awaken a power that doesn't fit them?"

Her power didn't fit? Yes... Emily knew that very well. She remembered John's deduction and how it didn't fit the power patterns. Her life wasn't in danger, and intelligence was never something she wanted, so why did the girl have that power? It wasn't just her rejecting it; it was rejecting her. For her power to work, the girl had to, literally, have another personality. She had become a completely different human being from who she was. There were two Emilys in her body—the original Emily and the Emily that others needed and wanted. Two entities in one body, but both are the same. Which one are you, Emily? Which one should exist? The one who saves the world and is needed by everyone? Or the one who is you and is happy? The one who feels or the one who thinks?

"Now it's my turn to find something interesting," Emily commented. Elaine looked at her intrigued. "So, you and I are alike. We both hide who we really are behind a version that's more competent and desirable than we are. Or am I wrong, dear?"

Elaine continued staring at Emily without saying anything. In the Red one, veins could be seen pulsing with hatred from the comment; the Blue one was crying profusely; the Yellow one was laughing nervously; the Purple one seemed confused, and the Orange one maintained a calm demeanor. But as always, the main Elaine didn't express anything, although this time, she wasn't smiling. Just face with no expression whatsoever.

"You really have a bold mouth, girl, since you insist so much on this..." - The unicorn girl then sat down on the muddy ground. "... it's better to face the real versions then. I won't get involved."

With these words said, the Red one charged into attack, running brutally like a bull. Emily prepared for a direct combat, and with capoeira moves, the Red one tried to deliver a kick to the girl's head. Emily attempted to block the attack with her arms, managed to protect her face, but the kick was strong enough to push her away, and not only that, but the kick also burned her left arm, leaving the girl confused.

"Sorry about that, disgusting..." Confronted the Red one. "... Everyone always says I'm a bit hot-tempered. Now get ready for more!" With more capoeira moves, the Red one continued attacking and advancing towards Emily. The girl had already realized that defending herself was a mistaken action; she should just try to dodge the attacks as much as possible. She needed to analyze the physical and structural condition of her opponent's body, as well as her expressions, movements, and thoughts, and put all of this into the perspective of the muddy scenario they were in, so she could predict where she would attack and how to dodge.

At a good pace, Emily managed to keep up with the enemy, dodging the blows. Her right arm sometimes trembled a bit due to the injury, and the burn on her left arm was stinging, slightly clouding her mind.

"Yellow..." Called Orange, calmly observing the fight between Emily and the Red one.

"Cry!" Said Yellow in a playful tone as if asking her copy to speak what she wanted.

"When I give the signal, I want you to give the best smile you can, okay?"

"Okay."

"Blue, go help Red in the fight."

"B-b-but... that's so unfair." The sad copy cried. "That girl is just a child, and she's fighting so bravely against Red, it wouldn't be nice to interfere like this."

"I'LL GO THEN..." Yelled Purple, wildly charging towards the fight. From her hand, an extremely malleable purple slime began to form, and as if playing with liquid dough, she formed a lasso and threw it over one of Emily's arms.

But due to her shout, the child had already noticed the approach of her second enemy, causing them to dodge the attack. Purple's interference did not diminish Red's advances at all; she attacked with her elegant and furious movements as if she didn't need to breathe. Emily was starting to have difficulty keeping up with her movement, and everywhere Red stepped or touched ended up burned as if it were hot iron.

Purple wasn't as destructive, a bit unpredictable due to her madness, but her malleable slime molded to her will. Sometimes it became a slingshot for long-distance attacks, sometimes it liquefied over the muddy ground, altering the terrain a bit, but usually, Purple liked to use it as a rope.

Emily kept moving, starting to get a bit tired. It wasn't just the two attacking her; she had to stay alert in case another Elaine wanted to join the fight. At one point, pressed by the duo in front of her, Emily got distracted hearing Orange yell:

"YELLOW, NOW!" With the signal, Yellow smiled, and her smile emitted such a strong light that Emily completely lost her sense of everything. The other Elaines continued advancing normally, but Emily tried to protect her eyes against the powerful spotlight. Even without sight, the girl still tried to take a few steps back and was surprised by Blue, who hugged her from behind.

"Sorry, little girl. I didn't want to do this." Blue cried, and while hugging her, Emily felt the cold skin hurting her. If Red burned with heat, Blue burned with cold. The child knew that if she didn't do something soon, her body would start to crack from the cold.

So her mind raced, and an idea came. She whispered to Blue:

"You shouldn't have been born in the first place." The words hurt, but that didn't make her let go; on the contrary, she held on tighter and colder, while falling into a comically exaggerated cry, her tears flying like fountains from her eyes. "HEY, RED... argh, so cold... YOU ARE THE UGLIEST I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!" Her skin was extremely painful, sensitive, and fragile. She needed to act quickly. The furious Red came charging straight at Emily, ready to deliver the hottest punch she would receive. Red in front, Blue behind. "And you, Yellow... are too beautiful."

The compliment made the enemy smile, blushing, and her smile shone. The light from her smile reflected on Blue's tears, turning her crying into a powerful magnifying glass, which in its radiance blinded Red, who was coming to attack with all her might. Emily, in a sudden movement, managed to spin and place Blue against Red. The sad one was punched by the angry one, and both bodies, with opposing temperatures, ended up exploding into steam.

Emily, who had her back completely burned, was thrown to the ground weak, with her clothes damaged, and her back raw red. On the other hand, two Elaines had been defeated, and the main one remained neutral, watching the entire fight.

"Tsc, her processing speed surpasses anything I could have thought..." Admitted Orange. "She immediately learned that the powers of the primaries grow according to their emotions. But it came at a price. So? Can you still move?"

To Orange's surprise: Yes. Emily could move as if nothing had happened. Her right arm had stopped trembling, the left one stopped burning, and the girl felt nothing on her back.

"You must be wondering how." Emily concluded, in a voice much colder than before, now with a face devoid of any emotion. "I simply concluded that it was better to stop feeling pain, so I turned it off. It only obscures my logic."

"You... turned off your sensory neurons?"

"I didn't turn it off. I just lowered it's frequency; I only want my sense of touch, not my pain. I... am not afraid of you, nor do I feel urgency to defeat you. I just know that I have to win this fight, so everything must be done to achieve my goal. And from what I can conclude, just my mind is enough to win this."

"You're quite conceited..." Said Purple. "... just because you don't feel it doesn't mean everything is fine. Even without pain, you're still injured, and we are still three against one."

"Wrong..." A new voice, amid yawns, came from the forest towards the muddy area where they were. The Green Elaine, who had been sleeping peacefully before, arrived sleepily, scratching her head. "... I'll help too."

With a hand movement, Green changed the weather, a very strong and instant rain began, further liquefying the area, creating much larger puddles than before. She raised her left hand, and behind her, the waters gathered and formed a large water ogre. Purple, while laughing non-stop, used her slime to create a spider that quickly grew in size, surpassing the treetops.

She jumped on the back of her creation and charged towards Emily. The girl tried to run but her body stopped obeying her for a moment, causing her to tumble into the mud.

Emily then saw that her skin was infested with spots and blisters, realizing that what had rained for a brief moment wasn't water but a type of acid. She had turned off the pain so she hadn't felt that something was happening. The spider came and stepped on her; fortunately, neither the ground nor the spider was hard, both were soft and malleable, otherwise, she would have been crushed right there. Orange's horn started to shine after she pointed it at her enemy.

But even in a disadvantageous situation, the girl felt nothing. Her heart had simply stopped, while her mind was racing, thinking so fast that time stopped for her. She processed everything so powerfully that nothing could keep up. She realized that her nose was going to start bleeding as her body truly rejected that power, and she took a moment to think about her situation. Not about the fight, but about her life. Being useful to others wasn't worth it, especially when denying her own self.

And the strangest thing was that even after reaching such a high level of reasoning, she still couldn't understand her powers... she didn't want to understand them, because she felt that if she did, she would discover something she didn't want to know.

Then Emily returned to the fight, considering all the possibilities in her mind. She noticed that the mud around her was very soft and a bit deeper on her right. She quickly understood what Orange's power was, even though she had never seen it before. She let time continue to pass, squeezed to the right, sinking a bit more into the mud, causing the spider's slimy leg to sink more as well. The creature lost its balance and stumbled a bit, getting hit by the laser coming from Orange's horn. Its leg was shattered, dismantling the spider and knocking Purple off its back.

Purple hit her head on a tree branch, her horn broke, and she disappeared immediately. But even after defeating another Elaine, Emily felt nothing because she had expected that outcome. Slowly, more ideas formed in her mind. As she naturally understood more about her powers, she picked up a large rock from the ground.

"Hey, Orange... was all this just a coincidence?" Yellow asked, still with a cheerful but confused expression.

"It must have been... she didn't know what my power was. It was all just luck."

"Luck? That doesn't exist." Emily murmured. "It was all factors, like this one."

From a considerable distance from the two, Emily threw the rock, which flew with much more force and speed than they had expected. The rock collided with Orange's head and then ricocheted to Yellow's head, killing both in one move. The original Elaine remained expressionless, watching the scene, while Green was stunned.

"But... how? You're just a child... how did you have the strength to..."

"I've made my decision..." Emily wasn't well; on the contrary, she was sweating, her heart was racing, and her breathing was labored. How had the child thrown that rock from a distance and done what she did? Simple, because she induced her own body to produce the highest level of adrenaline it could in one move, increased her strength, calculated precisely everything she needed to do for a sure hit, and her body followed her instructions to the letter. "... once I defeat you here... I will never use this power again. Because it's not me... and I reject it."

"I don't know what you're talking about but..." Before Green could finish speaking, Emily advanced, aiming to end the fight as quickly as possible. The acid ogre intervened between them, and Emily simply closed her eyes, plunged into it, and passed through as if it were a bubble in her path. Obviously, her skin burned even more, the blisters on her body burst, and now she had pus and blood on her skin. Green remained speechless in front of the child's action; she was so rational it bordered on madness. "... who are you?"

"I don't know either." Emily said before punching Green's face and kneeing her stomach. With a destructive sequence of attacks, Emily fought Elaine with all her might. Until Green vanished, and the ogre dissolved into a large puddle of acid on the ground.

And as the last colored Elaine vanished, the real Elaine stood up and began clapping for Emily, with a neutral face, slow and polite applause, but with no emotion behind it, even the diva persona had disappeared.

"Congratulations, you managed to defeat all of them. Your body is at its limit, but it's still impressive..."

Then Elaine's hair turned wisely orange...

"Even with an incompatible power, you were excellent. You were fighting against yourself, and still managed to prevail..."

Joyfully yellow...

"It was very fun, I must say. You surprised me every second, seriously, girl, congratulations..."

Sadly blue...

"But I feel so sorry for you. I know how hard it is to sacrifice who you are for the will of others..."

Madly purple...

"Ahahahaha, the best part is that the people we sacrifice ourselves to please and help completely ignore what we go through..."

Angrily red...

"Those idiots didn't deserve any of it. They should just disappear. Instead of helping, they just put more pressure, more expectations, they play as if they have the right to force intimacy, a bunch of incompetents. WHY DIDN'T ANYONE TRY TO HELP ME?"

And finally, calmly green. She sighed.

"Congratulations, girl, you managed to erase the false me. And now I'm back..."

Her hair then returned to its normal color, but now, there were emotions behind her, as well as tears in her eyes.

"You said your old self would have been my fan... I wish this new you had watched me. You would have seen my plea for help..."

"Yes, she would have. But it's not worth sacrificing myself to save someone else. At least, that's what my logic says."

Elaine snapped her fingers, and before Emily realized it, she was chained to the ground.

"I said you were welcome to the rainbow corner. Here, you can be whatever you want." The piece of muddy ground Elaine was on transformed into a normal grassy field, detached from the rest of the land, and like a flying carpet, brought Elaine closer to Emily. "Your body can't fight anymore, and everything I imagine becomes reality. This is your end."

"... Everything you imagine becomes reality? Maybe. My body can't fight anymore? Don't be naïve, do you really think my genius only goes this far?"

"What do you mean by that?"

"You saw with your own eyes, I managed to control my neurons at will, whether to inject adrenaline into myself or to numb my pain. Tell me, what's stopping me from accelerating the movement of my platelets and healing my entire body until it's as good as new?" And as Emily said, her body quickly began to heal, her burns faded, her bruises and blisters disappeared, and in seconds, it was Emily who was healed.

"That's absurd."

"Elaine, you can't defeat me. Just as these chains can't hold me, and do you know why?" With a wave of her arms, Emily broke everything that was holding her. Elaine was terrified and stepped back, launching a huge fireball at her. The young unicorn wasn't thinking; she was just scared. Not even in her own corner... would she be safe? "Because my genius makes me omnipotent."

Against the fireball, a large energy cannon was fired from Emily's hand, swallowing the fire and Elaine. The general fell to the ground, one arm had been disintegrated, her horn broken, her body all wounded and hurt. Emily approached her completely unscathed.

"How can you be omnipotent? It doesn't make sense..."

"I'm not. It was all just a bluff."

"A... bluff?"

"Yes. Elaine, the person who healed me, broke my chains, and gave me this immense power. It was you."

"Oh... I see... how stupid I am..." the girl said, crying. "... You made me imagine, and my imagination became reality. I'm so foolish."

"No, you're not. I'm just too smart. You're just a girl, just like the other me, you shouldn't even be going through this or have gone through what you did. You're beautiful, Elaine, and smart. You just couldn't see that on your own. Now you can rest, you know you won't be able to defeat me."

"Emily... please, for you and a little for me, be yourself, okay? Don't let others tell you who you are." Saying this, Elaine's body turned brown, and the light dissipated through all spaces and times, returning her fauna. Just as Emily had promised, when the fight ended, she stopped thinking and let her old self return. The mind stopped acting, and the heart began to beat again.

"Wow, so this is a real fight. I can't believe I managed to think through all that and win. Maybe if I train a lot, I can also beat some of these guys. I can't let my intelligent side get in my way. Well, now I need to find the others, where should I go?"

The child wandered through the forest, this time with caution. Everywhere she looked, she could see insects, some animals, and dinosaurs. And even the old Emily wasn't foolish enough to confront dinosaurs head-on. With no sound, it was hard to tell if they were coming to attack from behind, and the girl desperately ran, searching for an exit.

Until, in the distance, she spotted something like a glowing portal. Without thinking twice, Emily jumped into it, curious, and emerged in the middle of a big city. Many of the buildings were destroyed, and moving a bit further, Emily found Lysa unconscious on the ground.

"LYSA! ARE YOU OKAY? WHAT HAPPENED HERE?" The girl shook her friend frantically from side to side, trying to wake her. Her friend then regained consciousness, confused.

"Emily? Where did you come from?" Lysa was still dizzy, her body ached, and her head was throbbing. It made sense, after all, she had just faced an extremely powerful being. What didn't make sense was how Emily was intact after fighting someone equally strong. When her friend told her about her fight, Lysa just listened, incredulous. "And you won like that?"

To her, it was a flawless victory. From the way Emily spoke, it seemed like Elaine had been humiliated the entire fight... and Lysa had been constantly humiliated by Rhoj. She had only managed to win thanks to all the powers that has awaken in the battle while Emily only used one. Lysa needed to grow up soon, to not be so dependable.

While Emily aimed to surpass her intelligent self, facing someone without having to stop being who she was. She wanted to fight with all she had, not just what she won.

The two girls then set off together in search of another portal, alert to any enemy or friend that might appear in front of them.

Clark

Clark continued wandering through the snowy mountain, his nose having turned into a waterfall, the skin on his face peeling from the extreme cold.

"I think I understand now. Someone defeated the general who wielded nature. Who was the idiot who sent me here? ACHOO!" In the midst of his sneeze, a shadow hovered over him, passing by like a hawk. Clark looked up to see the object responsible and saw something resembling a giant bird in the heights. It was when it was against the sun that he realized it wasn't a bird but a woman with wings.

An extremely beautiful woman.

"You must be one of the surviving humans," Angela deduced, landing on a rock a few meters in front of and above Clark, far as if she wanted to avoid any kind of proximity.

"You're... too beautiful." Another... there wasn't a single person who didn't care about the general's beauty. She had been idolized, cursed, loved, and hated for her beauty by every human who crossed her path.

"Narf mentioned a handsome redhead among the humans, but how disappointing, you're ugly."

"Ugly? Don't be fooled, woman. I'm just a bit sick. I assure you, I'm not someone who's usually discarded. I'm possibly the most handsome man you've ever seen in your life."

"No, you're not." Angela's response was so direct and swift that Clark felt extremely offended, and with the distance between them, he couldn't use his powers on her. "In my entire life, I have never encountered a single man I would consider handsome. To me, everyone is ugly."

"A-ahaha..." Clark let out an awkward and irritated laugh, as if trying to control himself from saying something unnecessary. "... But among all the ugly ones, I'm the most handsome, right?"

"No."

"B-But how so?"

"Does the most polished trash in a trash can stop being trash? What's the point of saying which is the most handsome if everyone is ugly?"

"And I should presume you think of yourself as the most beautiful."

"Wasn't it you who confessed that with your own lips as soon as you saw me? Are you going to deny that I'm beautiful just because you refuse to accept that you're ugly?"

"Ahahaha, you're really testing my patience..."

"Are you annoyed? Why? Do you like being handsome?"

"Of course. I take great pride in my appearance. Many love me because of it. Being handsome is the greatest blessing I could have."

"Besides being ugly, you're foolish. Being beautiful is the greatest curse I could have. And my word is law on this matter. See, I'm barefoot in the snowstorm and still, nothing bothers me, no scars, no cracks, no dirt. Perfectly complete in my fullness."

"But the monk himself told me I am as beautiful as the yellow angel."

"Monk? I don't know who you're talking about. But one thing I know, I am a Flarmen, something similar to an angel, and I destroyed the yellow virtue of Joy. Does that mean you're as beautiful as I am? Nonsense, if you were, you would hate it. There are only two beings that resemble me in beauty in all the Earth and sky: my sister and death."

"Okay, okay, enough blah blah blah. You might be very beautiful, but you're nothing but a ****." Saying this, Clark drew his dagger, still with his cynical smile but with an angry expression. "I guess I'll have to pluck this chicken in front of me."

Angela sighed, feeling the cold air in her lungs, the wind lifting her hair and dancing with her dress, her gold bracelets whistling with the sound of the wind.

"Young Icarus, don't try to fly higher than your body can endure." Angela moved her left wing with brutality. Clark, astutely, leaped to the side, dodging several projectiles. Upon closer inspection, he realized they were feathers, but as hard as knives.

Clark just kept his cynical smile, staring at Angela with great interest.

"It's a pity that a woman like you thinks I'm ugly. You're quite a catch. I guess that means I need to make you love me then... That will be the greatest achievement of my life." For the third time in her life, Angela felt a shiver in her body. The first was facing death, the second was facing Lily. The man in front of her didn't give her as many chills as Lily, but he scared her much more than death. He exuded pure malice, his smile was distorted, that angel had never raised her wings to contemplate the skies; he was an Earthly angel, dirty and false.

It was Angela... who was afraid of the abomination in front of her.
