Chapter 6

Big Fun

Alex's POV

I paced around the room, trying to figure out what to do. It was in my log, but what would I say? "Hi, I'm just calling because I can't have that inspection on Saturday because I'm getting married"?

Eliza's POV

I figured I would show up to the wedding, then disappear again. A dick move, but at least I'd be there.

I overlooked the dress that I would wear as a bridesmaid. It was a dark blue - shit. There was a hole along the hemming.

After some hard work, I managed to turn it inside out. I plugged in my sewing machine and sewed along the edge. Hercules actually made the dresses, then gave the thread to me., so I had it for repairs. Would it even fit, with my five-month stomach?

I patched up the dress. Finally.

Peggy's POV

I found the ribbons I had been looking for and clutched my stomach. I sketched the bouquets, and sent them to John.

I closed my phone and sighed. My back hurt... I want ice cream. Is it okay to give in to your cravings? Too bad, I'm doing it.

After I ate two buckets of ice cream, I started getting giddy, before passing out on the couch.

John's POV

I continued pacing, then I sat on the ugly-ass armchair. Then I started pacing again. Then I sat down again, trying to find something, anything to focus on so I'd stop being dizzy.

I settled on a spot on the popcorn wall. My vision zoomed in on it and-

I was sitting on my bed, reading the love letter Alexander had sent me.

"To John Laurens"

"Cold in my professions-warm in my friendships-I wish, my dear Laurens, that it were in my power, by actions, rather than words, to convince you that I love you." I smiled. Alexander really did love me.

"I shall only tell you, that till you bade us adeiu, I hardly knew the value you had taught my heart had set upon you. Indeed, my friend, it was not well done. You know the opinion I entertain of mankind; and how much it is my desire to preserve myself from particular attachments, and to keep my happiness independent of the caprices of others."

I nod my head, still smiling broadly. "You really do try to focus on work, you have almost no social life."

"You should not have taken advantage of my sensibility to steal into my affections without my consent. But as you have done it, and as we are generally indulgent to those we love, I shall not scruple to pardon the fraud you have committed, on one condition; that for my sake, if not for yours, that you will continue to merit the partiality that you have so artfully instilled into me."

Alexander's signiture lay beneath. He was so perfect, and he had such a way with words.

It ended there. That wasn't my memory - it couldn't be. But I was reading a letter addressed to me... What?

Alex's POV

I called the number. "Hello?"

"This is Iris Meadows. How can I help you?"

"Um, this is Alexander Hamilton? I'm calling about the second inspection."

"What about it?"

"Well, in the midst of the excitement, I didn't remember I was getting married on Saturday. So could we reschedule for sometime Friday?"

Iris seemed taken aback. "Yes, of course. Does 4 pm work?"

"Yes. Thank you so much."

"No problem."

Just as I hung up the phone, I looked at a spot on the popcorn wall. My eyes zoomed in on it, and then something flashed through my eyes.

"To John Laurens," I wrote.

"Cold in my professions-warm in my friendships-I wish, my dear Laurens, it where in my power, by actions rather than words, to convince you that I love you.

"I shall only tell you, that till you bade us adieu, I hardly knew the value you had taught my heart to set upon you. Indeed, my friend, it was not well done. You know the opinion I entertain of mankind; and how much it is my desire to preserve myself from particular attachments, and to keep my happiness independent from the caprices of others.

"You should not have taken advantage of my sensibility to steal into my affections without my consent. But as you have done it, and as we are generally indulgent to those we love, I shall not scruple to pardon the fraud you have committed on one condition; that for my sake, if not for your own, you will continue to merit the partitiality that you have so artfully instilled in me."

I signed my name, and sent the letter. I hope he replies soon.

That's not my memory. But that's definitely something I would write... I was using a quill, so that must've been... late 1700's to early 1800's...

Angelica's POV

I knew nothing would ever be the same without Eliza, and I'm literally like the most loyal person to ever be loyal. I love my sisters more than anything in this life, and I'll choose their happiness over mine.

Every.

Single.

Time.

Except for this time.

It's like if someone has an eating disorder, or wants to kill themselves, you tell someone, even if the person who told you told you not to tell.

I walked up to the group at the bar.

"So I finally got the abortion..." Peggy was saying.

"So..."

They looked up. "Where's Eliza? You usually come together."

"About that... well, she sorta moved to New Jersey."

(dun Dun DUNNN)

(OPINION TIME.)

(Which should I do - Seagelica or Georgebury?)

(Seagelica is Angelica and Samuel Seabury, and Georgebury is King George with Sammy.)
