Chapter 4

Our Love Is God

John's POV

Alex fell on the bed. "Planning a wedding is exhausting." He had finally been discharged from the hospital, and he was using chemo therapy. He was getting better!

"And all that other shit you do isn't?" I laughed. "FUCK IT ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS!" I exclaimed. I quickly got out my phone, went into the kitchen while we were changing into the same things we wore when I proposed to him, and we took a selfie of us with Alex's left hand held at the camera.

Done.

"Budget?" I asked him, once we were back in my room.

"10k," he replied, instantly.

"Okay. Wedding date?" I asked.

"Um... tommorrow." He said.

"Alex!" I laughed.

"In exactly five months time," he replied.

"Next on the list, planning a guest list."

"Hercules, Lafeyette, Angelica, Eliza, Peggy, Burr, Theodosia, Washington, Washington's wife, Jefferson and Madison."

"Alright then." He seemed so sure. "Let's design wedding invitations!"

We made evites. Our wedding would probably be the most modern wedding ever.

Of course, we immediately got responses from the Schuylers. They were all coming.

A few hours later, we got responses from the Washingtons. They were coming too.

Two hours later, we both found ourselves on the phone, trying to find a wedding planner that would plan a gay wedding.

"I got one!" Alex suddenly burst out. "Her name's Grace, she fully supports the LGBTQ+ community, she's been planning weddings for eight years and has planned 160 weddings, and she's free for most of this month, next month, and the month after that."

"So November, December, and January?"

"Yeah."

"Okay, book a meeting with her for-"

"She can see us now."

"Perfect. LET'S GET PLANNING, BITCHES!"

Grace's POV

"Hello! Alex!" I gave Alex a hug. "And you must be John. Alex has told me so much about you!"

John smiled. "How will you help us plan our wedding?"

"Oh, I'll just think of the perfect wedding for you two, then I'll run every tiny detail by you!"

"Okay. The most important things you need to know is that it's going to be completely modern, kinda scifi, and we're only inviting 13 people," he checked his phone, "all of which are coming."

"Alright! That's perfect!" The pieces of the venue were already coming together in my head.

I started to run everything through with them.

"Color scheme, I think should be blue, black and white. The black and white goes for a more traditional scheme, but the bright blue shows a bit of scifi."

They stared at me. "What? I told you, I've planned 160 weddings in eight years. That's 20 weddings a year!"

Alex nodded. "Y-yeah, that's a great color scheme."

"Okay. Who's your wedding party made of?"

John grabbed a notebook. "Eliza, Angelica, and Lafeyette are bridesmaids, Peggy's the maid of honor, we don't have any groomsmen, and Hercules is the best man. Catherine's the ring bearer, and Theodosia Jr. is the flower girl."

"Wow, you've been working hard on this!" I exclaimed. Alex blushed. "Okay, now we need the wedding and reception venues."

"I know," Alex said. "Our backyard."

"...That works," I said, writing it down. "If you want it to be so modern, how about making a wedding hashtag?"

"#a.hamxj.laur," John immediately said.

I jotted it down. "Wedding website?"

Alex went to the computer.

Alex's POV

I went to makeyourownwebsite.com again.

After a while, our website, a.hamxj.laur.com, was up and running.

"Beautiful!" Grace exclaimed. "Next, find and book your photographer."

I smiled, and went to the other tab. "Already done."

Grace's POV

"Next on my usual list is caterer, but since there's only 13 people, I think you can just ask Lafeyette."

"How do you know Lafeyette?" John questioned.

"I went to college with all you! Remember? Graciana Garth?"

John gasped. "Grace! It's you! Alex talked about you, but I never got to meet you!"

I pulled my hair down. Remember me now, Alex?"

Alex smiled. He ran to give me a hug. "Gracie!"

"Let's get back to planning. Florist?"

"Um, have you never met Peggy?" Alex laughed.

"Oh yeah. Videographer?"

"The photographer takes videos too."

"Someone's had their coffee today. Wait... WEDDING ATTIRE!"

Alex pulled a tuxedo out of the coat closet, and John pulled out a matching tuxedo, except his was white, and Alex's was black.

I took the ties and went to my car. "I'll be right back."

A few seconds later, I came back with two bright blue ties. "Don't you want to match the color scheme?"

"Grace! How'd you know?" John exclaimed, examining the tie.

I shrugged. "I didn't. I keep a stash of formal accessories in my trunk. I have ties of so many colors!"

"Okay, you're officially awesome."

"Thanks. I think that Aaron Burr can be in charge of music?"

"Yes! Yes, he can." John jumped in front of a growling Alex.

"Okay, you need to add your registry to your wedding website."

"You think I didn't do that already?" Alex laughed.

"Okay, well you can't have already booked your officiant."

"Actually, Angelica studied law."

"But isn't she a bridesmaid?"

"That was a mistake."

"Okay, fine. You need to find and order your wedding party attire."

"Can we go to the backyard to do this? I think that being in the venue will help."

We walked outside. Their backyard was beautiful.

"Anyway," John said, "we actually have the perfect stuff from when we threw a graduation party. It was one of our only classy parties." He showed me some pictures on his phone.

The Schuylers and Lafeyette

And Hercules

"Angelica is the one in the pink dress, so you won't be able to use that one."

"I know," Alex replied.

"And don't you want Peggy to have a special dress, since she's MOH?"

"She has one, from when we went to a formal dinner together. With Alex, of course."

"Nice!" I exclaimed. "You've really thought this through."

"I've been planning the proposal for a year," John blushed.

"Okay, you need to plan and book your honeymoon."

"Paris, April 2nd, flights are booked."

"Alex, you never did any work that whole time, did you?" John laughed.

Alex shook his head.

"We got through a lot! We're off to a great start."
