Gentle knocking on the wooden door woke her up from her deep sleep . She shifted under the warm blanket , blinking her eyes to adjust with the sunlight penetrating from the window. 

A head popped up from behind the door , as the girl tried to clear her morning voice .

" Good morning , pops " She greeted , getting rid of the blanket enveloping her.

" I hope you slept well , princess " He chirped  as he made his way towards her.

" I slept very well.  How about you , pops  ? "

" I slept wonderfully Miss . Excited for school ?" 

" Not really  , but what's for breakfast ? "

" God , when I was  your age ...."

She didn't waste any time and grabbed him into a headlock.

" I know the whole history of your adventurous journey to school ... I'll get ready soon "

A kiss was placed on his cheeks , before she headed  towards the washroom .

After her morning shower , she stared at herself in the mirror in her new uniform .

" Why the hell is this skirt  too short ?" She mumbled trying to reach it down  to her knee length. 

" Atleast it's covering most of it and I look fabulous in it .  But something's missing ?" She wondered .

" A smile " Her mother answered as  she stared at her daughter with those sparkling eyes of hers  .

" Right ...A smile " She forced herself to smile , sending her a wink to which her mother  chuckled .

" Everyday is a new beginning  " Her mother smiled at her , before placing  a kiss on both  her cheeks.

" I'll embrace it and make the best out of it  "

"  I'm feeling left out now " They turned their attention towards the figure watching them with a pout on his face.

" Come here ,  pops " She held her arms out to him , waiting for his hug.

She couldn't hide her grin that had spread over her lips  at the smell of food .

" Waffles and melted chocolate "

She skipped towards the table , seated herself in the chair waiting for them.
"Let's dig in , shall we ? " She eyed her father who winked back at her .

"  Games on " He mumbled grabbing the waffles .

" I hope you both choke on it and dies " Her mother  let out a snarky remark at them , before grabbing herself a plate of it .

" You ruined my mood , honey "

" So I win ...  Great way to start " She chuckled winking at her mother.

" Take care , princess "
She turned back to face her parents who was waving cheerfully at her .

" I will " She smiled at them , turning her heels towards her next destination. Her school.
