Chapter 4 - Constant Vigilance

Before you start reading, I just want to point out that we are going back to memory lane, where things were not as nice as they seem right now. Expect some harsh and vulgar words, some violence and just have in thought that it's in the past. No harm has been done to either of our main characters, so read without a fear. Enjoy =)

...

It was late. The clock on his computer pointed to 2:45 am. He was working non-stop for almost 11 hours, mind the bathroom breaks here and there. He was grateful that Jin send him food and drink, otherwise, he would forget to eat and hydrate. He was so enticed with his work that he didn't see anything else. So much to be done, to be seen and learned.

Namjoon groaned and stretched in his chair, feeling his bones crack from sitting in the same position for too long. No matter how comfortable his chairs are, his spine is still going to protest. He will need to call Beomgyu to fix his back again. That boy has golden hands indeed.

He looks at his work, feeling that he didn't give his 100% himself into it. There was so much that needs to be done. His brother's plan is brilliant and it's up to Namjoon to make sure everything runs smoothly at least in the electronic world. It needs to be clean and precise, without a trace and Namjoon will make sure that it does. The Wold is cruel as it is, he felt it along with his brothers how brutal it could be. He will never forget how close he was to killing that one time. It was lucky both of his brothers were there.

Namjoon stared nowhere in particular, feeling his gaze unfocused as the memories surged into his brain.

It was some years ago. They've been with ''Organization'' for a while now. Thanks, father, may you rot in hell. He thought bitterly. Tae was only fifteen at the time, and very adorable. Even the dangerous surroundings never made his charisma waver. He was easily adaptable. Jinnie Hyung was as good as their youngest brother, but not so natural. Jin's personality was easily masked with a prim and proper persona. He was always smart and observant. Namjoon has always admired him very much.

Namjoon, on other hand, struggled. Even though he was trained well, he still allowed his frustration and anger to show on his face. He would bite his inner cheeks, unconsciously, while scowling at the person, his eyes narrowing until they resembled that of a dragon, whenever he was pissed off, as Jin points out all the time. Namjoon just couldn't help it, and his defiance meant life and death sometimes. You don't want to mess with the wrong people in the ''Org.'' as Tae calls them when they are alone, just the three of them. Jin would often reprimand him for that, not because of his loyalty towards them, but from worry that it will slip when it shouldn't. If anything, Jin hates the entire organization more than the rest of them, since he had was much longer in it, trying to clean up their father's mess and pay out his huge debts.

Their father was an egoistical selfish man, who thought he was on the top of the game. He played the game and was overplayed. He lost big time. What a fool. Namjoon was glad they all got their mother's brains It was her careful guidance that made them the persons they are today.

Even though Tae is the youngest, baby in the family, it was Namjoon that was the closest to her. Jin, as the oldest had to spend most of his time next to their father, to learn the business and to behave as the heir of the empire. Namjoon chuckled to himself, the Empire...there wasn't one in a long time while their father was alive. The family business began with their grandfather's small jewellery shop. It was modest but offered high quality. He was a good man, patient. Even in his old age, when he passed his shop to his son, he still did what he knew the best – he made jewellery. Jin adored him and spend every possible moment with him, learning the craft. It was like his zen garden, observing the slow and careful moves of his grandfather's hands as he worked on the stones and silver and gold. It was an old trade – the family talent that only Jin inherit. That's why Jin was devastated when he died.

Their father, however, always ambitious, strived to make the business bigger and better. He lacks the talent, but he knew the business. His marriage was supposed to be out of convenience since their mother's family was powerful, but he ended up falling in love with her. No wonder, she was so much like Taehyung but more gentle and more in control. Their parents were... well...Namjoon wouldn't say happy, but rather comfortable with one another, two pillars of the family for a long time, and even though they were never a proper family since their father was always on business trips and with co-workers, their mother was their everything.

They strived to make her laugh often and would feel so proud when they managed to do so. Namjoon felt a soft, almost sad smile spread on his face. Those were happy moments. They were carved into his memory since they were the only ones that he had for a long time. Unlike Taehyung, who sees the world filled with opportunities even in the darkest times, Namjoon does not. He has no luxury to forget as Taehyung does. Namjoon's mind was a gift and a curse because he remembers everything. Every little detail since he was very young. All the bad things and somewhat good ones are stored in his brain, which is why he preferred solitude and animals instead of people. They can't hurt you if you are patient and gentle with them.

He didn't like reality much. His connection to the online world allowed him glimpses into everything and what he found out there was not pleasant, so he preferred to spend his time in imaginary worlds of video games, books, write his own stories with programming and take long walks in nature with his dog or ride the bicycle. He stopped caring for people when people turned their back on them and left them to struggle. Namjoon had no patience for any of it.

He was often angry and even though he has a gentle nature he was not the person to be messed with. He exercised four times a week, building up his muscles, practising self-defence with his brothers and spending the rest of his time in front of the computer. The martial arts was something Jin insisted on wholeheartedly.

-'' If we get into the trouble, I want us to know how to get out of it.'' – He said many years ago, after that incident. – '' I want us to practice our mind and our body. I never want us to be in the situation we were in three nights ago.''

And so they hired a master and push themselves to learn the art of self-defence and fighting. You would never say when you see them how dangerous they are. They always looked so elegant and calm. Well, maybe not Namjoon. He got used to visiting their gym often, and as a result his chest, back and arms widened, his legs grew stronger and he just, sort of, grew bigger all over. Luckily he wore comfortable plus-size clothes which hid most of his muscles, but it was visible, especially when he has a business meeting or some gala to attend to. As the CEO of Kim Security, as well as the vice-president of Kim Enterprise, he had no choice but to show up from time to time on those tedious evets and useless meetings. To his dismay, the suits were the required part of that title, and to his even bigger annoyance, they had to be fixed often because he outgrew them quickly.

-'' I can just wear a comfortable jumper, Hyung, or a shirt.'' – He complains.

-'' You cannot wear casual clothes at the black-tie or a business event, Namjoon.'' – Jin would scold exasperatedly while observing their tailor measuring Namjoon's form for the third time that year.

– '' Stop working out so much, Joonie. Soon, you won't be able to push your chest and back through the door.''

Namjon standing with his hands spread, rolling his eyes. –'' If your shoulders can go through them, Hyung, then I'm in no danger.''

No, Namjoon wouldn't say he is muscled but rather well-proportioned. His mother often told him when he was young that he needs to keep the perfect balance between his mind and his body, because only then would he feel good. And she was right. Whenever he neglects one, the other sufferers as well. If he fills his mind with more and more knowledge, as his photographic memory allowed him, he grows lazier to move. And yet, if he spends his days only in the gym, his mind grows restless and he can't sleep. His body would be tired, but his mind buzzing. Hence, the balance is necessary.

He rubs his face feeling tired. He needs sleep, but not just yet. He looks at the clock once again – it was 2:53, just seven more minutes and he will move. He loved when numbers get round. He loved the perfect synchronicity. The numbers, nature, art, words, everything. His natural perfectionism was excellent in a long run but drove Dong-ho insane. They would often argue because of that. Dong-ho was the branch leader of the huge ''Organization'' they were part of, all thanks to their dear papa.

The ''Organization'' was huge and powerful. It originates somewhere in Europe. Their name, however, was unoriginal, but it does allow them to blend in more easily. Originally, they started as something positive, as peacekeepers, defenders of freedom, art lovers, harbouring the old values, modern inventions and knowledge above all. The organization that works from the shadows to help and uphold mankind and protect what's good in this World. But even in the good cause, there are rotten seeds. The secret society existed for almost two centuries before it began to waver. The small branches came from it, spreading all across the globe, which expanded the idea, but at the same time twisted it for their own gain. And their father got into the worst of them.

This branch was driven by profit and power. Their leader Dong-ho was ruthless. He was smart, cruel and ambitious, and was the only South Korean leader of his own branch. Usually, the foreigners were on the top, but he managed to dig his way up. And he played his game carefully, He knew exactly how to cover their tracks and show loyalty towards the main leaders in Europe while conducting his secret business under their noses without their knowledge. Dong-ho was dangerous, very dangerous and he hated disloyal people. He was also very perceptive and with the smallest whiff of betrayal and he strikes. His nickname was the Viper, but Jin refused to call him that, insisting on the first name basis as it put them on somewhat equal footing. Namjoon and Tae followed his suit, but with more ''respect'' as the hierarchy demanded, and more hate than Jin could allow himself.

Dong-ho kept them close, recognizing Jin's talents. He was not so patient with his siblings at first, but Jin made sure to emphasize how important they are even if a bit young. – '' They are both very useful to me, so you will leave them in my charge.'' – Jin said with his head held high, considering he just turned nineteen, but already proved his worth to Dong-ho.

Namjoon would never forget the downplayed smirk Dong-ho gave to Jin. Namjoon's insides cured in anger, he wanted to punch the man.

-'' You talk like you have any power, any choice.'' – Dong-ho sneered. – '' You don't. Neither of you doesn't. You belong to me, and you will do as I say.'' – He was in Jin's face, standing so close to him. His posture was intimidating as he was bigger and older than Jin for several years. Jin, however, didn't move a muscle but managed to stay perfectly calm.

He spoke in a light, but respectful manner. – '' Have we ever caused you trouble?'' –Jin asked, his voice serious. –'' Have I or my brothers ever questioned your leadership? Your orders?''

Dong-ho looks at him carefully for a moment or two and then smiled. – ''No, I can't say you have.'' – He moved back. – '' You were surprisingly calm and accepting of the entire ordeal. Something your father should have learned from you.''

He moves to leave, but before he walks through the door he turned to look at Jin once more. – ''You just make sure they don't get in the way.'' – He points toward Taehyung and Namjoon. – ''Or I'll deal with them personally.'' – He finishes, flashing them a warning look before his eyes go to Jin's.

Jin's face was a mask of indifference.

-'' Don't worry, they won't be.'' – He says in his cool way.

Jin managed to protect them for a while until that bloody incident. One of Dong-ho's closest men was harassing him and Taehyung for a long time. He didn't do it to Jin though. Even he, although unwillingly, had some wretched respect and hate towards him. Jin oozed confidence and intelligence and if he was afraid of Dong-ho, he never showed it. Jin was always careful with his words, and with his actions. What Namjoon witnessed in the past few years was his older brother's complete transformation. From goofy and relaxed Hyung who loved to make their mother laugh, to this calm and calculated person that Namjoon barely recognized anymore. Even so, Namjoon never questioned orders from Jin. Neither was Tae, even though the two often got into arguments.

Whenever there was trouble brewing somewhere Jin would intercept it and calm things down before it even began. It took Namjoon a long time to realize how big of a sacrifice Jin took to protect them and their name. Namjoon wanted to run away, live in nature if he has to, or move to some other place, but Jin was right. They would find them and capture them, or worse because Dong-ho hated when his ''belongings'' try to escape, and they were that, weak, poor and scared. But not Jin though. He was the one standing with his head high and Namjoon understood why he insisted on keeping his name and the image their father had in the outside world. Because Kim Enterprise was known and respectful, Jin had plans to make it even more so.

Even though the insane sum of money their father owed to the ''Organization'', he didn't allow them to take their possessions or their business. Sensing that something might happen to him, their father made sure that the company passes to his eldest son. He arranged with his lawyers that his debts will be transferred as well. Jin's inheritance was only on papers. It was practically non-existing, only the name. They had no money, and all those so–called-family-friends turned their back on them. The only living member from their mother's side also died, leaving behind his widow and a five-year-old son, but they were not in the position to help them either. Jin didn't want them involved in this. However, their family business remained and Jin stubbornly fought to keep it from the ''Organization'' and their own government as well. Perhaps more for their grandfather's sake.

-'' Why do you care so much?'' – Namjoon yelled one time they were alone. – '' Why do you care about our stupid name and business!? Let all go to hell!''

-'' No!'' – Jin hissed.

-'' Why?! Why do you care!? Why!?'' – Namjoon insisted. – ''We could go, and be free. Start new life...''

-'' No.'' – Jin answered a bit softer this time.

-'' Why, Hyung? Help me to understand!''

-'' Because I don't want to run.'' – Jin says in his patient voice, calming down the anger he felt. – '' Because I don't want to allow our father to dictate our lives from his grave.''

-'' But, Hyung, he's dead. He can't hurt us, nor keep us up to stay to fix his mess.'' – Namjoon's voice calmed as well, became much quieter.

Jin sighed and shook his head before looking at Namjoon and placing his palms on his brother's cheeks.

- '' Joonie, they will never leave us alone. Dong-ho will never leave us alone. I refuse to run, to hide, to constantly look behind my shoulder.''

-'' I will get us new names, passports, ID. Hyung, you know I can do it. I will make sure to leave no trace.'' – Namjoon tries again.

-'' No, Namjoon, no.'' – Jin says firmly, tightening his hands on Namjoon's face slightly. –'' I never doubt you can't do it. I know you can. You are the smartest person I know. The pure genius with the computers, but they have contacts, they have the money, they have power and they will find us.''

-'' Hyung, you know Dong-ho will never leave us alone even if we pay our father's debt to him.'' – Namjoon casts his eyes down and Jin hugs him closely.

-'' I know. Of course, I know. We are more valuable to him than that stupid debt.'' – Jin rocked Namjoon slightly in his arms.

Namjoon's face was hidden in the crook of Jin's neck and shoulder. – '' That's because you had to be perfect.'' – He said in a muffled tone.

Jin's body was shaken with sudden laughter. – '' Oh, well... I had to make sure he sees something he could use, which would allow me to maintain some control, and protect you and Tae.''

At that Namjoon leaned back to look at his brother. –'' Rocco is been harassing Tae again.''

Jin's brows furrow. – '' I thought he went with Dong-ho.''

-'' He did.'' – Namjoon nodded. – ''But he came back to pick something up. I found him cornering Tae in the hall.''

Jin growled at that.-'' What did he do to him?''

-'' Nothing because I came. He was annoyed, I can see that. He insulted me like he always does and leaves.'' – Jin's face hardens even more. Namjoon hurries to reassure him. – '' I don't mind it. He is an idiot, his words mean nothing to me, but Hyung, I don't like the way he looks at Tae. He looks at him like...like he wants...''

-'' To devour him?'' – Jin offered and Namjoon nods again.

-'' Yes. I don't like it, Hyung. Taehyung is just a kid. He's barely sixteen.''

-'' I know, I know. I don't like that either, but Tae is growing fast and he will be beautiful as mum.'' – Jin nods to himself, stepping away from Namjoon to pass around the room in slow steps.

Namjoon observed him. – '' And so what? We just let it be?''

Jin turns sharply at that to stare at his sibling. – '' No! Of course not.''- He rubs his face as he was thinking. –'' We need to deal with it carefully.'' – He says. – ''If it was anyone else from Dong-ho's men, it will be quite easy to dispose of them, but it's Rocco, his inner circle man. He trusts him, and believe me, Dong-ho cares not about Taehyung.''

-'' I know he doesn't.'' – Namjoon grumbles with quiet rage in his chest. – '' But I will kill him myself if he touches him.''

-'' Don't talk nonsense, Joon. You will do nothing. Let me deal with it.'' – Jin says dismissively and Namjoon hated it.

-'' I'm not useless, Hyung! Let me help you!''

-'' You are useless to me, Joon, if you allow your emotions to get better of you.'' – Jin says firmly. His gaze was boring into Namjoon's soul. Namjoon always disliked how easily his brothers could read him. Taehyung was so gentle when he does that, it's almost pleasurable, but Jin... Jin was rough and definite. Sometimes, Namjoon could barely breathe when he does that.

-'' I can control myself as much as you.'' – Namjoon says acidly. Jin just smirked.

-'' You are boiling, Joonie. You are like dynamite. Your fuse was burning for the past several years and I'm just waiting for you to explode.'' – Jin says with sad eyes. He went to his brother, cupping his face in his palm, brushing the place his dimple would usually show with his thumb, before continuing gently. – ''Let Hyung deal with that. I will not allow anything to happen to you both.''

Rocco left them be, for the time being. Namjoon still didn't know what Jin did, but for a while, they lived in a false sense of security. One day, however, things changed. Namjoon noticed that Taehyung grew quieter. He was always busy, running somewhere and Namjoon grew worried.

He was always feeling extra protective toward Taehyung. Well, both of his brothers, but Taehyung the most, maybe because Namjoon was his Hyung and he took that very seriously.

One day he decides to follow him. They were in Dong-Ho's headquarters, which was nothing strange cos they often used Tae as a courier. It was a big place, two stories building, nicely decorated and furnished. Dong-ho stayed there most of the time when dealing business and Jin was often with him. Not because he wanted it, but because he had to, and Namjoon knew that.

Once inside, Namjoon lost his brother, so he went looking for him. He passed the doors in the hall when he heard the muffled scream and grunts. Namjoon didn't think, he just burst into the room and froze.

Taehyung was on the floor, chest down, his lips bruised and bloodied, and his shirt ripped so much that it barely held on to his body. Rocco was on him, his pants unbuttoned, and the swelling of his member was visible as his hands tried to hold trashing Taehyung and rip the rest of his clothes.

Namjoon saw red and he ran into the room. He doesn't know what happened. The rage hit him and he could only hear the boiling of his own blood, rushing to his head. The pure hate and rage towards the man were taking over him, and Namjoon just began to hit him again and again, and again.

He didn't hear Taehyung screaming at him to stop, nor did he feel his weak hands trying to pull him away. No, Namjoon just had the target in front of him, and it was still moving, still trying to fight back. He mustn't stop until it stops struggling. Once it stops then he can't hurt them anymore, right?

It was only when the pair of much stronger hands wrapped around him that he was yanked back. He trashed, trying to break free, but the arms felt like iron. He growled and panted like the animal, until finally, as barely a whisper at first and then becoming louder and louder, his brother's voice came to his consciousness.

-'' Joonie, calm down. Please, calm down. It's alright. He is down, he can't hurt you. Calm down.'' – Seokjin chanted in his ear in an urgent calming voice. –'' It's okay. Taehyung is okay. Calm down. Back off!'' – He yelled at Dong-ho's men who were approaching them. Taehyung buried his face into Namjoon's other side, saying the calming words as well, but Namjoon had trouble hearing them. It was when Dong-Ho entered the room that he finally stilled, eyes wide and alarmed.

Their leader came closer to where Rocco was laying on the floor. His face was almost unrecognizable and deformed from Namjoon's punches. Dong-Ho narrows his eyes and scowls towards them, quickly checking the situation. Taehyung ripped clothes and half-naked form, bloody lip, and Rocco's unbuttoned pants gave him the explanation itself pretty much.

He looks at Rocco. – '' Ah, Rocco. You just had to try and do it, didn't you?''

He chuckles darkly, glancing towards Jin wrapped around his brother's now still form, and then back at Rocco, who was jerking slightly, his breathing heavy and hard since the blood kept pouring down his throat. He sounded like a nearly dead animal gasping for air.

-'' You should be grateful that Seokjin didn't allow his brother to kill you.'' – Dong-ho said to Rocco coldly. -'' It's very gallant of him.'' – He continues. – ''Especially since you tried to kill him and to rape his brother when I specifically told you to leave them alone.'' – He was staring at Rocco's bloodied body on the floor with disgust.

Kill him? Kill who? Him or Jin? Namjoon pondered, eyes wild as he shook from anger. Jin's arms were firm around him, trying to keep him still, calm down the furious dog. Tae's hands were on his face, Namjoon could feel them now, caressing his temples with his thumbs, as his body clings to him. Namjoon didn't look at them, no. He looked at Dong-ho, following his every move.

The man was circling Rocco's pathetic form. Namjoon really beat him to a pulp. He lost control, there will be consequences. Jin will have trouble because of him, and he and Tae will be sent away, or worse. They might kill him or lock him away. Namjoon felt shame and panic, but the presence of his brothers prevented him from losing his shit again.

-'' You know I don't like disobedience, don't you?'' – Dong-ho spoke nudging the man's thigh with his boot. – '' I really don't. But even that could be trained. Punishment is the perfect way for learning obedience.'' – He tilts his head to see him better as Rocco barely breathe from the blood. –'' He did you good.'' – He says appreciatively. He looks at Namjoon then, and it was as if he sees him in another light. His eyes return to Rocco. – '' He did a really good job, thorough, raw. It lacks finesse, but the power is here. He would have killed you.'' – He tsked his tongue several times. – '' I told you to leave the little bitch alone, didn't I?''

Namjoon tensed even more. He meant Tae. He thought. The little bitch he mentioned, he meant Tae.

-'' Calm the fuck down.'' – Jin warns him ever so quietly in his ear, tightening his arms as he held Namjoon's form. Luckily for Jin, Namjoon was much thinner back then.

-'' But you just couldn't listen, couldn't you?'' – Dong-ho was still talking to the man on the floor. He kicked Rocco hard on the side when he didn't answer right away. – '' I asked you a question!'' – The man whined then and Dong-ho spat on him. – '' You are pathetic.''- He leaned down in a crouch. – '' I'm very disappointed in you Rocco. I was ready to deal with your personal preferences.'' – He looks at Taehyung. – ''Your perversions. No matter how disgusting they are.''

-'' Help me.'' – Rocco croaked weakly. – ''P-please.''

-'' Help you?''- Dong-ho smirked. – '' You did this to yourself.'' – He says and stood up. He approached the brothers. – '' I should avenge you, don't I?'' – He says to Rocco, pulling the gun and pointing straight at Namjoon's head.

-'' Dong-ho-ssi, no!'' – Jin says before he can stop himself, and Dong-ho's gun went to Jin's head instead. He arched his eyebrows at Jin.

-'' Are you disobeying me as well, Seokjin?'' – He asks.

-'' No.'' – Jin answers right away. –'' I never did, Namjoon didn't as well. He was just protecting our brother.''

-'' Hmmm...'' – Dong-ho hums, eyes glinting. They switch on Taehyung small form and fly over his entire half-naked body. He moves the gun under Taehyung's chin to raise his head. – '' So much trouble for a little bitch.'' – He says.

Jin closes his eyes as the dread rushes toward him. Just as he was afraid, Taehyung opened his mouth.

-'' The only bitch here is him.'' – Taehyung nods towards Rocco, eyes not leaving Dong-ho's face. He arches his brow. – '' You don't hear me begging and crying.''

Jin groans quietly, but Dong-ho hears him. He grins evilly at him. – '' Not disobedient, huh Seokjin?'' – He cocks the gun.

-'' Please, don't.'' – Jin says quietly.

-'' Quiet!'' – Barks Dong-ho.

Jin closed his mouth right away. Namjoon just stood silent, at the edge of his control, fear for his brother was the only thing that kept him still, but Tae... Tae was staring at Dong-ho coldly.

-'' If it's gonna make you feel better then kill me.''- The young boy says in a tone so similar to Jin's that made Namjoon shudder. The only difference was the velvety baritone Taehyung got once he hit puberty. – '' But just know that you will be losing a valuable asset.''

Dong-ho snorted. – ''What assets? You? Give me a break, you are just trouble.'' – He says, tapping Taehyung in the chest with the gun.

Taehyung smirks.

-'' Taehyung.'' – Jin warns, but Tae doesn't care anymore.

-'' Do you really think Rocco did all those things himself? All that intel you so valued?'' – Taehyung arched his brow in question. – '' He turns out to be so useful, all of a sudden, didn't he?''

Dong-ho narrowed his eyes. –'' Explain.'' - He ordered in a sly voice, his gun dragging softly on Taehyung skin, up to his left cheek.

-'' He harassed Namjoon and me often enough to realize what use he could have from us.'' – Taehyung explained. – '' You see, while you were busy with Jin Hyung, Namjoon and I were observing. If I may?'' – He bendsto reach his backpack, discarded not too far from them, when Dong-ho growled, grabbing him on the throat and pulling him out of reach of his brothers. Both Jin and Namjoon moved to intervene.

-'' Move and he is dead!'' – That froze both brothers on the spot. Dong-ho turned to Taehyung pressing his windpipe harder, the gun pointed at Taehyung's temple. –'' Now, get to the point, boy!''

-'' I n-need my b-backpack to s-show you w-what's in...inside.'' – Tae barely spoke, the hand was crushing his windpipe. Dong-Ho just digs his gun deeper into Taehyung's skin, eyes not moving from Tae's, searching for a lie, for fear, but if Taehyung was afraid, he didn't show it.– '' Do you m-mind easing up your hold, it's k-kind of hard t-to explain that way.'' – Tae grunts.

Dong-ho's eyes narrowed, but he saw the logic behind Taehyung's words. He eases the grip around the boy's throat and hisses. – '' Get on with it.''

Taehyung nods, grateful. He rubs his neck, gulps for the air and then starts talking, his voice a bit hoarse. –'' Rocco has been pestering me and Namjoon for the fun of it, and I had it enough. So I started following him. He had no idea I had my eyes on him. And I think this is something you want to see.'' – He reaches inside the backpack only to have Dong-Ho's hand wrapped against his wrist, pulling it out.

-'' I will do it.'' – He says and reaches in. Taehyung watched him pulling out a hat, which he tossed away, and then the CD player which he also negligently drops hard on the floor. It breaks and the pieces fly everywhere. The corner of Tae's lip twitches in anger. Dong-Ho was challenging him, testing his level of control, waiting for a chance to destroy him in the smallest defiance. His fingers touch another solid thing, and he pulls out a camera.

-'' Do not break it, it's on it.'' - Taehyung says quickly, so Dong-Ho wouldn't break another of his things. -'' May I?'' – He reaches toward the camera with his hand, but never touches it.

There was some half-a minute silence when no one moved. The only sounds were Rocco's hard and painful breathing. Finally, Dong-Ho places the camera in Taehyung's palm, his gun still pointed at the young man's head.

Taehyung turns it on and taps a few times before placing it back to Dong-Ho and pressing play. He knew what he will see. He watched those videos several times just to be sure. Ever since the man began to harass them Taehyung has been following and filming. Namjoon expertise allowed him access to their cameras and Taehyung had everything he needed to fuck this man's life completely.

-'' As you can see, dear Rocco was quite busy lately.'' – Taehynug said in a sly tone, both Namjoon and Jin stared at him in shock. They had no idea what Taehyung was doing in his free time.

In one clip there was Rocco talking shit about Dong-ho.

-'' He thinks he's clever. He thinks he's the best, but I'm telling you, he is full of shit.''

Rocco was filmed in a café. The camera was probably hidden in a small bag that rested on the table.

-'' Who is?'' - The soft male voice spoke but was out of the camera's shot.

-'' Don't be dumb and pay attention to what I say.''

-'' Oh, don't be mad, please.'' – The voice whined and a small hand came to caress Roccos's shirt and his chest. – '' You know I tend to get stupid when I'm with you. The things you do to me. '' – He made a needy sound.

Dong-ho made a disgusting face while watching the video, but didn't stop.

-'' Is that so?'' – The Rocco from the video says.

– '' Mhm.'' – The man agreed, his voice quiet. His hand began slipping down Rocco's chest. – '' I want you.''

-'' Behave, baby, we are out in public. We need to be careful.'' – Rocco says, stopping the man's hand and looking around. – ''Dong-ho's spies are everywhere. He still rules, but soon, he will fall, and his new pet with him, and then we won't have to hide.''

-'' Pet?'' - The man asked curiously.

-'' That bastard, Kim Seokjin, the rich guy.'' – Rocco almost spits his name. – '' I bet he's fucking him, and here he calls me perverted.'' – Rocco laughed on the recording. Dong-Ho's eyes narrowed in fury, a growl leaving his throat.

-'' Once I get my stuff in order, he is going down, together with his bitch.'' – Rocco on the camera smirked, the man's hand gliding on his thigh. Rocco was utterly unaware that he was being filmed. He also wasn't aware of the expert information technique it was used on him. Rocco smiled seductively. – '' I might keep the youngest one. He's pretty.''

-'' Prettier than me?'' – The voice spoke, and you can hear a pout in the voice.

Rocco smiled and leaned closer. – '' No, baby. You are the prettiest.'' – Which produced the giggle and the slight squeak in the voice of the other man.

That was the first time Namjoon heard Jimin's voice. How exactly did Tae find him Namjoon never knew, but he was aware of what happened to him. Jimin was a child from the streets and was too gentle and pretty for his own good. He was too young to legally work in the strip club he was staying, the girls there took care of him, but the manager found other use for him, often sending him to be an errand boy and most of the time he was parading him on the secret private parties where orgies were held. The man never allowed anyone to touch Jimin, but to ogle him, yes.

He would dress him like a doll in a nice childlike dress and shoes. Sometimesthat would be the simple little boy's clothes. On others, the blond wig with twoponytails that surrounded Jimin's chubby cheeks. His plump lips had the faintest amount of rouge, as well as his cheekbones, so he could look healthy and young. Namjoon wished he had never seen that video of Jimin he found online when he was checking his background. The boy would just sit pretty, like a doll, sucking on his lollipop, his legs slightly separated as the pleasure sounds and grunts from the men around him could be heard.

Jimin told Namjoon later on that they never touched him, just watched him. Still, even to this day, it gave them both creeps whenever they would remember it.

Both Seokjin and he accepted Jimin quickly afterwards and Jimin and Tae became inseparable. Jin did insist that they be discreet so people would not use that against them for the time being. He also paid for Jimin's schooling and welcomed him into their home for a while, until he arranged a place for him. And Namjoon did everything in his power to remove any trace of old Jimin from the net. He was glad Jimin's chubby cheeks disappeared because his entire face changed, which made his old image untraceable to the present Park Jimin. Still, the threat remained and Namjoon was following everything just in case something from the past appear.

Fast forward to the story, Rocco wasn't lucky. The gun that was pointed at Taehyung's head moved across the room and dozens of bullets were shot into the bloody mess on the floor. Namjoon felt Jin jerked with each blast. He himself felt fear even though the adrenalin was still pulsing through his veins, but Taehyung.... Taehyung had that satisfactorily smile on his face that didn't slip when Dong-ho's eyes fell on him again.

-'' You.'' – Dong-ho began, but Taehyung cuts him.

-'' You're welcome.''

The room was quiet. Dong-ho's men glanced amongst each other in shock, eyes wide as they glued on Taehyung. The audacity to speak so freely to their leader, not even Jin tried. Taehyung was foolish. Unpredictable and wild. Too brave and cocky for his own good. He didn't even flinch when the shooting started.

-'' You have even more snakes in your midst.'' – Taehyung continues. –'' Time for spring cleaning, don't you think?''

Don-ho slapped him across the face so hard that Taehyung fell to the ground.

-'' Mind your tongue, bitch. And better learn your place. Seokjin did a poor job teaching you that.'' – He looks at Jin then. – '' You and I will talk some more. The information you had was confirmed. And if you claim that he is good as you say he is...'' – He looks at Namjoon. – '' Then I'll have use of him.'' – He glances at Taehyung who stared daggers at him, but have the common sense to lower his gaze to the ground.

-'' Find some work for him. He has too much free time. – '' Dong-ho grabs Taehyung on his hair and yanks harshly making the young man scream out in pain. – '' Make sure you beat up some senses in that thick skull of his. His attitude needs readjusting.'' – Dong-ho pushes him to the floor and looks at Jin again. – '' Fix it. I don't want to see disobedience in him again. Are we clear?'' – He asks.

Jin nods quickly. – '' Perfectly clear.''

Namjoon rubbed his eyes tiredly, staring at his office which was filled with screens and equipment, thinking about how they got here from those first terrible years in the Dong-ho's tyranny.

After that incident, all three of them sat down and talked for the first time without any secrets. All in the open. It took Jin quite some time to trust Tae's judgement completely since their youngest brother had an ''out of this world'' view of life. But they learn how to utterly trust one another and to lean on whenever they need support. Jin didn't carry all of the burdens on his shoulders anymore, Taehyung learned how to calm down and think before he acts, and Namjoon learned how to control his emotions better. He wouldn't manage without the two.

Dong-ho still continued to use them. They paid off their fathers' debt a long time ago, but now, Dong-ho insisted that they owed him for all the training he gave them. He invested in them, as he said, and now awaits to pick up the products, which meant that Jin had to organize several other heists for some treasure or something.

The only thing Dong-Ho did allow is for them to expand their public business. Jin made ''Kim Enterprise'' even bigger and more popular. They also opened ''Kim Security'' where they offered the best protection and security to anyone with money. As well as multiply charities and small businesses. Jin made his goal to become worldwide known.

-'' The more famous we are, the harder we are to get rid off.'' – He says one day when Namjoon grumbled about his unwanted fame. Namjoon didn't want fame. He didn't want people. He just wanted his brothers, dog and his computers and his nature...and books, don't forget the books. Often he would re-read the book even though he knew every word on every page by heart. He still enjoyed holding it and reading it slowly, so he could feel like a normal human being with feelings and not some computer freak, as Dong-ho called him. Although, as the years passed by, Dong-ho changed his attitude towards Kims, because not only did they help him clean the snitches in his ranks, but they also never tried to question his leadership. They did draw the line at the drugs and gambling part of the business and stayed focused on heists, robbery, copying the arts and jewels. Technically, Taehyung was still Jin's ''errand boy'' when he did his work for Dong-Ho. They managed to hide Taehyung's skill for themselves. And ever since then, Taehyung lived many lives, under many names and many disguises, besides his own. This way, they have some freedom that they didn't before, all thanks to Jin.

It was a tough and dangerous life they led, and Namjoon was very afraid for his little brother, but Taehyung's energy and optimism would always calm him down. He needed his brother right now.

Standing up from his chair he stretched again, letting a groan of relief as the blood in his body started rushing. He went up the stairs, towards their rooms. Taehyung had his apartment he shared with Jimin, but more than often he would crash at Kim's residence.

-'' In case someone is checking on us.'' – Jin said, always alerted to any possibility. – ''It's for the best if you sleep at home from time to time, pretending you still live here.''

-'' Fine, Hyung.'' – Taehyung agreed.

Namjoon always loved when Tae was home. Even if he preferred being alone, Namjoon loved being close to them. There was a light in Tae's room and his heart jumped in joy. He knocked.

-'' Yeah?''

-'' Can I come in?'' – Namjoon asked.

-'' Always, Hyungie.'' – Namjoon answered and stepped into the room, leaving the door ajar. Taehyung was lying on his bed, the phone in his hands, while some relaxing jazz music played in the background.

-'' What's up?'' – He asks, but Namjoon only shook his head and went to lie next to him, burying his face in Tae's chest. That made Taehyung chuckle affectionately and wrap one hand on Namjoon's shoulder.

Namjoon was not usually for cuddles, but from time to time he craved it, and the brothers knew better than to question it, and simply hold him tight.

They lay like that for a while in silence. Tae continued watching something on his phone, while Namjoon listen to his heartbeat, relaxing more and more.

-'' Do you remember when Jin Hyung wrote a song?'' – Namjoon asked after a while. The image of their mother swirling in his head. Taehyung stopped what he was doing and then his body started to shake as he chuckled in amusement.

-'' Supertuna?'' – Ha asks, and Namjoon felt his cheeks spread in a wide smile.

-'' It was a gift for mum. He wrote the lyrics, and made the choreography.'' – Namjoon adds.

This time Taehyung was gigling. –'' He made us learn the moves. He was so cross when I kept messing the steps.''

Namjoon chuckles. – '' You were seven, and you wanted to dance something of your own. But mum liked it. She laughed so much.''

-'' He even sang the music, but it kept messing with the lyrics.'' – Taehyung adds, placing down his phone as they both laugh at the memory. – '' Ah, I miss those times. We were so safe and happy.''

The smile on Namjoon's face faltered until it grew solemn. – '' I believe we will be safe and happy again.'' – He says. – '' I believe in Jin Hyung.''

-'' I believe in him too.'' – Taehyung agrees. – '' I just wish I can know for certain how long we have to wait. A year, two, five, ten, or more...'' - He says a bit bitterly, and then sighs audibly.

-'' Hey, was there a cuddle meeting and I missed the memo?'' – Seokjin's voice came from the door.

His hair was damp from the shower he had just taken. He wore silky blue pyjamas, looking soft.

-'' Hyung, come and cuddle.''- Taehyung urged him with his hand and Jin went across the room and neatly throw himself over both of them, making Namjoon groan when he, accidentally, elbowed him in the stomach.

-'' Aish, Hyung.''

Jin laughed, brushing his fingers through Namjoon's hair. – ''Sorry Joonie.''

-'' We were just talking about the ''Supertuna.'' – Taehyung says, grinning wide.

-'' Super what?'' – Jin asked, looking confused.

-'' Your song, Hyung.'' – Namjoon reminds him. – '' The one you wrote when you were twelve.''

The tips of Jin's ears grew red as he buried his head between their bodies and groaned. – '' I was hoping you forgot about it.''

Both Taehyug and Namjoon laughed.

-'' I literally can't forget anything, Hyung.'' – Namjoon says. – '' I remember every word, every move, every scold and mum's laugh. It was so funny.''

-'' I wish I can remember her laugh.'' – Taehyung says sadly. – '' It was too long ago, but I will always remember her hugs.''

Jin raised his head at that. – '' She always gave the best hugs.''

-'' She did.'' – Namjoon agrees.

They grew silent. Jin leaned his head on Namjoon's side, hooking his leg around Tae's.

-'' I have a meeting with Dong-Ho, tomorrow.'' – Jin speaks after a while. His brothers hum in acknowledgement.

-'' Is it about what happened?'' – Taehyung asks. – '' Do you want me to come with you?''

-'' No, no, it's alright. I can manage. And yes, it's about that. This gallery scandal thing stopped a lot of his plans. People are concerned, so naturally, he wants to talk.''

He turns his head up to look at Namjoon. – '' What do we have from the police? How far are they?''

Namjoon rubs his forehead, taking a breath. –'' Well, they have the case well in hand, but Jimin is working on the defence for the gallery owner, so that's almost settled nicely. The artist has been sent safely home, and no one knows about Tae's involvement.''

-'' Good.'' – Jin says and then flicks the side of Taehyung's head with his finger. The latter just grins.

-'' Aaah, I'm so tired.'' - Jin stretches loudly. – '' I'm going to bed. You two should too.'' – He says, raising himself on his knees, ruffling their hairs with both of his hands and leaving the bed.

-'' We already are.'' – Namjoon says, grinning when Jin smacks his ass.

-'' Smartass.'' – He grumbles.

-'' Hyung, could you cover us with the blanket, please.'' – Taehyung asked pouting.

Jin did without a word and then turned, turn down the lamp near the door so only the one next to the bed was on, wish them good night and went out closing the door.

-'' Stay with me tonight.'' – Taehyung says and Namjoon just hums, making himself more comfortable. He enjoyed the warmth and intimacy. He felt safe and secured in his brother's embrace. He felt his eyes dropping and his breathing slowing down. He doesn't remember exactly when he fell asleep, only the gentle arms that hugged him close.

______________________________________________

Alright, I know that Namjoon is not much into cuddling in real life, but we all need it sometimes. Here, we had some serious history in this chapter, which explains a lot about what kind of predicament the brothers are in and why a lot of stuff that we will read later in the story happened the way it happened.

I hope this chapter wasn't too dark for you, and that you enjoyed it, even though it lacks plenty of dialogue. Until Tuesday, lots of love, my darlings 💜💜💜💜
