Jay woke up the next morning with Nya sleeping right next to him.  He smiled as he remembered the events of the previous night including their kiss.  It was his first kiss and it was so perfect.  He quietly got out of bed and walked to the living room where Lloyd and Cole were and they both smirked at him when he entered.

"So, how was last night?" Lloyd asked.

"What do you mean?" Jay played dumb.

"We're talking about you and Nya," Cole said.

"After you guys fell asleep, we just talked for a little while.  I might have told her about my backstory and then there might have been a kiss."

"You guys kissed?!" Lloyd said.

"Nice work," Cole added.

"Whatever," Jay said and rolled his eyes.  "Yes, last night was amazing and yes, it was probably the best night of my life, but you guys don't need to make a big deal out of it."

"You two have been dancing around your feelings for each other for over a month," Cole said.  "It's about time you both owned up to your feelings."

Jay was about to say something, but the three boys heard footsteps coming up the stairs.  The only people who would go in there are the three of them and Nya who they knew was asleep in Jay's room.  As the footsteps got closer, a canister got tossed into the room and tear gas exploded out of it.  The three boys started coughing and their eyes started tearing up as police started to enter the room.  "Get down with your hands in the air!" they yelled.  The police were wearing gas masks to protect them from the tear gas.  Jay, Lloyd, and Cole put their hands in the air and got down on their knees as best as they could with the tear gas in the room.  When the police got to the three boys, they shoved them down onto their stomachs and started putting them in handcuffs.

Nya heard the commotion and came into the living room and immediately started coughing from the tear gas.  She looked up and noticed the police there.  "What's going on in here?" she asked and started running up to them, but she got grabbed.  She looked at who grabbed her and noticed that it was her brother who was also wearing a gas mask.  "Kai?!  Let me go!"

"No can do, sis," Kai said.  "The emperor and empress would like to speak to you."

"No!  Kai, please let me go!"  She looked back over to the three boys and more specifically the one she had kissed.  "Jay!"  Jay lifted his head up when he heard Nya's voice.  He had some trouble seeing her, but he managed to find where she was and saw someone was holding her.  Their eyes locked and Nya could see the fear in Jay's eyes.

The police lifted the three boys to their feet.  "You ratted us out!" Cole yelled at Nya.

"No, I didn't!" Nya yelled back in tears.  "I would never!"

"She's telling the truth," Kai said.  "She didn't say anything about you guys."

Nya glared up at her brother who was still holding her to make sure she didn't go running to the boys.

Jay, Lloyd, and Cole were taken to jail while Nya was taken to the palace.  Kai accompanied her as they walked inside.  Nya didn't want to go in, but she didn't really have a choice at the moment considering that there were guards around them to make sure that Nya didn't try to run away.  When they walked in, Nya saw the emperor and empress on their thrones and Princess Harumi was also with them.  Ray and Maya were standing off to the side.

Nya could see that the emperor was angry.  The emperor looked over to her parents.  "How did you two raise such a disobedient girl?" he said.  "I thought you two would've taught her to mind her own business."

"We did," Ray said.  "At least, we thought we did."  He sent a disappointed look towards his daughter.  "We didn't know that she was involved in this."

"Maybe next time you two will keep a better eye on her.  You're lucky that I'm keeping my end of our agreement and there will be no punishment for her unlike the other three."

Nya's eyes went wide and she looked over to her parents.  Their agreement has something to do with her?  Kai also looked confused by the emperor's last statement.

"If she does this again, we won't be able to save her from punishment," the emperor added.

"Of course, your majesty," Ray said and bowed while Maya did a curtsy.

"Leave!" the emperor ordered.

Kai, Nya, Ray, and Maya all left.  After they walked down the hall a bit, Nya spoke up.  "What was that all about?!" she asked her parents.

"What was that all about?!" Ray said.  "What about you being part of the Truth Seekers?!"

"What about you guys knowing about everything the emperor and empress have done and just letting them do it?!  And what about this deal you have with them?!"

"Shhhh," Maya said.  "Keep your voices down."  She looked to her husband.  "We need to tell them."  She then looked to her kids.  "The deal we have with them is that if we keep their secrets, you two will be protected."

"What secrets are you hiding for them?" Nya asked.

"We do know about them killing people, but there's a bigger secret," Maya began.  "The emperor and empress were part of the resistance that fought against Lord Garmadon.  Your father and I were also.  So were a couple of my close friends, Libber and Lily.  One night, we stormed the palace to dethrone the dictator once and for all.  It was a tough battle.  We didn't notice at first that the person who would become the emperor had snuck away from the main battle and went to the throne room.  Libber was the first to notice and ran after him.  She saw Lord Garmadon was about to kill him and killed the dictator before that could happen.  She was in shock after that happened and didn't see the knife that the person who would become the emperor was holding.  He killed her.  Libber's husband, Cliff who was a famous actor, also helped out the resistance.  He was with us that night and came into the throne room as his wife was being killed.  The person who would become the empress came in and killed him too.  She and her husband knew that he wouldn't be quiet about what happened to his wife.  Your father and I walked in after and we knew what happened.  The future rulers knew that we had two young kids and promised us that they wouldn't come after you guys and give you good lives and protect you if we kept their secret and let them become the rulers.  We honestly should've seen how power hungry they were when they first joined the resistance.  We agreed and tried to get the remaining members of the resistance onboard with it.  Some agreed and some didn't.  Lily knew that there was something suspicious about Cliff and Libber's deaths and vowed to figure out what actually happened, but she wasn't the emperor and empress's main concern.  They knew that Cliff and Libber had a kid that was adopted because Cliff and Libber thought that was safer with what they were doing.  They wanted to locate the kid because they feared what would happen if the kid started looking into what happened to his birth parents.  It took a few years, but they found the couple that adopted him and sent a few royal guards to kill them and the kid, but they didn't check to make sure the kid was in the trailer when they set it on fire."

"Wait," Nya cut off her mom.  "Trailer?  Did this trailer happen to be in a junkyard?"

"Yes," Maya said.  "Why?"

Nya kept a straight face, but inside, she couldn't believe it.  Cliff and Libber were Jay's birth parents.  "No reason.  Continue."

"Ok.  When they checked the trailer, they only found the charred bodies of the couple, not the kid.  The kid lived and the emperor and empress have spent years trying to locate him, but haven't had any luck.  Lily started getting close to figuring out the truth about what happened to Cliff and Libber.  Too close.  The emperor and empress ordered an experimental drug to be used on her.  It was a drug that was created with the purpose of killing a person in a more subtle way.  It just makes them look like they have a deadly disease, so no one will ever know what actually killed them.  She died four years ago."

"I can't believe you," Nya said angrily to her parents.  "This entire time, you knew everything they've done and just stood by and did nothing!  You're both cowards!"

"You have to understand," Ray cut in.  "We did it to protect you both."

"Maybe we don't need protecting anymore."  Nya stormed out.

Maya turned to Kai who had been quiet this whole time.  "Kai-"

Kai cut his mother off.  "I need some time to think," he said and walked off.
