Disappointment

Marinette's POV
As we made our way towards Adrien's house, Alya was attempting to give me a pep talk on talking to Adrien.
"....And all you have to do after that is talk to him... AND DON'T BE NERVOUS!!! He's not going to hurt you." Alya said, basically yelling at me.
"Well, that's easy for you to say. You don't care what people think of you." I said with a small smirk followed by a sigh as I looked at the present in my hands.
"Yeah I do, I just don't give those people the time of day, but I know you can still do this, girl." She said with a confident smile.
"Thanks Alya." I said as we continued to walk

After some time of walking, Alya and I came upon his house; the famous Agreste Mansion. The building was massive, standing taller than even the school did. The warm brown bricks on the exterior glistened in the afternoon sunlight and the windows reflected the rays of sun through the air. The large metal gate in the front looked protective and very unwelcoming, yet it was a piece to admire with the bending and curling of the metal throughout the design of the gate. It was a bit overwhelming.
"Um, maybe this isn't such a good idea Alya..." I said nervously looking at my feet.
"Girl, we came all this way. You can't give up now!" She said and pushed me towards the mailbox in the wall. I pressed the button. Nothing happened.
"Well, guess we can't give it to him now..." I said as I tried to walk away. Alya grabbed me as the mailbox opened and a monitor extended out of the wall.
"Yes?" A voice asked.
"Um, uh Hi! I'm M-Marinette. I'm a classmate of A-Adrien's. I have a gift for his b-birthday." I said.
"Okay. Please drop it in the box." She said in a calm, yet serious tone. "Thank you. Good day." She said and the monitor disappeared back into the wall.
"I did it!" I yelled to Alya. "And you signed it too! I'm so proud! Now we wait!" She said excitedly, the last part ending with a smirk. Finally, I did something right.
<I know she didn't sign it the first time, but I'm trying to progress the story quicker :) >

<After the whole akuma attack. Again, trying not to bore you guys with things you already know :) >
I went to transform back to my normal self, found Alya and walked towards the school again. We talked for a bit before Alya nudged me and looked towards a white limo pulling up in front of the school. My heart began to race again as I saw Adrien emerge with a baby blue scarf wrapped around his neck, draping down over his shirt. I noticed Alya as she looked over at me and smiled and started to walk towards Adrien and now, Nino too. I slowly and nervously followed behind.
"Hey dude, cool scarf!" Alya announced.
"Thanks! It's super nice." He said looking down at it. He then continued, "I can't believe my father got this for me. He's never gotten me a gift like this." Adrien said as he looked down at the scarf again.
At the very least, I could say my heart dropped. It felt as though my heart was being ripped out of my body. I looked over at Alya who gave me a sympathetic look, then turned my attention to the boy in front of me with the blonde hair and green eyes. Tears threatened to fall down my face in a matter of moments.
'Who told him his father gave it to him? It had a note on it, I remembered it! But why would Mr. Agreste do that? Why would he stoop to that level?'
I guess my reaction was a little more noticeable than I had anticipated. Alya, Nino, and Adrien were all looking at me. They all shared the same expressions; confusion and concern.
"Marinette, are you alright? What's wrong?" Adrien asked as he watched me worriedly. I didn't realize the tears streaming down my face. He tried to walk closer, yet I took a step back. I don't know why, but I did.
"Um, uh I...I," I looked around in panic, not knowing how to react. I didn't want to crush his happiness but...I didn't know what to say. "I...uh...I have to go." I yelled as I ran away crying, not caring who saw me or heard me. Everything around me was a blur. I just needed to get out of there.
Narrator POV
"Mari!!!" Adrien yelled, wanting to run after her, but stopped himself. He then turned to Alya. "Alya, is she okay?" He asked concerned.
"Did you not just see her run out of here? OF COURSE SHE'S NOT OKAY!!" Alya yelled at him. "Sorry, sorry... I didn't mean to snap at you, I just hate seeing her upset."
"It's fine, I just want to know what's going on."
"Um, well Adrien...You're dad didn't get you that scarf." Alya said as Adrien looked at her with confusion.
"What do you mean? Natalie told me that my father made this for me. There wasn't a note or anything telling me otherwise."
"There should have been a note... she put one on the package... I watched her do it..." Alya thought to herself in a whisper under her breath.
"What? Alya, I can't hear you." Adrien said stepping closer to her.
"I watched her do it... I watched her put the note on the box." Alya said looking up at Adrien with overwhelming confidence in her eyes.
"Who? What's going on?" Adrien asked, wanting badly to know what is happening to his friend.
"Your father lied to you. I know who made that scarf...It was Marinette."
All there was, was silence. Alya turned to Adrien and a new look of disappointment filled her once confident eyes. Her eyes then darted down to the scarf.
"Oh, she also signed it in the embroidery; look." She said flipping over the scarf and exposing the detailed golden embroidery along the bottom edge. Alya pointed to a specific section of the golden threads. Deep within them, I name could be made out; Marinette.
Adrien's heart dropped. He felt awful for not being able to tell. He should have known. His father would never do anything like that for him.
"I'm going to go find Marinette, see ya later Alya." He said as he ran in the direction as Marinette had earlier.
"How could I do that to her? I'm so sorry Marinette."
