Possible Death
I pulled into the driveway and was relieved to see that my parents weren't home. They really are great people but after talking with Jace all weekend so freely I know that it will help to have some time getting used to lying again.
"I'll see you in the morning," Jace said as he got his duffle out of the back of the car.
"Yeah, but can we go a bit early?" I asked him as I got my backpack.
"Why? It's the first day you can't possibly have any meetings or extra curricular shit yet." Jace rolled his eyes.
"No, they don't start until next week." I smiled. "They like to give us weirdos at least a week to pretend we can have lives outside of school."
"Good. And maybe this year we can actually do things." Jace raised an eyebrow at me.
"Yeah, maybe. I'm definitely going to cut back. But, my dad wants me to get a job or something else stupid like that." I waved my hand in the air.
"Your parents need to chill out. Do they not realize that their baby boy is still a kid?" Jace reached forward and pinched my cheek. I smacked his hand away and glared.
"Anyway, tomorrow?" I scratched my head where there was a little sap from when I kissed Magnus against that tree.
"Yeah, sure, but why?" Jace walked towards his front door.
"Just want to be ready." I smile hoping that he'll accept that.
"Fuck me. It's because of Magnus isn't it?" He shook his head. "I thought you didn't want to be out."
"I don't and I have no idea what you're talking about." I looked around to make sure no one was around included our creepy neighbor, Raj, who never seemed to go anywhere. Jace and I sometimes joked about him being a ghost but one time I ran into him while riding my bike and seeing how I didn't go through him we decided it was unlikely; still possible, but pretty unlikely.
"Bye, Alec." Jace waved with the back of his hand and he walked into his house.
"Bye!" I called out and hurried home. I unlocked the door and ran to my room to shower. When I got into my bathroom I saw the giant bruise on my eye. "How in the hell am I going to explain this?"
I grabbed my phone, that was dead and plugged it in. Once it had enough juice to turn on I called the only person I could think of to help me.
"Ali! How are you?" Izzy yelled so loud that I chucked my phone at the wall and the screen cracked so badly that everything went black. (No joke I've done this except thankfully it didn't kill me phone completely.)
"Shit!" I picked it up and tried smacking it a couple of times. Finally, the screen flashed on and I hit swiped across to call Izzy again.
"Don't scream or whatever. I need your help right now. Please, I have no one else to go to." I pleaded with her and would have been embarrassed with how pathetic I sounded except for the fact that it was my sister, the same girl who insisted on calling me, Ali. Embarrassment had long been lost between us.
"Well, Alexander, you sure know how to get a guy's attention." Magnus's husky voice came over my phone.
"Magnus? Magnus! What the hell are you doing with Izzy?" I demanded.
"Sorry, is this a joke or something? Should I know who or what Izzy is?" He sounded almost as confused as I felt. I looked at the screen but sure enough, it said I was talking to Izzy.
"She's my sister!" I demanded. What the hell was going on?
"Okay? So did you call me to tell me you needed help because of your sister?" Magnus asked.
"What?" I shook my head. Was this some sort of nightmare or something? "No! Why would I do that?"
"I have no idea. You're the one who called me and started going on about your sister."
"No, I called my sister and you answered her phone."
"Why would I have your sister's phone?"
"Exactly! Why do you have her phone!"
"I don't! Sure, my phone is glittery and purple but I assure you it's mine."
"I'm so confused."
"You and me both cupcake."
"Can you get Izzy for me?" I finally asked, still not sure what was going on.
"Where is she?"
"With you, isn't she?"
"No, Alec, I'm at my house on my own damn phone! I don't know your sister. Now do you want my help or not?"
"I want my sister's help."
"Then call her." Magnus let out a frustrated and slightly entertained laugh.
"I did!" I growled.
"Alexander, what do you need help with?"
"Nothing, I'll just call her. Sorry." I hung up and went through my blurry contacts as stripes of black and static swished across my screen.
"Izzy, you'll never believe what just happened! I called the guy that I kissed and I thought it was you so I, well you know actually talked and then I accused him of using your phone and now I don't think he'll ever talk to me again. Like, why would; he I sounded crazy. He probably is going to switch schools and that means I'll never see those beautiful eyes again or that ass. I mean, I didn't actually see it, see it, but you know what I mean. In those jeans, you could tell it was spectacular." I left out a sigh of relief.
"Thank you, but just so you know it's still me." Magnus chuckled and I'm not sure if I fainted or actually died for a minute but the next thing I knew I was on the cold tile floor of my bathroom and my phone was completely dead.
A/N Sorry I suck at updating but I actually wrote out the next couple chapters so I can do it more regularly. What do you think about that little convo? I would have died that's for sure!
