It was Thursday evening and I had made Jake come over so I could pack my stuff in his car but I knew it would be to suspicious if I was passing luggage down the roof so I did the obvious option, invited him for dinner. I don't even eat with the family so this will be awkward for everyone, I informed Karen and made sure she would make an edible last meal. We argued but I won cause I told her it would be probably my last meal till I move right outta here, she was happy to make whatever once I told her that so pizza was put straight into the oven.

There was a knock on the door at around quarter past five, I tried to make it to the door first but Charlie beat me to it, he opened it wide and looked shocked to see Jake standing at the door, "Who are you!?" he asked annoyingly. Jake just laughed and crouched to his knees,

"Vanessa never told me she had siblings" he chuckled as I led him into the hall and pushed Charlie away,

"It wasn't a necessary topic to bring up" I fake laughed as I led him into the kitchen, I quickly pulled out my phone and made a quick tweet.

"Well hello there!"John beamed as he stuck out his hand to Jake, my whole face turned red from embarrassment, Jake shook his hand confidently.

"A pleasure to meet you Mr Anderson!" He replied,

"So you're Vanessa's boyfriend?" Karen butted in, she's always so annoying and nosy.

"Hey Karen why don't you stop being so nosy and take the pizza out of the oven!" I said in a fake happy voice, she stared me down as she pulled the dinner from the phone. Jacob came running to the dining room and jumped in John's arms.

The food was pretty much gone by now and Karen was still staring at me in a creepy way, a smile slowly spread across her face as she opened her mouth to speak this is when I knew shit was gonna go down hill. "So Jake you know that we adopted Nessa right?" she smiled slyly,

"He doesn't need to know the full story Karen!" I almost shouted. The whole table had gone silent, I could see by the look of Jake's face that he just wanted to leave.

"Her 18th birthday is coming up and that means freedom, doesn't it Vanessa?" I gave up and crossed my arms across the table and face flopped in them. "When she found out she didn't want anything from us, I wasn't surprised I mean I was just shocked she never found out herself, I mean she looks absolutely nothing like John and I , not even our parents!" She laughed,

Jake interrupted her with something that made me proud to call him my boyfriend, "Well Mrs Anderson, I don't know what bullshit goes down in this house but I know when the second Nessa turns 18 I'll have her out of this house in no time! You know what!? I'm going up to help her right now!" He said sternly as he grabbed my hand and led me upstairs. I brought him to my room and flopped on my bed.

"I fucking hate this family!" I laughed as I tiredly rubbed my eyes,

"Are you packing everything?" He asked seriously.

"Yep, I'm getting everything outta here except for a few things, is that alright?" He nodded as he began packing some clothes. I pulled all of my camera equipment from under my bed and put it next to all my other luggage.

"What's all that?"

"Did I not tell you? I'm now a professional Youtuber" I joked, he laughed along and continued to help pack,

"Hey Vanessa?" He asked,

"Yeah"

"What are we gonna do about school? I mean I'm willing to do this with you but you need to know there's a chance we won't graduate" He reminded me. I got up and walked closer to him,

"I care about your education so that's why when I find my birthmother you're coming straight back, I'm not pulling you out and ruining your life just so I can see family and well for me, I don't give a shit about what happens, I'll most likely repeat and do something I'm really kean on" I finished as I began to kiss him,

"I'm not gonna leave you like that!" He let out between breaths. He grabbed my hips and pulled me in closer, I placed my hands around his neck and continued kissing him, suddenly the door was busted open we quickly pulled apart to see all three kids standing at the door,

"What the fuck guys!" I shouted as I went to slam the door shut,

"Ewwwwwwww" They all giggled, "Oh yeah Dad wants to know if you guys wanna watch inside out with us in the den?" Charlie asked as Jacob still giggled.

"Is everyone gonna be watching?" I asked interested, all three nodded and quickly left.

"Why does that matter?" Jake interrupted as I closed the door gently,

"It's go time"

We began carrying all my stuff down and threw it into his boot, it gotto the point where I was staring at my childhood room almost completely bare, the white walls were plain and all my drawers were empty, my usually overpacked wardrobe was completely empty, my makeup drawers were stained but bare. It was a bittersweet sight, I was finally getting out of this hell hole but I'll be leaving all the memories behind, Jake had left and I had pulled out my diary.

It's weird. I've hated this place for over a year now and it was my dream to escape but now that I have the chance I don't really want to, I knew karen was just pissed at me cause I was just so flawless XD But she'll get over it later when I fake apologies. I keep getting memories of this place like when the day Jacob was born I had too mind Charlie and Rebecca so we made a fort beside the closet or when Karen and John went away for a date night when Jacob was one and there was a thunderstorm so we all huddled up in my bed. I know for sure that I'll keep in touch with Charlie and Jacob, not so much Rebecca cause I know she'll grow up to be a bitchy soccer mom, she gets it from Karen. To conclude, I know I'm gonna miss some people around here but all in all I'm glad to be leaving.

I closed the diary and made my way downstairs, it was time for the dreaded apology. I knocked on the den door and dramatically stormed in. "Karen! I owe you an apology about earlier! I was rude and I hope you can somehow in your... big generous heart forgive me?" I stumbled in the most fake voice I had. She was gullible and thought my escaped giggles where soft sobbing sounds, she pulled me in for a big hug which slowly everybody began doing. I patted them on the back and signaled for them to get off of me, "Well I'm going to bed, I wanna be up bright and early tomorrow so I can hit the gym! Oh and also... I'm leaving... for a field trip for school with um the cheer squad" I wasn't even on the squad, "I'll be back Wednesday, it's a long retreat" I said as I quickly left up to my room. It worked! Now I needed some sleep, tomorrow will be a long day.

I woke up to my alarm, I glanced at my phone, 4:30, let's do this! I went and got dressed, applied some makeup, brushed my teeth and got dressed. By now it was almost 5:30 and I needed to go, I put some extra stuff like a pen, my diary, phone charger, portable makeup bag and teddy into my handbag. I had one final thing to do! I pulled a teddy from under my bed that was shaped as a car, Charlie always wanted and to this day still does and I decided now was his chance, I snuck into his room and put it next to him in his little race car bed, I had obviously forgotten how light of a sleeper he was. "Where are you going?" He asked tiredly,

"Away for a while, just don't tell anyone ok? I want you to have this" I whispered as he nodded and quickly fell back asleep. I then went into Jacob's room and put a toy truck that I had bought the other day on his playbox with a note that someone would hopefully read for him, now it was time to go to Rebecca's room. I didn't even bother putting it somewhere special, I just threw my backup phone on the ground with a note telling her to keep it and not tell anyone about it. Now it was time to leave.

I crept down the stairs and out the front door, I took the key from my pocket and put it under the mat, and left. Finally! Freedom!
