Pov narrator
You catch Gandalf giving Aragorn a wink, who smiles in return. You all follow Hama into the Hall, and Gandalf is leaning on Legolas'arm as an older man might for support. Soon you enter the Hall and bow before the King. He steps aside to allow you five to enter behind him. you see Wormtounge leans over and whispers to Theoden, your sensitive ears catching his words quickly, and you have to hold back a growl. "My lord, Gandalf the Grey is coming," Grima says, a tone of mockery. You continue walking toward Thoden, and guards close the doors behind you. Your senses are on high alert, ready to kick and beat down anyone. Your eyes notice several Men behind the contingency of guards following you as you walk towards the King.
"He's a herald of woe." you hear Grima whisper. Legolas releases gandalfs arm, and you slow down your walk to walk beside the tall elf. a sneer on your face. "The courtesy of your hall is somewhat lessened of late, Théoden King," Gandalf says, his voice echoing over the silent walls of the Golden Hall. "He's not welcome." you hear Grima whisper to the ill King, and your fangs grow as a sign of anger and disgust. You see that Aragorn and Legolas notice your discomfort, and they both place their hands subtly on your shoulders. your anger calms down but does not go out. "Why should I welcome you, Gandalf Stormcrow?" Theoden croaks out, his voice strained. He looks to Wormtounge for affirmation, who nods.
"A just question, my liege," he says and stands before you. He walks to meet you well in front of Theoden. you growl as a warning, but he doesn't seem to hear it. "Late is the hour in which this conjurer chooses to appear. Láthspell spell I name him. Ill news is an ill guest." he says and turns his eyes to Gandalf, who has a blank face, but you feel the anger building in him. "Be silent," he orders. Wormtounge freezes in his tracks, glancing at you as he first notifies you. You send him a sneer, one of the fangs, showing that 'don't mess with me. you pale but turn to Gandalf without a word. "Keep your forked tongue behind your teeth. I have not passed through fire and death to bandy crooked words with a witless worm." Gandalf continues.
He raises his staff to Grima, who backs away from it. "His staff," he states in fear before backing well away from Gandalf the white while addressing the guards arrogantly. "I told you to take the wizard's staff.": The men behind the lines burst through to you... Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli engage them in a fistfight to keep them from Gandalf. You only grow in the men's face, and they fall to the floor in fear. You soon join by Gandalf's side, hissing lowly at the King. Gamling tries to go forward, but Hama holds him back. Gandalf reaches out to Theoden. "Théoden, son of Thengel..." he starts, and Theoden reacts with a wicked stare.
"...too long have you sat in the shadows." he ends. Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli finish off the guards...wormtounge tries to crawl away unnoticed, but Gimli catches him and pins him to the floor under his foot. "I would stay still if I were you," he growls. you and Gandalf continue to approach Theoden. "Hearken to me!" Gandalf calls out. the people of the Hall closed behind Gandalf. "I release you from the spell," he says and holds out his hand and concentrates... Suddenly Theoden laughs menacingly... Gandalf opens his eyes. "You have no power here, Gandalf the Grey." the King laughs. Your sneer deepens, and your eyes flash. Angered, Gandalf throws back his grey cloak and spreads his hands. A blinding white light issues from him.
Theoden is thrown back against his seat. "I will draw you, Saruman, as poison is drawn from a wound," Gandalf growls. He thrusts his staff towards Theoden. The force knocks Theoden back on his throne. Gandalf moves in closer. You move back to Aragorn and the others, your eyes flashing in anger and wonder. Aragorn places a hand on your shoulder as you come beside him. You break your stare from Gandalf and the King, but you smile slightly. Suddenly you see the golden lady N rushes in. Thinking Theoden is in trouble, she tries to run to him, but you and Aragorn stop her. "Wait," you whisper gently. A new aura comes over Theoden. He looks at Gandalf evilly and speaks in Saruman's voice.
"If I go, Théoden dies." Gandalf thrusts his staff again and throws Theoden back again. "You did not kill me; you will not kill him," he says calmly. Theoden leans forward with difficulty, hate welling in his eyes. "Rohan is mine." he strains. he struggles against gandalfs power. "Begone," Gandalf says, and Theoden suddenly lunges for Gandalf. Gandalf smites him, and he is thrown back into the chair. In Isengard, Sauroman flies backward across the floor away from the Palantir in ortcank. He slowly rises, bleeding from the wound Gandalf left in his forehead. Back in the golden Hall, Gandalf lets out a sigh of relief. Theoden falls from his throne with a moan. You and Aragorn release Eowyn. She charges across the Hall to catch him before he can hit the floor.
Gamling makes to charge at Gandalf, but Hama holds him steady. Eowyn holds Theoden up to look at him. His eyes clear...his hair changes from white strands to brown splendor...his face de-ages to a more youthful King. Eowyn smiles, delighted. Theoden looks about, confused, and finds Eowyn. "I know your face," he says and starts to smile. "Éowyn. Éowyn." Eowyn weeps with joy. Theoden looks up and is surprised to see Gandalf standing over him. "Gandalf?" he asks. Gandalf smiles and stays. "Breathe the free air again, my friend." Theoden rises to his feet and looks over his Hall. you smile from your spot, standing tall beside Aragorn. "Dark have been my dreams of late," Theoden says and looks around.
He looks down at his trembling hands. "Your fingers would remember their old strength better if they grasped your sword." you suddenly say, startling everyone. Hama runs to the King with his sword, HERUGRIM.thedoen slowly reaches for it. He wraps his fingers around the hilt and then slowly draws HERUGRIM from its sheath. You cast a look at Grima, who trembles and tries to escape...Gimli restrains him. You look back to Theoden to see him gazing upon the steel, feeling his strength return. His eyes suddenly darken, and he turns his gaze to wormtoughe, who shudders.
Hama and Gamling throw Wormtounge down the stairs. He lands hard on the lower stoop and groans in pain. Theoden walks down the steps, holding his sowerxd. Grima E crawls away as he speaks. "I've only ever served you, my lord," he says beseechingly. Theoden continues his advance toward wormtounge. "Your leechcraft would have had me crawling on all fours like a beast!" he spits. Grima tries again to spare his life. "Send me not from your sight." Theoden raises his sword to kill wormtounge, but you rush and stop him. "No, my lord! No, my lord. Let him go. Enough blood has been spilled on his account." you say. Theoden looks at you and relents. You offer Grima's hand, but wormtounge spits in it and scrambles to his feet. you shake off the spittle
he then violently pushes his way through the crowd of bystanders. "Get out of my way!" he yells. Those on the steps solemnly watch wormtounge depart. "Hail, Théoden king!" Hama suddenly calls out. The crowd kneels before Theoden. Theoden observes the group on its knees. He looks at you, who kneels before him. Theoden turns to go back into the Hall. He stops and surveys those standing on the steps. "Where is Théodred? Where is my son?" he asks. You share a brief look with your friends.
Later that day, Two lines of soldiers form a pathway within a crowd of people. Their heads are bowed low as pallbearers carry the body of Théodred between them. Upon Théodred's chest is a small bundle of white flowers. Théoden follows his son. You and your friends follow behind him. The people of Edoras stand closely, leaving only a small pathway through the center of the city for the pallbearers to carry Théodred. Cries and moans pierce the air. At Théodred's tomb, Eowyn stands near the tomb's open door. The pallbearers lower Théodred and pass his wicket between a path of people to the women waiting within the grave to receive him.
