in Isengard, after the ents attack, Pippin and Merry stand waist-deep in the water, looking up at the tower of Isengard where saurman and Girma look hopelessly down from their prison. "He doesn't look too happy, does he?" Merry says to Pippin, who agrees. "Not too happy at all, Merry." they are watching the two traitors near the outer wall. "Still, I suppose the view would be quite nice from up there." Merry pipes in. " Oh, yes, it's a quality establishment. I hear the staff are excellent." Pippin says they're both severe faces or at least so powerful they can be when they're hobbits. Suddenly, Merry holds his hand out from his head, measuring his height against Pippins. The younger hobbit catches this out of the corner of his eye. Merry pretends to be playing with his hair.
"What are you doing?" Pippin asks supiosley. Merry smiles and says, "Nothing. The world's back to normal, that's all." Pippin's face turns sad, and he turns back. "No, it isn't. I'm starving," he says. suddenly a floating basket floats by, and Merry picks it up tosses its contents. "Good luck trying to find something decent to eat around here. Probably dead rats and moldy bread," he says. Pippin then picks up a floating apple. He looks to the sky for a moment trying to figure out where it came from. Then, suddenly, he sees another....and another... Merry sees what is happening. They follow the trail of apples until they find a turkey...and then a basket of apples...and then...
The hobbits look with rapt anticipation at the food storehouse in the wall of Isengard. "Saruman's storeroom!" Merry exclaimed, and the hobbits saw two barrels labeled from the southfathering of the shire. they look with reverent awe on the barrels. "I don't believe it." They crack open the top of one of the barrels. "It is!" merry exclaims. "Longbottom Leaf," Pippin says, and Merry takes a huge sniff of it. "The finest pipe-weed in South Farthing," he says in content. "It's perfect. One barrel each." Pippin says and hands the other barrel to merry, who takes it. The younger Took then whispered, "Wait. Do you think we should share it with Treebeard?" Merry thinks for a while before saying, "Share it? No. No. Dead plant and all that. Don't think he'd understand." he then leans to Pippin and says, "Could be a distant relative." Pippin nods and smiles.
"I get it. Don't be hasty," he says, and Merry whips out his pipe. "Exactly." they laugh. Treebeard passes close to the storeroom. He hears the laughing and looks in on them.
in Osgiliath, Faramir leads fordo and sam, and their guide Gollum through the turmoil to the waterlogged tunnel. " This is the old sewer. Runs right under the river through to the edge of the city. You'll find cover in the woods there." he says and points to the tunnel. Both Frodo and Sam look at him gratefully. Your voice suddenly sounds kind, and a smile lashed into it. a figure of you flares, startling the hobbits and Gollum. "Captain Faramir...you have shown your quality, sir." your image then disappears after it sends a small smile to Faramir, who looks bewildered. he stands back, surprised by your words. he then gets brought back to reality by sam, who agrees with your comments. "The very highest." he mutter, and Faramir smiles at him.
"The Shire must be a great realm, Master Gamgee, where gardeners are held in high honor." sam looks away, embarrassed, while Faramir continues to smile at them. his smile then falters, and he has his serious look again. "What road will you take once you reach the woods?" he asks, looking intensely at the young hobbits. "Gollum says there's a path near Minas Morgul that climbs up into the mountains," Frodo speaks up, and a cold wind flies by, and Faramir is surprised. he then grabs Gollum, who tries to sneak away, holds him up by the neck, and holds him against the wall. "Cirith Ungol? Is that its name?" he says.
"No. No!" Gollum wails, but Faramir tightens his grip. "Yes." the creature coax out. Faramir turns to Frodo and says, "Frodo, they say a dark terror dwells in the passes above Minas Morgul. You cannot go that way. " Frodo's face light up with rapt with indecision. "It is the only way. Master says we must go to Mordor, so we must try." forum croaks again. Faramir looks to Frodo, seemingly desperate to talk him out of it. Frodo looks resolute again. "I must," he says. Faramir throws Gollum down and stands before Frodo and sam. "Go, Frodo. Go with the goodwill of all Men." Frodo looks at the young ranger, touched by his sincerity. "Thank you," he says and starts into the sewer... sma follows him.
Gollum starts to slink to the sewer, but Faramir grabs him up by the neck again, pinning him against the wall. A hand begins moving as it him, and Gollum sees it; his face fills with fear as he sees her face.
