The True Heralds of Life
The True Heralds of Life:
'Hop, skip and touch the sky
Hop, skip and touch the sky'
So rang the joyful refrain
Of the kids playing in the rain
Blissfully unaware of gravity
Their joy being their clarity
Having absolutely no reluctance at all
They did jump up, dance and fall.
Not caring even a little bit that they fell
They just got up and continued playing well.
Now us adults tend to over complicate
Things, not see them as they are, dedicate
Our time to useless egotistic pursuits,
Not appreciating the delicious fruits
Of simple joys and precious time;
We'd rather drown in many a dime.
But stop for a second and do remember
Life's not eked out to work all December.
Stop and learn from that son or daughter
Whose dulcet tones of joyous laughter
Fill the air with flowing silky sweetness.
Just stand by children and do witness
How they take life on straight away
No fears, no ifs and buts, no hideaway.
Learn from these 'bundles of joy'
What life is at its fullest, not a ploy.
Rightly placed among the best,
Children are the ones with a lot of zest
To face whatever it is they have to
For they are the true heralds of life.
