Disasters

Sorry for the lack of updates, I'm kinda busy at the moment :P. Just to let you guys know, I'll try to keep every chapter fairly above 1,000 words.

Wind's POV:

I couldn't sleep at all that night. It was too horrible. In the morning when all of us were awake, we decided to go exploring. After all . . . why not?

Soon, when we were in a marshy area, we saw a strange patch of . . . mushrooms?

"Oh, that's just psilocybe cyanescens. It's a species of potent psychedelic mushroom. The main compounds responsible for its psychedelic effects are psilocybin and psilocin," Vortex said, examining it. Blizzard let out an unsurprised laugh, and then turned to a straight face. Of course, an angry, straight face.

"Guys, listen," Galaxy whispered. He covered Storm's mouth before the sarcastic RainWing could say anything else. Storm's scales turned tomato-red of amusement and then they shifted to a calm, light blue. Small cooing sounds were in the air, hissing and scraping against something.

"It's them," Vortex said softly. Blizzard frowned, then nodded, curling his claws. Storm, who was now free, shifted his scales to the mud-brown color of trees. I looked at my wings, glittering orange and light blue and purple shining in the sunlight.

"It's over, dragonets," said a familiar voice. Starfinder, a NightWing, was flying next to Blizzard. Blizzard let out a roar of anger and fury and then jabbed the NightWing in the ribs painfully with his extra horns. Starfinder grunted in pain, soon going for Vortex. They want her DNA.

If they can get their hands on it and do some experimenting, they could turn all the dragons in Pyrrhia into EarthWings.

Everything would be chaos.

We have to stop this.

"Wind, help me!" Vortex screamed from behind. She kicked Dracul (remember, Bayou's real name) in the stomach. The MudWing grunted and made flames in his talons. Vortex sniffed and made lightning bolts in her talons, kicking dirt aside.

"I CAME IN LIKE A WRECKING BOLT!!" Storm sang loudly from above. I grinned as he swung on a vine, kicking Cactus in the stomach. The SandWing growled and walked closer.

I ran to Vortex, who was battling Dracul. She ran to him and slid, sliding between his feet. When she was facing his back, she touched the lightning exactly on his back. It didn't effect him.

How was this happening? Was he special in some way?

Wait . . . that was it . . .

EarthWings don't breed because when you breed two EarthWings, you get a FlameWing.

They're too dangerous, making the EarthWings scared, so they only breed with other tribes.

Oh my gosh . . . I need to tell the others.

But just then, something stabbed into my leg. The pain was unstoppable, like something was pulling your scales out with their own claws. Cactus was jabbing his tail into my leg, grinning with his smug evil face. Then everything blacked out and I faded into a world of darkness.

Galaxy's POV:

"WIND!!" I screamed. I ran over to her, panting in fear.

"Oh no," Vortex said, sobbing, "this is all my fault. I wasn't there to help her."

I put one wing on Vortex's shoulder. "It's not your fault."

"I know something that can stop the poison," a voice demanded. Storm walked over to Wind, and then looked at Blizzard.

"Blizzard, I need you to fly to the Kingdom of Sand, get a cactus, and come back. Is that so hard?" Storm asked, sliding one of his green wings under Wind so he could pick her up. "Meet us back at the sphere once your done."

"Oh, you should know who your asking," Blizzard said, flexing his claws. He stretched out his pale blue wings and took off. Meanwhile, me and my friends walked back to the sphere, trying not to look twice at Wind's numb leg. When we got back to the sphere, Blizzard was already there, stretching out his wings once again. He placed a cactus on the sandy floor and looked up. Since Blizzard was so huge, he usually had to sleep outside the sphere, in the dry desert.

"Perfect," Storm said. He broke the cactus in half and squeezed, spreading cactus juice all over Wind's leg. Soon, the SkyWing heir awoke, stretching.

"W-what happened?" She asked. "Maybe I can-" she tried walking, but failed, stumbling back on the sand.

"It might take a while to heal, so I suggest you stay in bed for a while," Storm said, proudly explaining. Vortex's scales slowly shifted back to the ocean-blue color of SeaWings, and she flashed her special glow-in-the-dark scales.

Blizzard, angrily, dragged Wind, who was trying to stand but failing, inside the sphere, to a warm patch of sand. Storm gave her the wooden bowl of fruit he'd brought, and half-cut the salmon he'd also brought with his claws. He handed the biggest piece to Blizzard, an average-sized piece for Vortex, and a small piece for me. He'd also got a watermelon from our exploration trip, which he ate happily. The sun was still shining brightly, and it was really warm out.

"So, I guess this is it," Storm sighed, "we're doomed."

"G-guys," Wind croaked dryly, "I know why EarthWings don't breed. When they do, they make a FlameWing."

"And Bayou . . . his scales are like a MudWings', but he has the power of fire, so his parents are EarthWings and his great grandmother or something must've been a MudWing," Vortex said, catching on.

"That's bad," Blizzard sneered, "but I have a feeling Firedrake has something to do with this."

"Maybe," I sighed, "So many betrayals."

Wind was quietly munching through a cantaloupe, brushing her claws through the sand. Vortex was eating through the salmon Storm had given her, and she was thinking.

"I hope we can defeat them soon," Vortex sighed. "I really, really hope."

??'s POV:

"How did they find out?"

"I don't know, Lord. They're smart dragonets..."

"Stop that nonsense. You will find them and kill them, as soon as possible. Don't you fail me."

"Yessir . . . and this time, they'll be dead for sure."
