You've got to be kidding

A/N I know it's been a while but I've got to say one thing. I didn't have wifi for a week so I wasn't able to update at all. Please forgive me and I hope you like the chapter!

"yea, camp was pretty cool for you wasn't it?"

Jealous much?

"Might be"

Well sorry you didn't come.

*grumbles* "It was boring all week.. Nothing went on"

Oh well Phil. Sorry you're not easily distracted.

"wow, you're in a mood"

Let's get on with the chapter!

"Moody!"

--------------------------------

Mineral glared at the angels as they surrounded her. The emerald sword in front of her warning ten to keep back. One of them, obviously one of the newer ones, let out a deep sigh.

"Why are we doing this again?" He asked.

"Because she's a danger" the ginger one said again

"For the last time I am not dangerous!" Mineral said exasperated. "I am not like my father!"

"But you have fathers blood. That's enough f-" gingei started but Mineral cut us off.

"Well, he is my father. I'd hope I have some part of him in me. Dot want another Steve repeat" mineral replied, muttering the last part. He stared at her confused and slightly annoyed.

"You obviously don't want to come peacefully" gingei stated "but we'll give you one more chance" mineral grinned

"That's your first mistake" she said. One look around told her she's surrounded. Another reveals all the noobs of the group were behind her. She smirked and lunged towards them, they panicked and tried to block her. She was able to get through with a few hits.

She raced through the forest, the guards flying after and gaining. The sound of their yelling helping her go faster.

The forest turned darker the further she ran and soon it was as if an eclipse had enveloped the aither. Regardless of the scenery change, Mineral kept running. The wing beats behind her seemed to falter. They picked up though soon as try tried to catch up. But that pause was all she needed.

Mineral had already disappeared into the forest.

Lora was headed back to her home in the swamp after her 'job well done'. But it didn't feel like that to her. Something was... Off for her. Something wasn't right. She shrugged it off and unlocked her house. In the main pats of the house, kitchen, living room and dining room, it looked normal. But with a flick of a switch that all changed.

A weapons cabinet popped out of the china cabinet. The fridge turned to reveal the armory and a trap door opened up in the corner of the living room under the rug leading to a laboratory and brewing station. But at the moment she just walked upstairs to her bedroom. It had been a long time since she had been home.

She walked upstairs and into the one room. And nearly jumped out of her skin when she saw the ghastly pale figure sitting in a chair in the corner.

"How'd you get in here?" Lora asked glaring at Israphel.

"Your door was unlocked" he said, pointedly sitting in front of her broken bedroom window. She made a mental note to put bars over them later. Or just remove them entirely.

"Sure" she said walking over to her dresser "what do you want?"

"Your job isn't done" Israphel stated and stood up. Lora looked at him confused.

"Yes it is, she's dead. That was the deal" Lora turned around with a glare "don't try and sell me short on this. I did my end, if you want more then you'll have to up the pay"

Israphel chuckled and threw a bag onto the bed "how about doubling it?" Lora eyes the bag.

"What else do you want?" She asked. She leaned against the wall with a passive face.

"Apparently They're being brought back" Israphel said "A spy informed me that the twins came back a day or so ago. I need you to make sure the girl doesn't either. We can take care of the other two later"

"No" Lora said. Israphel stopped and turned.

"What?" He asked, stepping towards her. Lora stood her ground.

"I appreciate the offer but I don't accept" she said. Israphel smiled

"And why would that be my dear?" He asked. She walked over, picked up the bag and thrust it into his arms.

"I wont have any more of you. get out" She said. For once in a long time Israphel felt completely and utterly shocked. No one had ever denied him anything before.

"I don't believe you understand" He said walking forward. Anger was starting to boil inside him "I'm not asking"

"And I don't think you understand me" She said walking to the door "I'm telling you to get out" her face was slack, showing no emotion. Israphel on the other hand was over flowing with anger but obliged and left with a swift flick of his hand. He only left a small wisp of smoke behind.

"she wanted you to have this" Kye said handing Steve a letter sealed with red wax. A sad smile crossed his face as he took it.

It was quiet in the library, they were the only two in there. Kye had made sure of that.

Steve carefully popped the seal and unfolded it carefully.

I'm sorry. The letter read

I realize I've caused you pain, but I couldn't deal with everything. Finding out I was kidnapped and raised by my uncle? No one would have thought different. Especially since my real dad is hated. But- if I had the choice I wouldn't do anything different. It was fun, all the adventures we had and even if you aren't my real dad, You always will be to me.

Even if it bothers me that you took me I can't do anything about it now. But if you tried to make me choose I wouldn't be able to. I was taken from one life and put in another. I might have turned out like people thought, a murderer like my real father. Or I would have turned out different from that. Heck, I may even had stayed the same that I am now. Or was. If you're reading this it means one thing. Kye kept her promise to me. You'll have to thank her for me since I can't any more.

I'm sorry dad. I really am. What I did was wrong, but I ask only one more thing from you.

Can you forgive me?

Steve had tears welling in his eyes as he nodded his head.

"Yes" his voice sounded horse from grief "I can. I do" and he started to cry. Kye watched sadly from the other side of the desk, her head hung low.

"She wanted you to know" Kye said trying to stay strong "once she died. She had tried several different times to write but, she could never finish one or send it. She was too scared of what would happen. This was the only way she thought acceptable to tell you" Steve hung his head.

"Acceptable? Nothing about this is acceptable" he said, voice low. "What happened to the other letters?"

Kye sighed "she burnt them. She didn't want anyone finding out" Steve shook his head, one tear falling to the ground

"She was that ashamed" he said with a heavy sigh. Kye snorted

"No, she was that scared. She wasn't ashamed at all" she smiled. She had a long, distant look on her face. As if she were remembering. She smiled slightly.

"She would always talk about her past, weaving it into stories. Before we became leaders she would go to the library and just write. Often I'd go to get her or see how she was doing and walk in to a story she was telling to the kids there" Kye chuckled lightly "they'd always beg for more after. She always spoke fondly of those times too. As if she didn't have a care in the world. They seemed to come alive" her head lowered again "but then the village was attacked. By who we didn't know. Luckily everyone made it out alright. Only one person missing though. Never found his body. We relocated here and built a new town which grew quickly. So quick that the people thought we needed a leader. In the middle of that conversation though some guards came in and told us we were under attack again. Crystal was the first out the door" Kye smirked at the memory "we couldn't have been more surprised"

Steve nodded listening "what was it?"

Kye smirked remembering "Endra, it's how we met her. She and some endermen were traveling together and got into a fight with some of the guards. It's one that's still talked about in town. No one knows how but Crystal was able to calm her" she shook her head "so many things came from that battle. It's what changed her honestly"

"What do you mean changed her?" Steve asked

"After running away she fell into depression. I honestly didn't think she was going to get out of it" Kye replied "but then- she changed. It was gone. I don't know why or how but she changed"

--

Mineral raced through the forest again. The angels had picked up on her and were in full pursuit. She just had to make it to somewhere they couldn't get to her. A cave preferably. Anything would work really. But her luck ran out.

She could sense the lead getting closer and went as fast as she could manage. She knew she had to get away. Whatever they had planned wasn't going to end well for her. She dodged around trees, jumped over rocks, all in a desperate attempt to get away. She was desperately trying not to trip.

Soon though, she ran out of the relative safety of the forest and found herself on the edge of a cliff. Down below it seemed water lapped at the cliff face but it quickly grew stronger as the surf rolled in.

She turned back to the tree line cornered and could see the angels. They looked like shadows in the trees, an inky darkness behind them. She could see one clearly, then others started appearing, all their attention was turned to her. They watched her every movement. She took a step back and felt the earth start to crumble under her feet. That's when it started.

Crystal

She stared horrified into the forest

Diamond

Those voices, they were horrifying. Their tones promising only pain yet sounding like silk.

Crystal

She was getting desperate. She fell to her knees and tried blocking them out. It didn't work. They just kept relentlessly badgering her over and over. She looked up in terror and saw a figure dart out of the forest and slam into her. She screamed as she was plunged over the cliff and into the surf below. Looking through the water she only saw a glimpse of him. But one thing for sure. It wasn't one of the angels.

She tried to swim back up but something was pulling her down. Her lungs gaped for breath but she could only swallow the water. It did no good.

It wasn't long before her vision started to fade to black. She stopped struggling and let whatever was pulling her drag her deeper into to he depths. Only one thought entered her mind

If I'm dead, where am I going?

And he vision faded completely.

--

Israphel grumbled to himself as he paced. He stood in a forest near the swamp, trying to think of a way to 'persuade' Lora into going along with the plan. It wasn't going to be easy but maybe if there were some leverage? Bribery didn't work and he knew she had no grudge anymore so that did no good either. What was he going to do?

"It looks like I'll have to do the dirty work myself" he muttered and pulled out a potion.

With a snap of his fingers he was back in front of Lora's cottage. He smirked and went up to the window looking in.

Lora sat at the kitchen table lazily eating a bowl of cereal with a thoughtful face. there was a knock on at her front door and she got up to answer. Israphel grinned

Perfect Israphel though. He quickly snuck in and poured half of the potion into the bowl. it mixed well with the milk already sitting in it. and he was gone just as quick as he had come.

Lora walked back in with the boy and say back down at the table.

"Why'd you come around?" she asked as she continued to eat. Xavier shrugged.

"Can't I come see a friend now and then?" he asked with a sky grin. Lora rolls her eyes.

"Yea, unless you plan to murder them in their sleep then no" Lora responded with a light smile.

"Not you, don't worry" Xavier said. "Although, we could go out tonight on a spree" he grinned widely and she couldn't help big roll her eyes. She took another spoonful of the cereal. There was a weird taste to it.

"Are you ready to help now dear?" Israphel asked walking in with a smirk. She didn't even look up.

"get out Israphel" she said taking another bite. Israphel smirked.

"let me rephrase that" he said "You will obey me" She felt herself put the spoon down and stand up.

"Yes sir" she said. Or, at least it sounded like her. Xavier was staring at her in shock. Israphel grinned.

"good"

--

Everythign around her was dark. She couldn't feel any ground below her or anything around her. Squinting, she could make out small particles floating around her.

I see the player you mean

Her?

Yes. Take care though, she can hear us.

Why is it then, that every time we meet someone like this we start out with that?

Mineral looked around confused as she tried to locate the voices. But like everything else, there was nothing.

Because that's what we do.

But we've been doing it for years.

More than a thousand.

Exactly. Why not switch it up?

"Who are you two?" Mineral asked unable to keep quiet any longer. The voices went silent.

I forgot she could hear us.

Me too. what do we do now?

Well, do what we were supposed to in the first place.

Greet her?

NO you imbecile, we help her.

By telling her what? That she's d-

The voice paused for a moment leaving Mineral in the dark. Literally

I see what you're planning. What'll they say?

What'll they say? They'll thank us! Maybe even let us out finally.

Yea, no. That's not going to happen and you know it.

How do you know?

Believe me, I can just tell.

We can still give it a chance.

Like we did with her father?! Look where that got us!

"Wait!" Mineral blurted surprised. "you know my father?" the voices went silent again.

She can still hear us

I know that you fool! Yes dear, we know your father

He was dead right?

Idiot! just shut up!

Oh, no need to get antsy now.

She was starting to get annoyed their constant fighting.

"Could one of you please explain?!" she shouted

Simple

he died

we brought him back

Like we will do for you.

ready? "wait" Mineral stared into the void of inky darkness in confusion "what do you mean?!"

can we really not make this any clearer?!

Don't snap at the child! She only asked a question.

We're bringing you back to life. And you call me-

That's enough of that

A;right, alright. Shall we have some fun first?

What type of fun?

Send her where she is needed most of course

Where would that be?

You know

.... Alright, go ahead. but she must agree

Do you agree?"What are you planning?" Mineral asked warily

Something to help you on your journey.

"My journey?" she asked. "What journey? back to the aither? I'd rather not" There was laughter from the voices.

Didn't we just say we were going to help you live?

"Little late for that" she muttered "already dead, remember?"

And don't you remember we can bring you back? The voice responded with the same tone of voice.

Even if you've died once before

"what do you mean?" she asked

You'll remember later. But for now it's time you get back.

The blackness started to swirl around her slowly picking up speed.

"What's happening?" Mineral asked.

Don't worry, we're just taking you somewhere you'll be comfortable.

And the darkness drowned out the voices leaving her once again in silence as everything spun. Then, everything came into focus and she was outside Sky's castle.

"why am I here?" she wondered out loud.

'Cause this is where we sent you

"you're still in my head!? Get out!" Mineral jumped in surprise. Two guards on patrol appeared and she ducked into the shadows.

"I can't be here. Take me somewhere else" she said.

Don't worry, they can't see you

We've made you invisible for the time being. "You're kidding" She whispered

Nope

Sorry!

"Why?" she asked slightly annoyed

We didn't want you to be seen yet

How would the people who knew you react to seeing you alive and breathing again?

Especially after they saw you dead?

"Good point" Mineral admitted grudgingly "but why here?"

Don't worry about it.

Just go and see.

She waited for them to speak again but when they didn't she shrugged and started towards the castle. She walked right in without being noticed. Justs like the voices had said. The place wasn't very different since hte last time she saw it.

Go up the steps

"Why?" she askedJust do it! You won't regret it!

"Alright, alright" she said "I'll listen to you for once" and she walked up the steps next to her. Leading to the med wing.

"Why in here?" she asked

Look at the bed on the end.

She sighed and looked and had to hold back a gasp. There lay Budder, motionless and bruised black adn blue. She rushed over and put a hand on the bed.

DONT TOUCH HIM!

She jumped back in surprise. "why?"

You touch him

you're no longer invisible

and we know you wouldn't want ot be seen. Yet.

We'll let you choose though.

She pulled her hand away. "what happened?" she asked.

Pushed

Out a window.

Or was it a patio?

I'm pretty sure it was a window.

"does that really matter?" she muttered to herself.

yes it does.

Shall we move on?

"wait, I- I want to do something real quick" Mineral said. The voices went silent and she smiled. Quickly, she ran down the staircase and out into the night. she made sure none of the guards were around and quickly picked one of the roses from a bush by the wall and hurried back in.

what's she-

Shh!

For once she was happy. After all that had happened and all that she had seen, she was happy. No worries, no fears, nothing. She was completely at peace. A smile grew on her face as she set the rose on the table next to his bed and turned to leave. All she needed to do now was find a way to tell everyone she was back. But who to start with?

She contemplated this as she walked back out the doors and into the hall. She as so deep in thought that she didn't hear the warnings from the two voices in her head until it was too late.

Watch out!

In front of you!

She didn't have time to react until she collided with the person. Both of them fell back and she could feel something happen to her as she rubbed her head. The other person groaned and say up.

"I'm sorry" he muttered as he stood up and started to brush himself off. "Wasn't watching where I was going. In too much of a-" he stopped and stared at her. Mineral stared back up.

"Um, I can explain?" Mineral said staring at Tomy from the ground. His eyes grew to the size of dinner plates and he took a step back.

"Please tell me I'm not seeing ghosts now too" he muttered eyes wide.

You might want to run the voice said with a tint of sarcasm. Mineral shook her head and backed up before running. Tomy shook his head and came back to his senses.

"Guards! Intruder! Help!" He yelled. The sound of boots on the hard floor started coming closer.

Time to switch! And the scenery blurred for a moment before coming back into focus. This time at the front gates of the Fox kingdom. And with a cloak. Mineral gingerly felt it the material smooth on her skin but foreign and weird feeling.

Don't worry, it's to help hide your identity until you're ready

Don't say we didn't warn you about it earlier.

'I know' mineral thought back. Then added after a thought 'thanks' and headed in and to the only place she knew would be safe. At least for the time being.

She headed towards Freddy's and walked in. There weren't many people in there at this time of night but that wasn't odd. She could guess it was most likely pretty late at night but everyone seemed morbid. She kept her head low and headed towards the counter where Freddy was polishing it.

"I need a room for the night" she said staying standing. He stopped and looked up at her.

"You know it'll cost you" he said. He sounded tired and worn down well beyond his age.

"I know" she said hiding her pity. Soon it'll be over and there wouldn't be sadness.

"Can you pay for it?" He asked and leaned on the counter. She hesitated.

Your pocket

She quickly put her hand in her pocket and felt a bag of coins. She smiled and silently thanked them as she pulled it out.

"I think this'll be good enough for one night" she said plopping it down on the counter. Freddy looked at it and nodded.

"Room 2-0-3" he said tossing her a key "enjoy your stay"

She nodded and headed up. The room was small, with a single bed, wall mirror, dresser and an attached bathroom with only a toilet and sink. She smiled to herself and sat on the bed.

'Tomorrow' she said 'tomorrow I will go to the castle and tell Kye. She'll help me' and as she put her head on the pillow her eyes started closing.

'Tomorrow' she thought again making it a silent promise and fell asleep.

----------

A/N haha! It's done! Did that seem long to anyone else? I'm not talking about the wait, I know that was long. But I'm actually pretty proud of this chapter for once. *nods to self* well, I guess I'll see you foxes later! I'll get right on the next chapter and get it out as so as I San. I'm just sad this book is almost over. Well, no use dwelling on things.
