Red shirts: most dangerous job in the star fleet

The group was walking down the hall. Louise in front, Sydney behind him with Safari next to her, Katie behind them and Holly bringing up the rear.

"Remember to be quiet" Louise said for the millionth time.

"We know Louise" Holly said rolling her eyes. "You've told us a thousand times already"

"You can never be to careful" Louise replied as they neared the gates of the castle.

"Remind me again why we're sneaking out of the best place we've ever been" Sydney said from behind him. She kept looking over her shoulder back at the others.

"Because I don't trust them" Louise said in a mute voice.

"Seriously, after all they've done for us. You still don't trust them?" Katie said in an unimpressed voice.

"What about your girlfriend?" Holly asked in a mocking tone. Louise tried to stop his face from turning red. It didn't work.

"It wouldn't worm out" he muttered.

"You sure?" A voice asked from above. Endra dropped down a moment later causing them all to jump back in surprise. Endra smirked as she folded her wings up and tail disappeared.

"So where are you all sneaking off to?" She asked innocently

"Um, we're just-" Louise stuttered unable to look her in the eyes.

"Or were you trying to sneak away?" Endra asked with a heart broken look in her eyes. Louise wouldn't look at her. With a nod she moved to the side "I won't try to stop you then" she said, her voice softer.

"Wait, why would you think we'd want to leave?" Sydney asked. Endra looked. Up at her surprised.

"Isn't that what you were trying to do? I can understand too, it can get pretty boring being in here all the time" Endra replied

"That you're right about" Katie said "but no, we don't want to leave, we just have to get back to the farm. It's been a while and we've got animals to take care of back there" Endra's face brightened a bit.

"Oh, if that's all then alright. I can send a group of guards to escort you back" Endra offered "it's the least we could do to repay you for all your help"

"No need" another voice coming from behind the group said. They turned to see Cap, Cherry, Jonas and Frog standing behind them.

"We were just going out ourselves so if they wanted to, we could" Cap said with a smile. Louise opened his mouth to object but was interrupted by Katie.

"We'd love that" she said in a dreamy tone that she quickly covered up "if you're ok with that, that is"

"Fine by me" Jonas said shrugging. He looked at Sydney and smiled, unable to hide it.

"Then let's go!" Holly said jumping and running out. The others followed close behind.

they were half way through the forest when Cap stopped.

"Someone's up ahead" He said. It wasn't long before they were hidden and not long after that when two people walked by.

"I don't think we're on the right path anymore" one said. He seemed to be wearing pants, and shoes, but no shirt. He reminded them of a Viking almost but much shorter. almost like a dwarf.

"We're on the right path" The one in the lead said. He was wearing what seemed to be a uniform with a red shirt, black pants, black boots and a small symbol over his heart.

"But are you sure? We haven't seen anyone in days. The last sign we saw was that burnt out farm" The Viking/ dwarf said.

"Yea, but it says there's a kingdom near by. Maybe we can get some help there" The red shirt said looking at a map. No one noticed Safari step out.

"C- can I help you?" Safari asked timidly. The two men stopped and stared at her.

"Who are you?" The dwarf asked.

"Um, just someone" She said. "Do you need help though?"

"No" The dwarf said "We're on a mission actually. do you know where we can find a place to refuel?"

She nodded as everyone else stayed in the tree line, watching the scene unfolding. Slowly, they all came out.

"We can help you find it" Safari said looking at the others smiling. The two men looked at each other.

"In exchange for what?" The red shirt asked. Louise stepped up.

"You said something about a burned out farm, what did you mean?" He asked

Mineral rushed back to the castle but stopped short. The guards were already out and the gates had been shut locking her out. She wasn't going to be caught out either even if she did it all the time she hadn't been caught yet and didn't plan to any time soon. And especially not with what she found.

Slipping around the side of the wall she looked for her usual opening. It was hidden under the vines and foliage growing. It had 'appeared' around a year after the walls were built. After several precious moments of looking she still couldn't find it and started giving up on getting in on time. That is, before a small whimper came from a bush next to the wall. Mineral looked over quick and spotted two yellow eyes gleaming in the darkness as Rancune stepped out. She whimpered again before walking closer to the now bloody cape.

"No, it's not for you" mineral said looking down at the boy. "We've got to get him inside though and fast if he's going to make it"

As if she understood Rancune slipped back into the bushes. Mineral stood still for a moment before tucking the cape tighter and followed, brushing twigs as branches out of the way as she went.

She caught sight of the wolf dog several times as she worked her way though. It wasn't long before she caught sight of Rancune wedging herself under the wall and trot away. Mineral could only star in astonishment before she followed the dog under. Rancune waited on the other side for her owner wagging her tail.

"Good job girl" Mineral smiles petting her head before hurrying towards the castle.

She made her way to the castle unseen and avoiding the guards as best as possible. It would be a pain to explain what she was doing and besides, the clock was ticking down for the boy.

There was no chance she would take him to the infirmary wing though. Even if hybrids were welcomed certain ones were still looked down on and even in her castle she wasn't going to take the chance. No, she was going to someone she knew she could trust with something so important. Or at least the one she knew would at least give him a chance at survival.

Mineral scanned the hall as she went looking for the room. She knew which one to find her in and quickly turned a corner, hurrying down the hall to the room. She knocked rapidly but only loud enough for the person on the inside to hear. It wasn't long before Morgan opened the door, sleep still in her eyes.

"Mineral? What is it at th-" she stopped short as her gaze landed on the cape. She ushered them in "hurry, get in here and close the door" Mineral didn't hesitate as Morgan checked the hall and locked the door.

"Where'd you find him?" Morgan asked as she took the cape and set it gently on the bed.

"Out in the forest. A hoard of zombies came and attacked him" Mineral replied. Morgan nodded and unwrapped the cloak, letting the fabric slide off the bed and into a blood covered heap on the floor.

"Yea, I wonder why" Morgan said with more than a hint of sarcasm in her voice, not even trying to hide it. "He looks pretty bad but I think I can patch him up for you" She said while examining the extent of the wounds.

"Thanks" Mineral said with a sigh of relief. Morgan gently flipped him onto his back and snorted.

"Just what you'd expect too" She muttered to herself as she reached for the rubbing alcohol "Could you give me a hand here? I'll need you to hold him still while I clean out his wounds" she said looking at Mineral. Mineral nodded and walked over, gently placing her hands on the poor boys bare back.

"Why do you need me to hold him down?" Mineral asked as Morgan plucked some cotton balls out of a jar and doused them in the rubbing alcohol.

"Because this is going to hurt like the nether" Morgan said getting to work.

An hour later the boy was fast asleep on the bed wrapped from practically head to toe in bandages so only a small bit of his blue skin was showing along with tuffs of hair poking out between the raps. He seemed so peaceful resting there it was almost hard to believe what he had been through.

"Why'd you decide to help him?" Morgan asked standing next to Mineral as they watched his chest rise and fall in his sleep.

"I couldn't leave him to die" Mineral responded "It would have been like leaving-" she paused to think.

"Your brother and sister to die at the hands of an enemy?" Morgan finished. Mineral nodded before freezing.

"Brother and sister?" She asked looking at Morgan. Panic started to rise in her throat as Morgan nodded.

"Yes, Angel and Creed. They are your siblings right?" Morgan said, a smirk starting to form on her face. Mineral's blood ran cold.

"No, they aren't" Mineral said trying to sound cool and precise, not giving anything away. Morgan only rolled her eyes.

"You know Tomy hasn't stopped talking to me about that, right?" Morgan said with a small chuckle "So basically I know everything he does" She looked over at Mineral "Except for the reason you saved him" she nodded at the boy.

MInreal sighed and looked at the ground. It was a while before she answered again.

"I just couldn't leave him to die. All alone, mauled by beasts and then left to bleed out before becoming one. It's a fate no one should have, especially not a child" Mineral said. Morgan nodded considering this.

"But a squid?" She asked finally.

"He's still only a child"

"I know, but what happens if someone finds him? Especially one who doesn't like them?"

They both knew who she was talking about. Mineral considered this for a moment.

"Sky and Budder will be leaving soon since the break up" She tried not to let her anger show in the last bit but some slipped out into the words "And everyone else will probably follow soon after. I just have to keep him hidden until then. Shouldn't take more than a few days" Mineral replied with a shrug of her shoulders.

"What if he gets antsy and wants to go out?" Morgan asked.

"I will let him out under supervision" Mineral replied

"That supervision being-" Morgan rolled her hands.

"Me" Mineral said not looking over "I can make sure he's safe"

"Oh really?" Morgan said raising her eyebrows "You can keep him safe? What if he gets out while you're not around and one of them sees him? They'd kill him on sight"

"He's part human, he looks like a kid" Mineral said pointing to the sleeping squid child. It was true, besides the fact that his hair and skin were two different shades of blue he looked like he could be any ordinary child.

"He has blue skin" Morgan pointed out.

"So? So do Connor and Kelly" Mineral said "And you accept them"

"They aren't squid" Morgan said "Listen, I just don't think this would be a good idea. If one of the others found him he'd be dead on sight. You've got two gods here too, one with kids and both very protective. If they think he's a threat they will kill him. Then you have an enderman and-" Mineral cut her off.

"Ok, I get it. There are a lot of dangers for him here. But I can fix them. In a few days time everyone else will be gone therefore all the danger. He'll be safe by then" Mineral finished. "I've thought it out" Morgan raised an eyebrow again.

"Does he even have a name?" She asked. The question caught Mineral off guard.

"Of course he has a name. Doesn't everyone?" She asked. Morgan smirked at her uncertainty.

"Then what is it?" She asked.

"Well I don't know it" she admitted "He was unconscious when I rescued him"

"Then what are we going to call him?" Morgan said "So I can tell you when he wakes up" Mineral looked at her.

"What do you mean?" She asked

"Well you aren't staying in here until then. It could be days" Morgan said "I'll send Tomy to get you when he finally wakes up so until then we might give him a name as a code word" She shrugged. Mineral thought for a moment.

"how about we call him Colin?"

A/N I am so sorry it took SOO LONG! I have had no free time to type what-so-ever so it's been hard but its here. This chapter is here.

One thing I want to say is a lot of you were saying to add the yogcast in so I did. I'm sorry it's taken so long but They're starting to get in. And also, please don't try and kill Colin. Just because he's a squid it doesn't mean he's evil.

Anyways, I think that's all for now.

SEE YA foxes!!
