Chapter 8
A/N: Hello everyone, it's been close to a month since I last updated and I was QUITE busy over the fact that I had to go to a new school but still, I will officially be updating at least a chapter or two today so hope you all enjoy it!
1st of September:
Hermione's POV:
Hogwarts, unlike many places I've been to, was something I'd always called home. After all, I did meet some people who befriended for who I really am. Unlike certain bigots. One of them was called Draco Lucius Malfoy. Unlike all are previous encounters in the previous years, when we both were sworn rivals, not only academics but practically almost everything in life, he was becoming much more kind-hearted, which slightly astonished me but I shrugged it off anyways.
Slytherins were and still are incredibly notorious for being cunning.
'But he's changed 'Mione! He's changed! He'll do no harm to you!" a voice silently echoed in my mind as I clutched tighter to Crooks and grabbed tightly onto my suitcase with my free hand.
Draco, Blaise and Theodore were smoking cigars as they somewhat leaned into a wall. I rolled my eyes so hard it might have went to the back of my head. Seeing this, Draco smirked as he used his other hand to ruffle his slick backed blond hair messily.
But my oh my. I couldn't help the feeling but admire his hair silently, which made him raise his eyebrow and saunter up to me like a posh prat.
He tilted my chin up, for my eyes to meet with his stormy eyes, that were boring endlessly into mine. My lips parted in awe of his mesmerising yet lean figure.
"Staring at me Granger?" he leaned closer to me, his breath hot on my neck.
'Oh Merlin, why now?' I fluttered my eyes closed as I silently panicked in despair.
Nevertheless, I kicked him in the crotch without a second thought and there he was, agonising in utter pain and despair. Blaise and Theo's eyes had widened in utter disbelief but Theo clapped as he breathed out airily "What a great way to show your love, Granger."
I snarled "Oh shut it you git!" I pointed my wand to his neck as a smirk crept onto my lips. "Oh wait! Should I tell to Draco that you've been trying to flirt with Mrs. Malfoy?"
Draco immediately averted his gaze to his best mate as his voice boomed, enraged. "Theo, she's my damn mother! What the fuck do you think you're doing? She's twice your age and has a husband for Merlin's sake!"
He remarked. "Oh well, anything can be possible. I'm certain you both in a relationship can happen too."
We both immediately froze as we were rooted to the spot. There was no damn way that could ever happen.
In fact, Hermione could bet readily on Merlin himself, knowing she'd still win, without a shadow of a doubt.
As hours passed, the Hogwarts' Express had already departed and then before long, all the students were present at the Great Hall, anticipating for the lovely feast.
"Welcome to Hogwarts,' said Professor McGonagall sharply. 'The start-of-term banquet will begin shortly, but before you take your seats in the Great Hall, you will be sorted into your houses. The Sorting is a very important ceremony because, while you are here, your house will be something like your family within Hogwarts. You will have classes with the rest of your house, sleep in your house dormitory and spend free time in your house common room. The four houses are called Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin. Each house has its own noble history and each has produced outstanding witches and wizards. While you are at Hogwarts, your triumphs will earn your house points, while any rule-breaking will lose house points. At the end of the year, the house with the most points is awarded the House Cup, a great honour. I hope each of you will be a credit to whichever house becomes yours. 'The Sorting Ceremony will take place in a few minutes in front of the rest of the school. I suggest you all smarten yourselves up as much as you can while you are waiting. Also before we start, I would want to honour Hermione Granger and her two friends, who are Ronald Weasley and of course, the Harry Potter, who defeated Voldemort. So I shall let the 'brains' of the trio, who I'm certain most of you would know, is Hermione to give a brief speech about the events of the past several months.'
I felt heat rush up to my cheeks as I looked away from the millions of pairs of inquisitive eyes.
Draco smirked as he folded his arms, which made my heart stutter in ecstacy. It was unexplainable but I could somewhat comprehend the feeling.
After all, friends were always there to comfort each other in times of need.
As I stood steadily and began with my speech, I could feel Draco's stare as I looked down, fiddling with my robes unsteadily.
When I did end my speech, the crowd erupted into a round of applause and a pink tinge spread across my cheeks as I desperately yearned to hide. Nevertheless, I rushed back into my seat and caught a glimpse of Draco winking at me as he clapped loudly for me.
Merlin, the things he was doing....I could never understand him but all I could say was he did wondrous things to me.
And I'm certain he had absolutely no idea.
