Chapter 20
Trey's POV
I walked into my room after my training with Dean Lucia. He had started me on some basic defense spells today.
The verdict?
He was able to kick my ass in the span of three seconds.
I really needed to improve on my magic.
I opened the door, rubbing my lower back. I was so damn sore. All I wanted to do was take a hot shower and go to bed.
The lights were off in the room, so I assumed Lance was already asleep. I tripped over some clothes on the ground and cursed quietly. Lance was really a pig. I made a mental note to talk to him about cleaning up once in a while in the morning.
I reached my bedside lamp and flipped it on to illuminate my side of the room. The little light shouldn't bother him; he was a deep sleeper after all. Even so, I glanced up to make sure I didn't disturb him. When I did, my eyes widened.
Shit.
Those weren't Lance's clothes on the ground. They were Abbey's.
Horrified, I looked away, my heart pounding in my chest. I felt like I had just purposefully invaded my roommates privacy.
Then I cursed him internally.
The idiot. He should have left a sign on the door or something.
Grumbling to myself, I checked my phone. Caley had sent a few texts telling me she was bored and missed me. The last one said not to go into my room because Lance and Abbey were at it. I shook my head. I should have brought my phone with me.
Sighing, I grabbed my towel and a pair of sweats and jumped in the bathroom to take a quick shower. Then I left the room, whispering Lumina Non, on the way out to shut the lights off. I walked out into the crisp night air to Caley's dorm building.
I made my way up to Caley's room. If her roommate was asleep with mine, then I guess I would sleep with her.
When I got to her room, I was about to knock, but then I thought better of it. What if she was already asleep?
Of course she was asleep. It was two in the morning.
I whispered the spell to unlock doors and slipped inside. Unsurprisingly, Caley was in her bed, fast asleep.
I stood for a moment, just looking at her. I felt kind of odd, watching her sleep, and wondered vaguely if this is how Edward Cullen felt when he stared at Bella as she slept. Immediately as that thought ran through my mind, I obliterated it. Damn, I was really tired. I was making freaking Twilight references.
But even so, she looked absolutely beautiful, even in her sleep. She had left the curtains folded back, the window propped open just an inch to keep the air flowing in the room. From the window outside, a sliver of the moon shone on her face, illuminating it just a bit. But it was enough to give her an almost goddess-like glow.
I smiled to myself and slowly went up to her. I reached out and brushed her hair back gently, caressing her cheeks softly with the back of my fingers. I guess I wasn't gentle enough, or she was a really light sleeper, because she stirred and opened her eyes.
I was struck by how blue they looked in the moonlight, like glittering precious gems.
"Trey?" she asked, slightly confused. I smiled at her.
"Hey," I whispered, not knowing why exactly. No one else was in the room besides me and her.
"What are you doing here?" she asked in her soft voice.
"My room was occupied," I replied.
She frowned in confusion. I guess she was bleary from being awoken in the midst of her sleep. As realization crossed her face, she raised her eyebrows and formed a small 'o' with her mouth.
"I warned you, though," she said.
"I didn't read it until after," I replied. She smiled slightly at me. "You're welcome to join me," she said. I chuckled lightly.
"I was hoping you'd say that," I said.
She smiled again and patted the bed next to her. I climbed in, pulling her towards me, enveloping myself in her warmth, relishing the touch of the soft, exposed skin of her arms.
"I missed you tonight," she whispered, closing her eyes and leaning against me.
I smiled wearily, wishing I was able to spend more time with her.
"I missed you, too," I replied.
"Mmmm..." she said, sighing as sleep took over her again.
I planted a kiss on her forehead and felt a slight pain in my chest.
It scared me a little, but I knew what the feeling was. And it definitely was not a bad one.
End of Trey's POV
"Wake up, sleepy heads!" was the first sound I woke up to the next morning.
Popping open one eye, I looked to see where and who the sound was coming from. I didn't need to look far; the source was standing right above my head.
"Abbey! Go away!" I grumbled, snuggling into my pillow.
Only that wasn't my pillow.
It was Trey.
"Gah!" I shouted, pushing away, my cheeks on fire.
The sudden sound woke Trey up, who sat up quickly, alarmed. When he sat up, his forehead collided loudly with Abbey's chin. This brought on raging howls from Abbey and groans of pain from Trey.
"Oh Merlin! I think you broke my mouth!" she screamed.
"Good, now you won't be able to talk as much," I muttered. Trey was clutching his forehead, no doubt seeing double from the force of the impact. Also, Abbey had a really pointy chin.
"Can you just shut up?!" Trey hissed, glaring angrily at her. She glared back, clutching her chin and massaging it.
"You're the one that BROKE MY CHIN," she shouted.
"You're giving me a splitting headache! Literally!" Trey yelled back
"Both of you be quiet!" I exclaimed. "Mentum percuro!" I hissed, glaring at Abbey's chin.
Her eyes widened slightly after a few moments and then she dropped her hand.
"How did you do that?" she asked.
"Do what?" Trey asked.
"My chin; it's all healed," she replied. Trey looked at me.
"It's just a healing spell," I said.
"But that's pretty advanced magic. Where'd you learn it from?" Abbey asked. I could feel Trey's eyes scrutinizing me. I shrugged to brush it off.
"I read it in a book and wanted to try it out," I said. They both looked at me curiously. "You guys haven't tried practicing magic outside of school?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. I was trying to play it cool. I couldn't let on that I had actually learned the spell over the course of two weeks at the hands of Gianna. That wouldn't bode too well with Elijah.
"I have, but nothing that difficult," Abbey said.
"I guess Caley's just a dare devil," Trey said. I smirked.
"You bet I am," I said, hoping we could drop the subject now.
"Where's Lance?" Trey asked.
"Oh, I don't...know..." Abbey mumbled.
"Please, I saw you two. I was in the room--" Trey started, but Abbey clamped a hand over his mouth.
"Shut up, shut up!" she exclaimed. He slapped her hand away and smirked.
"It's because of you two I had to come sleep here," Trey said.
"Oh, well I'm sure you're so upset about that. You two looked pretty comfy yourselves," Abbey huffed.
"We didn't do anything," I defended quickly, feeling my cheeks burn slightly.
"Says the blush on your cheek," she said.
"We didn't. She was completely out of it when I got here last night," Trey said. I smiled at him graciously.
"Whatever. Get up and get dressed. It's almost 11 and I'm starving," she said.
"You could have gone without us," I pointed out as Trey clambered out of my bed.
"I'm sure Lance would have kept you company," Trey added. She rolled her eyes, but a blush of red snuck onto her cheeks nonetheless.
Trey bid us good-bye for a few moments before we reconverged for brunch. When he left, Abbey smirked at me.
"What?" I asked, pulling open my closet and surveying my clothes.
"You two are adorable," she squealed. I rolled my eyes and shook my head.
"Stop acting like a fan-girl," I said.
"You two have been together longer than Lance and I--" she started, but I turned around and cut her off.
"Stop. We're not having this conversation again," I said.
"But--" she began.
"No! I told you, we're not ready for it," I said harshly.
"You both aren't ready for it? Or you aren't ready for it?" she asked skeptically. I sent her a glare and turned back towards my closet, biting the inside of my cheek.
She had a point. It was me that was afraid. I was pretty sure Trey was ready for it. But I didn't want to lose it to just anybody, although I knew Trey was far from that. I just wanted to be completely sure that his feelings for me were as strong as mine were for him. I didn't want to regret anything.
Sighing, I pulled out a pair of dark skinny jeans, a plain white-T and a cerulean blue scarf. I went into the bathroom and locked the door by muttering a spell. Then I looked at myself in the mirror.
Since I had woken up, all I wanted to do was check to make sure I looked the same as I always did. Trey and Abbey hadn't said anything to indicate otherwise, but I had to be sure. I needed to know if anything changed about me after the Blood Oath Ceremony.
I examined myself in the mirror. My hair was still that curly blonde that it always was, my eyes the same bright, electric blue. My complexion was clear as always and my skin had that same glow to it. My body shape was the same, I was neither fat nor skinny.
Then, I looked at my hand. I thought I would see a teardrop scar there, like the one that had burned so brightly in my hand the night before. But there was nothing there. The skin was smooth and even as ever. I glanced up at myself in the mirror. Could it have all been a dream?
I gasped, a realization falling over me.
I had seen the Blood Oath Ceremony once more before. In a dream I had had last year.
It had been during fall break, when I was at my father's apartment. I remembered waking up from what seemed like a nightmare at the time. A beautiful blonde woman with shining amber eyes, who turned out to be my mother, had screamed in agony when the dagger came down on her hand.
What did it mean that I saw the Ceremony happen before? Had it been some sort of message? Was it a warning to say be careful what I do?
I looked back down at my hand. Well, it was a little too late for that realization. The damage had been done and now I was loyally bound to Elijah forever.
Sighing, I jumped into the shower, trying to wash away the doubts that had suddenly flooded my heart and mind.

A/N: Trey's POV! Yay! How sweet are Caley and Trey?
I will admit, I typed Sean sometimes instead of Trey and Tori instead of Caley. I'm getting my characters confused. =S
Anyway, sorry it's a bit short and uneventful. It was really only a filler chapter. The next awesome chapter will be the next one. It will be another really long one, probably 5-6 pages, if not more. So look forward to that. I've got spring break in about two weeks, so I will work on that chapter then. Otherwise, this story won't get another update because I've got midterms (yay!).
As always, leave me your thoughts and comments. Do you think Caley is ready to take her and Trey's relationship to the next level?
Please vote!
